The hotel was very cosy and nice, very comfortable and very friendly. Good breakfast, wonderful shower. Free stay for my dog.

Great breakfast and quite good room. Nothing special, but everything was clean - perfect to stay for 1 night.

Atmosphere, design, breakfast, and staff were great.

However, our bed creaked, and the mattress was uncomfortable. We would have appreciated a more comfortable setup.

    A place to avoid

Very disappointed with the rooms, amenities don’t match the online description, old dusty rooms, a few spiders here and there.

This hotel really is a rare find. The room is spacious and comes with real wooden furniture and not the usual generic cardboard type. The food at breakfast tastes great - they even have real cheese instead of the usual plastic you get served at hotels. They don't have a coffee machine at breakfast - the waiter makes it for you. You can park in front of the hotel without an app. You don't have to look at a screen for relaxation you can take a walk through the hotel's garden or through a horse ranch right next door. Let's just say that we had a great stay at this hotel.

Our room didn't come with a refrigerator - some people still like their drinks chilled. These is this one thing though - because this hotel manages to do such a good job, you start to think about all the accommodations that can't do theirs.

The staff were friendly and the rooms were larger had a bath and lovely breakfast

At the time of visiting there was no restaurant available as the kitchen staff were on vacation. In advance (but after payment was made) the hotel sent out restaurants that we could go to instead. What happened was...they aren't walkable and unless you mapped the restaurants before that you wouldn't know. There is nothing around this hotel. It is in the middle of nowhere. The bus on the weekends stops around 8.30pm so if you are out or coming from Munich for the day and not driving my 70 year old mum and I got stuck twice. At one point I was lucky to get an Uber as it was a 2 hour walk to get back to the hotel. When I explained to the staff it needed to be clearer for individuals without cars that there is nothing to eat whilst their restaurant was down. They shrugged. We went hungry the first night. Then when our for dinner the second night that's when we had to walk an hour. And my elderly mum was in pain for the rest of the trip (Uber hit and miss). There is no kettle or facilities to make drinks in the room. FYI You need to bring hair products if you are used to them being in hotel rooms In the summer, much like a lot of places in Munich there are lots of wasps and breakfast had these visitors inside the hotel as well as outside. As someone allergic it was pretty hard not having a place being able to be away from them.

GOOD BREAKFAST A LITTLE BIT FAR AWAY FROM SEATING AREA. HAD TO CROSS THE RECEPTION TO GO TO THE BREAKFAST ROOM. ROOMS WERE CLEAN. SHOWER DOOR DID NOT CLOSE COMPLEATLY SO ENDED WITH SOME OF THE WATER GOING OUT ON THE FLOOR.

AT THE LAST MINUTE THEY SENT AN EMAIL SAYING THAT THE RESTAURANT WOULD BE CLOSED ALL WEEK, IT WAS A PITTY AS WE HAD BOOKED HERE WITH THE INTENTION OF HAVING THE RESTUARANT WITH THE HOTEL SO THAT IN THE EVENING WE DIDN'T HAVE TO TRAVEL WITH THE CAR.

Great breakfast, great location and service

Loud doors (even inside the room) and hallways. Too soft bed from my point of view.

A beautiful hotel, excellent facilities, breakfast was amazing! We also had an evening meal on one evening and I would highly recommend eating at the hotel. The beds and pillows were great, I never usually sleep in hotels but my three nights here were very restful!

The restaurant manager was a little abrupt, boarding on rude, all other staff were cheerful and extremely helpful. The hotel is in the countryside so you will need a car or be prepared to order a taxi. This wasn't a problem for us but if you are not prepared for this it will be a surprise.

Both breafast and dinner were delicious, the style of the whole hotel is also very interesting

The rooms are quite small, two mattresses instead of a single one in a lux apartment on a quiet average bad looks strange.

Good selection of food for breakfast, very attentive staff. We also ate lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant - both excellent. The hotel has also a lovely courtyard and a garden so plenty of space to enjoy it. The surrounding of the hotel is very quiet and lovely. We loved its convenient location 15min drive to Munich Messe.

Our room did not have direct access with a lift so if you have mobility issues it is better to specify that you want to be in the part of the hotel with the lift.

This is an absolute gem when you are looking for a nice and romantic weekend hideaway not far from Munich or (as we did) a goodnight sleep before boarding a flight at Munich airport. The value for money is fantastic. The Stangl has a very unique charme and lovely atmosphere due to the combination of new and old materials and interior which has been done very nicely (not ruined like in other hotels). The beergarden must be very lovely to have a sundowner or to enjoy typical Bavarian food - unfortunately it was closed when we were there. The room was spacious and well appointed. Free water at the room which is always a plus. The breakfast comes with lots of variety to choose from. We really enjoyed our short stay.

Beside the good impression, there were a couple of small things that could have been done better (this is complaining on a high level and maybe unfair considering the price and value here): 1. When we arrived, we were left unattended at the lobby for quite some time, although 3 people from the staff passed by. No one asked us if they could help us in any way and we had to ring the bell multiple times until someone came to check us in. 2. After our longer wait at the check in, the man who checked us finally in was not overly friendly. Not a big deal but a smile or some sign that we are not a burden would have been great. 3. Our room was at the very far end of the building and we were travelling with loads of luggage. There was no elevator in that building or help from the hotel to get our luggage (3 huge suitcases and 3 small) to the room which was a real hassle. 4. We arrived on Sunday night and were hoping for dinner at the Hotel restaurant which was unfortunately closed, so that we had to check for alternatives. Not a big deal but something we would recommend checking if you are short on time. 5. We were 3 people in the room and when there are 3 people, I also expect 3 towels, 3 bathrobes, 3 bottles of water and cups etc. and not just 2. 6. The description at the breakfast buffet was here and there missing and it was not always clear what the individual items were. Overall, we would still recommend staying at the Stangl as it is a really beautiful place to stay.

The staff is excellent, very helpful and very easy access to bus and train (40 min by train & bus from Munich center).Great breakfast and very cozy location. I very much enjoyed my stay!

the pillows were too soft for my taste but that is a personal perception, just a matter of taste

Beautiful hotel. Cozy room. Purely. Close to Munich. There is a parking lot P&R for 1.5 € per day and a metro within a 10-minute drive. Very pleasant and helpful staff. They will always help if you need anything.

This is a hotel for celebrations. Music and conversations under the window until five in the morning. crowds of people in the lobby. If you return to the hotel late, there will be no parking. I had an electric car and had a problem with charging. Hotel guests park at the electric car charging area. There is no air conditioning in the room. There is no safe or minibar. No coffee or tea. The hotel is located on the road along which many cars and large trucks drive in the fall in the morning. Very noisy. We couldn't sleep.
