Choibana Ecolodge

Pros +

• The place is amazing, you can reach it within a quarter of an hour by boat from the town of Bahia Solano and it is absolutely worth it to enjoy the tranquility of the bay, the sea, spot whales and listen to their song. The transport from the airport to the hotel is very well organized, the owner himself took care of organizing everything and made sure that everything went well at every step. The staff is really helpful, kind and available at any time. The food is simple but very good and whenever it is available, you can enjoy the excellent fresh fish of the day. The location is the strong point of Choibana. Far from the town of Bahia Solano, it is like having a private beach, far from the light pollution to see the stars at night and far from the noise of the many boats crossing the bay, it is literally possible to immerse your head underwater and hear the whales singing. With a bit of luck the whales enter the bay and it is possible to spot them from the window of the room (keep in mind that not all rooms overlook the sea).
• The staff and the nature

Cons -

• More than things we didn't like, these are a couple of suggestions for the place. We think that in the rooms you could add a couple more pieces of furniture, like a night table next to the beds with a reading lamp for the evening or mosquitos net on the windows. The mosquito net that we found on the bed was useful, but the square model (the onewhich can be used by installing four sticks at the edges of the bed) is more comfortable. Another suggestion that we had thought of, was maybe to add solar panels to heat the shower water, or, since electricity reaches the lodge, to equip the rooms with electric water heaters. On rainy days a hot shower is nice ;) The Internet does not reach the rooms, for us it was not a problem (for other guests it could be), but to work on the computer facing the sea, maybe the signal could be improved to make sure it reaches the chairs on the veranda facing the beach.
