About
Welcome to Vaeshartelt, the place where history and nature form the backdrop for celebrating life! Our beautiful 17th-century estate combines history with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Once the home of King William II and later of industrialist Petrus Regout, Vaeshartelt is now yours to discover! Stroll through our green park including a vineyard, vegetable garden, fruit trees and a picturesque pond. Discover the Secret Garden or relax under centuries-old trees. For those who like to be active, beautiful walking and cycling routes start from the estate through the Limburg Heuvelland, along the Meuse and through charming villages. In the castle, you will find Bistro Els, where we cook with love for the region. We use as many products from our own land as possible or purchase products locally. Fresh and tasteful! Our rooms in the adjoining hotel wing are comfortable and practically furnished, with a private bathroom and everything you need for a pleasant stay. And the best part? You can park for free at the accommodations, so you don't have to worry about a thing! Vaeshartelt is only a few minutes' drive from Maastricht. From P+R Maastricht-Noord, a bus leaves for the city center every 15 minutes, so you can be in the heart of the city within 5 minutes. Valkenburg and the picturesque Heuvelland are also easily accessible by car or bicycle. Vaeshartelt is the place to celebrate life, surrounded by nature and yet close to the city.

Cons -
- No one could fix the TV. Poor response from front desk to minor pillow and towel requests. Continental Breakfast was way too expense at $16 euros.
- We stayed at the hotel for one night to celebrate my father’s birthday. Until checkout, everything seemed perfectly fine and we were enjoying our experience.Unfortunately, the way we were treated during checkout completely ruined the stay.An extremely unfriendly receptionist called a man (possibly the manager, though he did not introduce himself). He immediately accused my father of smoking in the room. There was no room for discussion, no willingness to listen, and we were told we had to pay a smoking penalty fee. When we asked for proof of this accusation, he refused to show or explain anything. After a longer and uncomfortable discussion, we insisted on inspecting the room together. Once inside, it was clear that nobody had smoked there. At that point, instead of apologizing for the false accusation and the distress caused, he simply turned around and coldly wished us a “good day.”The entire situation was handled loudly and rudely in front of other hotel guests, which was humiliating for my father, our family, and myself — especially given that we were celebrating a birthday.I sincerely hope the general manager or person in charge sees this review and takes appropriate action regarding this so-called “person in charge.” No guest should be treated this way. This level of unprofessionalism, lack of respect, and refusal to apologize is unacceptable. A stay that started well ended in a completely unnecessary and embarrassing scene.Very disappointing.
- Breakfast was very expensive even for the location. Bar menu was very expensive for the venue. Staff were welcoming and polite. Rooms were a little strange. Slightly dated, sink outside the bathroom, picture frames covered in dust. Why was the shower located in the narrow end of the shower.

However overall very nice location and looks lovely, staff were brilliant

Super glad they freed those tiny birds in the cage. Comfortable and reliable stay.
The breakfast could use an upgrade, it was too minimal and underwhelming for such place.
The staff
The parking was absolutely ridiculous. I managed to stay in a loading area only because it was Sunday then had to find a parking spot two blocks away in the early morning and lucked out the meter was broken. Don’t advertise parking you doubt have.
Beautiful property! Absolutely gorgeous externally and the lobby is very nice.
The room was fine, but nothing to write home about. The rest of the hotel is quite impressive, but the rooms could use some attention.
Very nice location, lovely staff, dog friendly, great breakfast
I missed a coffee machine and water kettle in the room to make tea and coffee. We asked for it and you can rent it. And missed some extra pillows, we only had two. Would be comfy to have two each if you watch tv.
Location.
€ 235 per night creates expectations. When sitting at the bar, seeing the kind of public, we wondered what happened. The normal room-price is € 145. € 90 cheaper as what we paid. Last but not least we noticed the hotel was not fully booked and rooms were going for € 126. Lucky we didn’t dress up like we planned, because then we would be the only ones in that case.Btw the tables in the bar were not cleaned. The rooms were poorly equipped, eg a little fridge was n’t in the room and the sink was in the room, not in the bathroom.
Location, food and the staff
The castle and surroundings are beautiful
The rooms are quite outdated and very basic. The carpet is very old. No slippers, no coffee in the room
Location near a park
The dog in the next room kept barking and the guys at front office did not excel in friendliness and hospitality. At the beginning it felt like it was our problem. Luckily (after a while) they gave us a different room, but with 1 bed instead of 2. When we asked for a room with 2 beds we were told to wait for the guy of the night shift. At the end since they did not have a room with 2 beds, they gave us 2 separate rooms, so we were satisfied. While waiting (2 hours! ) we enjoyed the bar and the staff there was very friendly.
Super staff, good location
Room rates were steep
Location
It was not clear that breakfast was already paid with the booking. And also not clear that €19,95 for per person or both guests. It would be better if all these things are included and paid beforehand, instead of going to the location and be surprised by these extra charges
Gardens , castle, restaurant, live music.
The sound insulation was not so great. You could hear a lot of sound from the corridor.
The location is good! Out of town but you can park your car (walkable distance) at the P+R noord where you can hop on a bus (3,10,30) and go to the city center in less than 15’. The staff was polite and they were offering hot chocolate!
The soundproofing is not that good.
Dog friendly, beautiful surroundings short drive distance to the city.
Very beautiful and very calm place. A bit far from city but still good. The place is very clean and cozy. Very nice garden around the hotel. Staff is ver nice and cooperative. Special thanks to Meisei and Sanne for their cordial gesture and kindness. They were really very helpful and professional staff which compliments the hotel and makes the best place to stay in Maastricht. I will definitely recommend and hope to stay there again.
A calm and elegant place surrounded by greenery.. Great restaurant,
Nothing. I liked the place. Well recommend.
Beautiful hotel in incredible surroundings. Easy to take a walk in the beautifully manicured gardens, or into the adjacent wooded area, or even farm. Very easy to travel with a pet, and the staff were very accomodating!
Breakfast is OKish. Tried it once and then rather found another restaurant the next day.
