    • the view was amazing, but not worth it for kids to play ski. we need to pay more for train to hotel location
    • The location
    • This is an old, but beautiful chateau with fun and incredible history. We took advantage of all the educational exhibits — walked into the glacier (a must do), watched the history videos, toured the Glaciolium. Food was good. Providing snacks between lunch and dinner would be helpful (only nuts available and alcohol). Service was wonderful. We hiked up in the rain so we were a bit chilly. We were able to check in early so we could warm up with a nice warm shower. We were in a dorm room, but it was very comfortable, warm and bright. You can take the train up, hike all the way, or take the Tram to mid-station and hike a shorter route to the chateau. A wonderful experience!

    Cons -

    • the hotel manager knock my door at 7pm and force me to open the door when i was sleeping
    • Very disappointing. The location may be nice, but it’s a nightmare to get there, but apart from that they charge you like a luxury hotel for what is basically a dump. The shower was literally dirty, there was no shampoo or hair dryer, and overall the room felt very cheap. The hotel wasn’t heated; at the restaurant we had to sit with blankets and it was still cold. The food was mediocre, and we ended up with diarrhea afterward.
    • No snacks

The location is remote with a view of the mountains and glacier.

The rooms are very dark with little lighting. The train to the property is somewhat expensive.

Very clean, stylish, welcoming and fairly comfortable.

Pillows are too small & insufficient. Room rate is high (I understand there are logistics involved) but I was expecting a bit “more”. Maybe some more furniture in the room, towel hooks in the bathroom… I was expecting a more “lavish” room for 350 euros a night…

A mythical hotel for cultural and natural history with its spirit intact through sensitive updating, with charming staff and pretty good food.

Beautiful location, very friendly staff, wonderful history of the refuge and beautiful cozy rooms

    Nothing, loved everything!

Rooms are very comfortable and cozy. The location of the hotel is truly unique!

For the price I was expecting something better. For example, the body wash bottle in the shower was completely empty and there was no hair drier.

The best place for chill spending time at French Alpes.Very nice restaurant and team of the hotel. We really enjoyed snowshoeing routes!

Only one thing is for improve experience from this hotel: very important information about location, that you can get to hotel only by train before 4 pm. Also, I hope, in future hotel will have some preferences for free parking in Chamonix and free train tickets for clients, or discount :)

The location, the view from the window, the athmosphere, the fondue and the breakfast.

We received an email from the hotel saying “Pour retirer vos billets de train, veuillez présenter le voucher ci-joint sur votre téléphone aux caisses de la gare du Montenvers.” but when we got to the train station we were told that they didnt have them and we should have paid for them separately. We called the hotel and they said that it’s a message that it’s sent to everyone but it didnt apply to us. We were clearly upset about the miscommunication but when we got to the hotel they didnt even acknowledge the issue nor apologize for the unconvinience. Considering that you have to pay 60 euros for 2 people for the train plus 30 euro for parking for 24h i suggest trying to negotiate some discounts for your guests. In addition, i strongly recommend modifying the communications you send out so that they are tailored to each reservations and avoid confusing information.

Amazing place to stay - a must in Chamonix! You cannot beat this location or views. We loved being able to stay and enjoy the scenery after the crowds went home. The room was lovely and comfortable - large, warm, excellent shower. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back next time we're in Cham.

The dinner was pricey, but the food and service were good. It's not easy to run a full restaurant on a mountain, so I expected the prices to be a bit elevated. The breakfast was a little limiting, and certain items ran out during the first 30 minutes.

This is an amazing old mountaineering / trekking hotel in on top of a ridge outside of Chamonix. It’s like stepping back in time! Charming staff. Delicious food and great bathrooms. Beds small but cosy! Highly rate it for active people.

Chloe, the reception mgr, was wonderful! The surroundings were INCREDIBLE!! Only stayed one night - wish we’d stayed longer. Montenvers was buzzing during the day with tourists and families, but it quiets down at dinner, and only hotel guests are there for that meal Loved the 1st floor deck for lounging, soaking in sun and views.

    Nothing. It was all great

Such a neat location and friendly staff. We were in the family room with unique bunk beds. Our window looked out to an all night rock fall. Loved it.

location, stylish, traditional, great view ,

not enough staff. Breakfast not laid out at 8am, lights off no food out, half cooked croissants and not quite defrosted bread. First train departure 9am. No hair dryer in room or curtain or blind in bathroom.

Fantastic location, just a very unique hotel, definitely worth a night or two if you are in Chamonix. Once the last train leaves, it just you and the other guests. Great food and exceptional staff!!!

The peace, mountain view, how comfortable the room was and the family vibe.

Main course had a salty element. It’s just a small detail that did not ruin my experience.

The Montenver refuge has the most incredible location and we were treated to a fabulous sunrise over the mountains. To be able to be up there with the silence is magical. The hotel is simple but lovely. Very comfy beds and great shower. All the staff were friendly (especially the lady on reception) who introduced us to Ernest the resident chamois. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious.
