Pros +
- The room was bright and clean with windows that opened over the street and canal below. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The lobby is a coffee shop and offers an a la carte menu for breakfast. The location is within close walking distance to all of the restaurants, pubs and shopping, but far enough away to feel quiet and secluded. It was a little over 1K walk from the train station to the hotel. Alkmaar station has buses and trains that go every direction, so easy to get to and from on mass transportation.
- Great location by the canal with a lovely view of the water. Very stylish and all the amenities are first class.
- Absolutely loved the historical building the hotel was situated. I like the idea of a concept store x hotel. Our room had an open concept - minimal design, with a beautiful bath tub and lovely views over a bridge and the canals.
Cons -
- There was nothing I didn’t like about the property.
- The only issue we had was the very narrow winding staircases - it took two strong men to negotiate the stairs with luggage.
- We arrived after 6 pm. Would have appreciated specific directions on where to park. The steps were a challenge, especially with luggage. Maybe communicate this clearly on website so guests understand.

Boutique hotel located very near the Cheese Market square. Good restaurants nearby. Room was very spacious and beautifully decorated included dressing area and huge stand alone tub. Great stay!

Location was very good. Moden super clean room. The huge tub was an expected surprise.

A beautiful boutique hotel great location but beware the stairs to the rooms are very steep :)
Truly exceptional place to stay. Fabulous room, delicious breakfast. It’s located right in heart of the city, still not too noisy at night.
Very pretty, nice shower and bath…
No air con, had to have windows open as over 30 degrees but it’s opposite the red light district and so noisy at night we barely slept. The church bells also ring throughout the night too. Seriously. 2am,3am at random intervals. Wouldn’t be much of an issue if we didn’t have to have all the windows open. The property must know it’s loud because earplugs were provided in the room (not that they actually helped!). When it wasn’t the outside being noisy it’s the constant door slamming of the fire doors of the other rooms or people dragging bags up the stairs. Climbing 4 flights of extremely steep stairs with luggage wasn’t fun either. It should be more clear that All Rooms are only accessible by a minimum of one flight of stairs. I had to hold on to the step in front of me. The room itself wasn’t very practical either. Beautiful for sure, but not practical. “Bedside” sockets were in the crawl space of the loft. I also wasn’t tall enough to reach the velux windows. But then I was too tall to sit in the seating area or at the desk without hitting my head. Upon booking you’ve no idea which room you’ll get. No shelf in the shower to actually put things. The ceiling fan was so noisy on the fast setting. Toilet is basically in a cupboard. No proper bin in the bedroom. No TV or radio either. For the price I would have expected a little more comfort, especially as it’s a loft space in unbearable heat at times. Providing ear plugs also means it’s a known problem so choosing between melting or quietness could be easily solved with an aircon unit.
nice place in good location !
maybe inform better where the door is when you arrive late, as it took me quite a while to find it as it is not in the street mentioned.
Great location (although church bells rang hourly throughout day & night). Very spacious, bright room with sofa, bath and 2 hand basins. Friendly staff.
Extremely thin mattress on a very hard base was super uncomfortable - no give or support whatsoever. A thin duvet, thin lumpy pillows. Worst 3 nights’ sleep we had.Breakfast provided (only did this on the 1st day) was minimal and very poor value.
Very nicely renovated old building in the city center. Everything in walking distance.Staff very nice, friendly and helpful.
Nothing at all.One tip: Don‘t put all stuff into one luggage when you book room 6 (top floor, very nice and good view…)The stairs are very british and steep..
The room was nice, the team was helpful. I think elderly people won't be able to access the rooms because of hardcore stairs
I loved the design of the place, the cozy feeling one had inside, the beautiful view of the city, the comfortable furniture, the bathtub, the coffee served to one's room, the friendly stuff... All of this combined made our experience a great one!
The room is really nice, beautiful and cozy. It is quite big. The view is also great just next to cannel. Location of the hotel is perfect. Just a few mins work can reach bars and restaurants. The staff are very kind. I had late check in and heavy suitcase. They opened the door for me and carried it for me to my room. Really appreciated. Above all, I really recommand this hotel and will stay again if in Alkmaar.
clean comfortable and very central to Alkmaar
Great central location, clean, comfortable with super bathtub. Staff friendly and available breakfast available if requested.
The location is very good (although very close to the red light street, so could get noisy at night). The room was bright and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The view out over the canal was pretty.
The breakfast offer was very simple. You could have it delivered to the room, which was a nice touch, but it was quite expensive for what it was. The lack of a TV in the room was a little annoying. It was very hot the night we were there and although there was a small fan in the room, it was noisy and just moved around hot air. An aircon would have been much better.
It was exactly as it was advertised; a quaint boutique hotel in a typical Dutch house in a very central location.
unique combo of location, style, presentation, space, price and concept
It was a nice room.
There was no coffee in room. We wake up early and had to wait for the coffee bar to open.
