Pros +
- I stayed at New Hotel de Lives during a very busy Easter weekend, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I was initially hesitant, worried it might have a motel vibe, but it was absolutely fine. The room in the new building was clean and cozy, and I really appreciated the bathtub - even though water leaked a bit through the glass. The location is great if you’re driving - free parking and easy access to the highway were major pluses. It’s also a short drive from Namur and Dinant, so perfect for exploring the area. Just keep in mind that you do need a car, as it’s in a remote area. There are no nearby restaurants or shops, so the on-site restaurant is a big benefit. It was popular with locals, and while the food was tasty, the menu was definitely on the pricey side (around €20+ for a burger). The breakfast didn’t offer a huge variety, but everything was fresh and delicious. It was a bit unusual to have to prepare your own bacon, eggs, and toast - especially since the appliances didn’t work on the first morning, though everything was fine after that. The staff was a standout. I was surprised and pleased that they spoke English so well. Special compliments to the young receptionist who was incredibly helpful-juggling both front desk duties and assisting with food service. The room itself was peaceful in terms of outside noise, but the sound insulation between rooms was lacking. I’ll just say that I became very aware of my neighbors’... enthusiastic activities throughout the night, banging walls...Housekeeping was excellent - my room was cleaned thoroughly and with care. The natural surroundings were beautiful, adding to the overall experience. For the price, it was an excellent value. I would definitely stay again.
- The room was very comfortable. It was in a very scenic location, close to the motorway, for a break in my journey from the UK to Switzerland. Restaurant on site, food was ample good and well priced.
- I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Kind people, clean and nice breakfast.
Cons -
- -Bathroom glass panel leaked water while using bathtub, floor was soaking wet-Poor sound isolation between rooms-No clear instructions for cooking raw eggs or using the electric pan at breakfast-Limited staff availability outside of restaurant hours. There is no 24-hour reception, so if you need assistance late in the evening or early morning, it can be difficult to reach anyone. This could be inconvenient for late check-ins or if any issues arise during your stay-Very remote location – a car is a must-TV on the side wall at the weird angle, impossible to watch- Open closet without doors (smell from the restaurant getting into clothes)
- Some of the serving staff - one - was a bit surly. A menu full of interesting looking beers, but apparently only able to Stella Artois. He could not be bothered.
- There is no reception in the evening. I got my key at arrival at 17:00 then left to an event and when I came back at 23:00 the door was blocked and I could not get into the building. There is nobody and the emergency telephone was answered by a machine which was super frustrating. I was super tired after driving about 9 hours to this hotel. Finally when the lady called me after leaving 2 messages. She did not believe that the door didn’t work. It was like a joke. Then the solution was getting another key from to sleep in a different room on the old building leaving all my stuff in the original room. It was a real nightmare. But the rest of the stay was somehow okey.

I can’t say I liked it as I had a bad experience.

Clean and comfortable. Pleasant staff. We arrived late in the evening after a difficult journey in torrential rain. The staff checked that the restaurant would still serve even although it was late. Very pleasant meal.
Everything was fine for us. The out of town location may not have suited other travellers so well.
Breakfast was self service with plenty of choice
Too much road noise very early morning
Very poor
I ordered room with two single beds. They gave us room with 1 double bed. When we see that reception was already empty as it was after 22:00. Next day when i said that to staff only respond was ok. Whole hotel is dirty and small bad.
Location for public transport, quality of restaurant food, great staff.
Bed very uncomfortable and small, noisy room, too hot. Sink did not hold water for a shave.
Room OK, bed a bit soft but good for a one night stop. Breakfast was very good as was dinner
Decor is a bit dark and tired, Shower lead was cracked so most of the hot water went over my legs . Dinner service was slow, but they were busy .
The staff were all great, friendly and helpful and spike good English. Lovely location.
The hotel could do with a bit of an update, decorating.
The location was excellent and easy to get too. The onsite restaurant was very convenient with a good menu.
There were no English language TV channels. But this wasn't really a problem.
The crew was really nice and helpful. The food in the restaurant was so delicious. Breakfast was very good enough choice.
Location is out of the town so it's best to travel by car. I traveled with a dog and he was reallay welcomed and there was no problem
The room is quiet and bed very comfortable with good bathroom. They offer bottles of water and a couple of coffee.
The wifi signal on room 28, which is the last of the new building, is not strong enough to maintain a connection. The TV has also no channel option.
THE WORST STAY IN MY LIFE I SPEND 10 MINUTES IN MY ROOM
The worst stay in my life, the hotel was dirty and my room smelt so bad that I had to leave it after 10 minutes (the rooms are located above the kitchen), the service was not nice (the lady with blond hair), when I asked to change the room I was refused, THEY DID NOT REFUND THE MONEY even though I was there for 10 minutes. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!
The room was big enough. Bed was fresh, enough towels in the bathroom. Good and friendly service from the staff. Eays check-in and check-out. A lot of parking place.
The room was very cold when I entered it. Nog easy to take a shower because the faucet was not installed very good. No shampoo in the bathroom. The breakfast could be better, not a lot of food to choose from.
The staff very good. Booked Room 19th Oct, Why was the room changed 1 day before? got an email 1 day before saying “Don’t have Twin Room anymore only a room with a large bed. My last stay I was in Room 23 beautiful Room 23. This time room 25 very poor carpet looked `tired
Carpet Tired over all looked poor'
Our vehicles were parked at rear of property near to our windows (pets onboard). Comfortable bed. Serve yourself breakfast
No kettle in room or tea bags. Shower leaks over the floor. Toilet wobbled.
Friendly staff with nice restaurant attached. Comfortable beds. We had ground floor rooms overlooking the carpark. Ideal as we had large pets with us.
Only coffee facilities. No kettle or tea available in the room. The shower leaks onto the floor no matter how we tried to stop it.
Location convenient for cycling along the Meuse. Staff seemed nice. Reasonable price. View of river from room.
Room was ok but drainage blocked with hairs coming out of plughole, missing lightbulb, coffee and mugs not replaced properly. Studio above room had stomping when in use. Restaurant looked nice, but not reserved for guests.
