Pros +

  • Great house and fittings. Beautiful decor. Enjoyed the on-site pool and having the House Manager close-by. Having a night security guard was reassuring moreso because there was no power every single night of our stay except Day 1 (arrival) and our last day.
  • It is spacious, which is good
  • Beautiful villa, we loved the pool, it was very well maintained!

Cons -

  • For the price, quality and calibre I assumed and expected back-up power would be a standard. It was not because apparently the generator was damaged "3 months ago". And no power means no internet. No running water. For over 10 hours a day on some days meaning "bathing" with bottled water. No compensation whatsoever from the host. No constant power except Day 1 (arrival) and our last day on Day 7. The place is pitch black at night with no candles, lamps or alternatives offered. On day 3 I asked the House Manager and was given 2 chargeable bulbs (for a 3 bedroom house) with a promise of more...they never came. The final gift in no particular order..being stung by BLUEBOTTLES which live in the master bedroom mattress (I have pictures). After 2 nights of extremely painful bites which couldn't have been mosquitoes I emptied a bottle of insect spray on the mattress and they started to come out. Having spoken to the House Manager about the quality of "cleaning" before he seemed both surprised and nonchalant when I showed him firsthand (again) that a thorough springclean and fumigation was needed especially for a thatch roof house. Amenities and general improvements needed - MICROWAVE - Kitchen dustbin - General manual for the house (contact list, information on security vs finding someone outside with no prior knowledge, formal cleaning protocol - the House Manager seemed surprised every time I asked about the cleaners every 2 days even though he is the one who communicated this cadence to me on arrival) - Labels on all the light fittings because there are plenty and each does something different (when you have electricity) - Better briefing and training of House Manager and staff (cleaner leaves dishes WE washed without packing, wet toilet seats, many rooms untouched. House Manager orientation urgently required...going to 4 "shops" searching for eggs doesn't seem fair or acceptable.
  • It is not clean, plus there are roaches and insects all over the place. And the location of the property is not clean. It is at some ditch. No air conditioners. Plus has an electricity problem with no generator. The place is a total mess and the facilities are not clean some bathrooms are clogged.
  • There was no AC, but there are lots of fans The water stopped working on the last night in the property :(
