bike storage was great, rooms were clean

pillows were horrible, the hot water kettle should not be combined with coffee maker, it taints the water, in general, I was expecting a classier experience, it felt polished but barebones at best

Location, rooms and staff.

Located in beautiful historical downtow in very nice reconstructed building. Crew was awsome, communication , check-in on top level. Nice breakfast.

Very soft beds.

Location was great but no parking except in public garage which was located under the hotel. They do have a discount daily rate for the garage & you can go in & out at will.

Location is great. Very nice clean hotel. Staff are polite, very helpful and responsive. I will absolutely stay there again.

There did not seem to be air conditioning I thought it said it did have aircon when I booked.

Lovely renovation of an old post office. Perfect spot in the heart of it all. Close to everything. Train stop is a 20 min walk with a suitcase. Has a concierge and breakfast available if needed. Loads of options around close by as well. The staff are accommodating and i enjoyed my stay here but it sometimes felt more like a nice hostel than a luxury hotel. They also need to do some maintenance as wall scones hanging off the wall and walls not finished being painted isn’t a good look in the room. Not at 200 euro a night!

Nice comfy bed in clean room with decent Bathroom. Very friendly staff and location of hotel was excellent for the old town etc. Breakfast was very good and also a nice small bar for guests to use.

Although available by calling hotel telephone number, there were no staff actually on duty through the night which was a suprise for a hotel of such a size. Aware of a couple of incidents on site (not the hotels fault) but where it would have been helpful if front desk manned 24 hours.Originally booked room for one night through booking.com, all at ‘Free Cancellation’ rate. Then added a second night, again at Free Cancellation rate. Unfortunately, had to cancel (within the free cancellation period) the 2nd night booked. Hotel wouldn’t let me do this unless the one remaining night charge (as per original booking) was increased substantially. Frustrating to then find when I arrived that the room I had (which was quite small) was available at a much cheaper rate matching the one I was originally charged for one night.

Breakfast started late (at 8:00) in the weekends

The staff is very friendly and kindly to introduce Alkmaar places. The room is really clean and elegant. We enjoyed a lot.

Breakfast was only.meal available . Perhaps a small shop at night would help.

My room wasn't serviced at all in my one week stay.

I have stayed at the Grand Hotel on a number of occasions over the past few years and always enjoyed my visits. The hotel is located in the centre of the town with many restaurants close by. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful and the recent renovations to the hotel have helped make all stays very enjoyable.

Lovely boutique hotel perfectly situated in the town. Easy to walk everywhere including bus and train stations. Lovely staff and atmosphere and good value for money . We will return ?

Breakfast was too pricy for the amount of food available by 7:45 AM on October 10 there were only a few scattered scrambled egg loose bits of eggs at the bottom of the pot you could see the empty bottom surface. On the 2nd day, a group of Chinese tourists in a large bus came in and had breakfast early, and by 7:45 AM all the warm sausage pot was emptied, I brought it to the attention of the staff and they told me sorry, we have is no more warm sausage links left, I spoke to the manager about it, he checked the empty pot and said sorry, tomorrow will have more. I told him I had already paid for my breakfast, he told me there was plenty of food I could have cold cuts and dry cold cereal. I told the staff they had not made enough food to accommodate the bus full of tourists and they failed to plan for all the guests in the hotel. The Chinese tourists were filling thermos with coffee and food to take with them for their morning trip, on this occasion I did not see someone monitoring the the breakfast area as they had done the morning before. The Chinese took more than their share of breakfast while I was left without a decent fair share of the improperly supplied buffet breakfast. Of course, everybody goes for the warm breakfast rather than, the cold breakfast choices available. I did not get my money's worth charged to my account. I had a bowl of cold cereal with milk and a small glass of orange juice.

The breakfast bar had everything one would expect - continental and cooked breakfast - but the quality was basic and was served in a bar that was less nice than I expected given the views online of the outside of the building.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean & bed comfortable

The room was a bit warm with no fan, and the elevator was not working
