Pros +
- Food was great, staff was great, views from the hotel are amazing
- We spent one night in the Deluxe Suite Ocean View. The view is stunning, and the room is beautifully and elegantly designed for people seeking a relaxed, stylish getaway.
- Bungalows are not recommended.
Cons -
- The private pool is quite cold as it does not receive enough sunlight. Adding a pool heater would greatly improve the experience.
- Food service is EXTREMELY slow, with waits of over an hour (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The outdoor bathroom setup makes it hard to take a shower at night because of the insects. Roosters make a lot of noise early every morning, and at night there are many lizards inside and around the room, which is disturbing. The mattress is uncomfortable and made it hard to sleep. The ocean-view rooms are a better choice.
- Chasing tips all the time. Hotel was transitioning to renewable power so constant black outs, ac not working etc. prices for activities changed overnight …. Didn’t give me a feeling like we could trust them

The hotel’s design is both elegant and thoughtfully detailed, and the view from the property is absolutely breathtaking. The infinity pool is definitely a highlight. The staff were warm and attentive—I always felt genuinely cared for.The à la carte dishes were incredibly delicious! For breakfast, I highly recommend the fish soup and the wrap. We also tried their dinner menu, which was excellent.
The BBQ buffet was a bit underwhelming—we expected a steady flow of grilled dishes, but there were only three to four rounds, each with a limited selection. As for the cocktails, they didn’t quite live up to the high standard of the rest of the experience. We tried a few classics, and there’s still some room for improvement in that area. One thing worth noting is the lack of privacy in the room. The toilet and shower areas are separated by partitions, but there’s no curtain or cover to prevent visibility from outside. Since I was traveling with a friend, it felt quite awkward to see—or be seen—while using the bathroom or taking a shower.
The staff are amazing, attentive to details, cheerful, welcoming and were extremely caring to ensure that I had a pleasant stay and accommodate to my needs at a speedy manner.I stayed at Rando 5 - pool view room with outdoor shower which was quite an experience. The room looked bigger in the photos although it was fine and very convenient for a solo traveler. They have a great service like laundry (free of charge) which is great, i haven’t used it but found it an interesting service to be provided by the hotel.Food quality and service were superb. The BBQ dinner and entertainment was lively and lovely experience. The room is super clean, room service team cleans up the room twice a day which i haven’t seen anywhere else. Menu prices are slightly pricey but of a good quality. The restaurant view is spectacular and the infinity pool is just out of this world. i tried their wellness spa and have done 2 massages with Ashoura the therapist, she is genius (literally the best massage i had for years), she is a pro, cheerful and detail oriented. Also, Ally the guest relationship manager was very cooperative from the moment i arrived even before checking in till i checked out. He showed me around, explained everything in details, added me to WhatsApp group to be updated with all the news at all time and in case i wanted to request anything so they can take immediate action and planned a couple of trips for me (Stone Town and Spice Tours) were managed by the hotel and were very good.
More options in the food menuMore entertainment programs throughout the weekYoga sessions - i stayed for 5 days and didn’t encounter any
Me and my Wife loved the aesthetics of the place..Most importantly, we loved the food and the view from the main pool area
The beach, we would have loved if the place had a good looking beach
Attentive staff, 4:30pm tea time, activities for the guests, and daily menu changes,
I would have liked yoga offered daily.
The view from the restaurant, the friendly staff, limited but we'll curated breakfast menu. The food is better tasting and more appealing than the overrated rock restaurant. They provided small surprise items during turndwon service like aloe vera mask , cinnamon oil with a message note.
We liked the beachfront view and the ergonomic design where we were surrounded by a lot of greens. The gym was also really nice and clean. The food was also delicious and the staff were always smiling. The AC was also crispy cool, and shower water can be easily hot and cold. We also loved that cleaning staff came at night to do the bug sprays and briefly clean the room at night time. A lovely and unique touch. We liked the group chat concept too. Whenever we needed anything and for any questions we had, they were quick to assist!
The biggest reason why we chose this hotel was because of the private pool, but it was disappointing how easily dirty it got and cold it would be if there is no sun in sight. So we honestly only used it twice. I was also expecting floating breakfasts too.The bedding was also really disappointing. You’d expect luxe down bedding, but it was a very basic bedding and it didn’t feel that comfortable. For the same price you pay, Hyatt Park’s bedding was insanely luxurious. We also didn’t like how the menu felt a bit limited and the portion can be quite small for the price value. Especially they weren’t generous with the Protien. The coffee was also really disappointing.
What I truly love about Bamboo Zanzibar is the perfect combination of natural beauty, elegance, and personalized hospitality. The property feels like a peaceful escape — surrounded by lush nature and the calming sound of the ocean, creating the ideal atmosphere for relaxation and romance. The design of the villas and spaces is stunning — blending luxury with a touch of local authenticity. It’s clear that every detail has been carefully curated to give guests a unique and memorable experience.More than anything, I appreciate how warm, attentive, and welcoming the team has been — even before arrival. It feels like more than just a stay — it feels like being invited into a peaceful paradise created with love.
The friendly staff. The hotel is clean. You feel home
Limited option of food
I like everything and the staff was amazing and friendly especially Pendo & nabil and the Spa also was amazing I loved and we will stay again And the pool is amazing with nice view
Definitely a place to unwind, enjoy the pool, the spa, the food and the views. Whatever room you choose you will love it. The staff was good and always there to help. When the tide goes down you can walk on the white sand or kayak when it coming back in.
Just a little trimming field work needs to be done with the vegetation on the paths to the restaurant and around the rooms because I felt it had overgrown and was protruding a bit too much.
A must stay in Zanzibar , friendly staff and excellent service , good food , the pool room is exceptional. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is dreamy , amazing view of the ocean from the restaurant and pool areas. I also enjoyed the complimentary floating breakfast that is offered , I did not try out the Spa but it looked like a 5 star retreat area. I will definitely be coming back .
Our stay at Bamboo Zanzibar was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by an incredibly attentive and warm staff who went above and beyond to make us feel special throughout our entire stay. The level of service was exceptional, and it truly made us feel like valued guests. The hotel itself is a stunning blend of luxury and charm, with gorgeous aesthetics that create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Every detail, from the beautifully designed rooms to the lush surroundings, was meticulously curated, and it really enhanced the overall experience. One of the highlights was the variety of excursions offered. We had the chance to explore the island in so many exciting ways, we visited: Stone Town, Prison Island, Jozani Forest, the rock restaurant, Salaam cave and Paje Beach. There was always something fun and interesting to do, and the hotel team made sure we were well taken care of during each adventure. As for the food, it was nothing short of amazing. Every meal was a culinary delight, with a wide range of options that catered to all tastes. Fresh local ingredients and creative dishes made each dining experience memorable. On our last night we had the BBQ experience which was one of our favourite moments of the trip- really recommend! I spent my birthday at bamboo and it couldn’t have been a more memorable experience. The staff kindly decorated our room and even gave us a room upgrade for a day. I’ve never felt so special! Overall, Bamboo Zanzibar exceeded our expectations in every way. The exceptional service, beautiful setting, and amazing food made it a perfect choice for a getaway. We can't wait to return!
The location of the property is a little out of the way. 1hr to Stone town and 2hrs to Nungwi but it was nice to feel a little more remote.
We had the most incredible stay at Bamboo Zanzibar, truly a slice of paradise! From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with warm hospitality and exceptional service. The staff were beyond amazing, always attentive, even late at night, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. The hotel itself is a dream. clean, with a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere. The rooms are incredibly spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with top-notch amenities that made our stay even more comfortable, just wow!A special thank you to the manager, who was so sweet and welcoming, and to Dana, who was beyond helpful. No matter what we needed, she was always there, going above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. If you’re visiting Zanzibar, I highly recommend staying here. I can’t wait to return!
Nothing Nothing Nothing!
Whatsapp group for easy communication with staff. Free laundry and room service. Nice equipped gym and spa service. Delicious menu items and spacious room with ocean view and connected pool. Remote location for someone that enjoys quiet and peace
Mattress is a little hard. Shower water not hot. Long wait over an hour for room service or dine in during peak dinner hour. Ants in room and pool. Far from everything so dining option limited to hotel restaurants or a few you can walk to on the beach.
Design of the property, location, views over the beach, gym and massage.
It is hard for me to write bad reviews but I feel the necessity to do it. You don't get what you expect compared to what you pay. Check in by the lady with a dress was not smooth with lots of interruptions and with the feeling of not being interested to make the guest welcomed and comfortable. Zero information was given on what to do, property amenities etc. After that, we were left at the restaurant without actually knowing what we had to do or go. A few days before our stay, we received a message saying that if we were celebrating a special occasion, a detail will be offered by the hotel. We were celebrating our 10th year anniversary but no detail was found during check in or at the room. We asked about that and the response was that we had actually to ask for it. During our stay, we saw other guests receiving a bucket of flowers upon arrival. It is not about the detail itself but the hospitality feeling that you get since there was lack of communication or they simply forgot. The staff is kind but not well trained, you can see they have not received professional training which meets the standards they want to offer. There is no actual reception and the communication is done through WhatsApp, however if you ask for recommendations of restaurants or activities, no one answers. This fact makes that the staff, especially the guest relations manager, is always on the phone and not focused on what is happening on site. All in all, the value of the hotel is not worth the price you are paying. There are better hotels around. Such a shame the operational part, the hospitality part, and the management is not up to the standards they are marketing.(Writing this review some days after my stay and after expressing the same during check out waiting for the management to contact us. Unfortunately, it did not happen).
Bamboo is a beautiful space where there is a seamless blend between the landscape and the buildings. The attention to detail from the bamboo roof to the swimming pool that runs from restaurant to the pool area are really what set this property apart. I would go back there every weekend if I could. Not only so, but the wonderful team led by Nicole and guest relations manager Dana made sure that our stay was perfect, within short notice they managed to accommodate us with excellent service and customer care. Hats off to the Bamboo team, if there’s a place doing it right on the island Bamboo is it ❤️
