Rijksmonument Hotel de Sprenck - including free private parking

Excellent hotel! We stayed for two days and here are some things we especially liked: - the room, which is very spacious and clean, plus it has a very nice balcony/patio, and you can actually open the door/let fresh air in;- the breakfast, which had everything we wanted, e.g., scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, vegetables, coffee/tea, fruit salad, yoghurt, muesli, pastry, etc. You could have breakfast either inside or outdoors;- the building, which is absolutely beautiful;- the service, we asked for a twin bed room, request which they granted, moreover, the receptionist was kindly called a taxi for us when we checked out. We were also given the option to save 6 Euro for every day we chose not to have cleaning done. We opted out, since we reckoned we would bring sand to the room which we wanted removed. But it was a good option to have nevertheless.

Two minor things we perhaps did not like as much:- the location, which is 2 km from Middelburg's central train station and around 1-1.5 km to the closest bus station that takes you to one of the coastal towns (e.g., Zoutelande). This normally is not a problem for us and Middleburg is a beautiful city and very walkable, but due to my own problems with footware digging into my feet, it was not always pleasant walking this much. Note on our way back home, we took the taxi to the train station. This was much better than walking from the train station to the hotel carrying our suitcases, which is what we did when we came here;- the air conditioning system's maximum temperature was 19. This could be a bit chilly to some. Note you can turn the AC off.People considering this hotel should check the location carefully. For us it was not a problem, but for someone less mobile it might be.

The seafood was fresh and delicious.The bread and Croissant were nice. A good variety of foods and drinks was available on the table.Generally, the breakfast gets 3 stars out of 5.

No fresh eggs or omelet were served. The orange juice was not fresh.The fruit salad was made of cheaper sorts of fruit. It was mostly apples.

Great location, cozy atmosphere and very good breakfast.

Lovely staff - who were always willing to help. Hotel is in a peaceful location on the edge of the town - it takes about 10 mins - walking- to get to the main square in Middelburg.

The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection. The building was architecturally delightful! Our rooms were very comfortable and the location was convenient for walking into the town centre. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The splendid hotel is situated ion the outskirts of Middelburg and is an easy walk into town. It takes 10/15 minutes to reach the centre of Middelburg. Check in was easy and the staff were very pleasant. Our room was on the ground floor at the rear of the original old hotel building. It was advertised as having a terrace opening out from the bedroom. The hotel itself is a grand building and the dining room for breakfast is set on the front of the hotel overlooking the lake. The outside terrace is open to take breakfast there if the weather allows

Our downstairs bedroom was very dull and dingy. Walls were painted in a very dark colour and the outside terrace had uneven flagging which was full of green moss. There was a table and chairs to sit out but we never did as it wasnt pleasant. The weather was glorious whilst we were there so we would sit on the seating at the front of the hotel instead. I would recommend the hotel to re decorate these rooms in lighter colours and re lay the outside flagging

Rooms in the new part of the hotel are comfortable but lack character and the terrace isn’t much

Beautyfull house. Perfect quiet location. The room was really nice with a huge bathroom and terrasse. The breakfast was impressive.

Good location less than 10 min walk into town across from the river. Very pretty location. Breakfast good with scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants, fruit, cereal, cheeses. Room very clean and cash back if you don’t have it cleaned every day.

While the lounge was OK there was no atmosphere it felt a bit like someone else’s living room but no TV. So we took drinks to the room - I didn’t see anyone using it. The hotel was extremely quiet - if you want very very quiet then this is the place for you

A beautiful building I. A fantastic location pleasant walk into middelburg centre. Good car park with ev charger. Friendly efficient staff. Great breakfast in lovely room. Such a change from dull chain hotels.

Character nice friendly staff good location and comfortable.

Good sized ensuite room to the front, & small balcony, with views over the garden to the canal. Excellent ensuite with large double shower & large basin. Comfy beds & tea/coffee facilities with small stocked fridge. Lovely & quiet location about 12 minutes walk from the town centre. Ample parking, super friendly & helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast.

There's nothing I can really complain about.

Breakfast was fabulous. Walking distance to town. Honor system for drinks..amazing. clean and comfortable. Amazing shower.

I wish there had been a restaurant without having to walk to town. Otherwise this hotel is wonderful.
