- We were right in the town Plaza area and on the canal. The breakfast was great for €19.50 each. This area is much calmer for traffic of all kinds than Amsterdam so it was a nice, easy side trip. Very convenient to Beer ? and Cheese ? Museums.
- It was directly in the Center of Alkmaar and we used the nice Bath.
Cons -
- Steep stairs, tiny room
- It wasn‘t really like a Hotel. Everything was nice, but a Little Bit old.
- Steep staircase. Shower in the bedroom so no privacy when washing.

Fabulous location. Quirky design. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Individual duvets. Chocolates on pillows on arrival.
Steep staircase. Shower in the bedroom so no privacy when washing.
Super central location, excellent staff as well during the day, evening and breakfast. The resturant of the hotel is of great quality.Lots or surrouding options for diner and drinks.
The hotel is very central so expect some night noised on the streets.
The breakfast was nice
The room needed lots of things repaired and reeked of sewage.
Lovely location
Was under the impression check out was 11am.Could have done without the cleaners in my room at 9 45.Then a revisit at 10.15 to check I was leaving. If you want quests out for 10am say so and i could have planned accordingly instead of rushing and feeling unwelcome.
A lovely location, interesting and quirky rooms, helpful staff, great breakfast.
I liked everything but maybe it’s worth mentioning that the steps to bedrooms are really steep and narrow so a bit difficult for guests with mobility issues.
The location, the top breakfast ( usp) and the room we had. It was larger than those we booked for earlier stays.
Very good
It was difficult to manage the stairs with large size suitcases - better suited for short stay travel. Our initial room had our bed on a mezzanine which wasn't suitable - we were grateful to be changed rooms for our 2nd night - staff were very helpful.
Good beds. Great lication
Hard to move suit cases
Friendly Staff, good amenities and comfortable bed :) Right in front of the cheese market. There was a terrace, but we didn’t use it much.
The terrace and the room were right on top of the restaurant. But it was very calm and not noisy. The room smelled really good, but the terrace didn’t really. We had a problem with the warm water, but the staff took care of it right away and the problem was solved within 15 mins. We also got more time to check out because of this.
Well located and breakfast was good. Shower in room was very good.
Room was extremely small and the air conditioning provided was a portable unit that was very loud.
Centrally located, excellent breakfast, helpful and friendly service.
Very small room, old building with steep stairs. Bell tower 50mrs away rings all the night. I personally could not sleep to well with that background sound every 15 minutes.
Its location
The chimes from the clock rang every half an hour throughout the night, they provtear plugs but we couldn’t get any sleep
Loved the location and the room itself was beautiful
Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful and unwelcoming. The smell of sewage in the room was unbelievably strong and bad. It wasn’t very clean or well kept.
Location
Smell of sewage coming from sing and showerNoise
The location was very good
The hotel is very noisy. I know its an old building but you can hear everything, people on the floor above you walking, your next door neighbors and people on the street even with the window closed. Also the staff didn’t ask once if we enjoyed our stay. Overall not worth the money.
The bed is comfortable, nice breakfast and friendly staff
My room was on the side of the bells that ring every 15 minutes, throughout the night! I didn’t sleep at all. The room also smelled terribly like sewage, something that apparently is already a problem there for years.
Great staff, lovely location opposite both the cheese and beer museum on the canal. Amazing breakfast. Very comfy rooms. Good atmosphere in the bar in the evenings.
There is no vehicle access to the hotel and parking (which can prove expensive) is a 5-10 walk away depending on your mobility.
