About

Villa Rina dates back to the 14th century and offers incredible views and excellent local cuisine. You'll appreciate the friendly service and comfortable guest room with your own balcony and free Wi-Fi. Once home to a wealthy, local family, Villa Rina is set at the top of about 400 steps. It now welcomes guests to a tranquil oasis, surrounded by citrus groves. The owners use vegetables and fruit grown in the villa's grounds, and the olive oil is made from their own olive trees. Villa Rina is an ideal base for exploring the Amalfi Coast. It is close to a number of popular trekking and hiking paths where excursions are organized, particularly in summer and autumn. The helpful team of staff will be delighted to offer useful tips and travel advice.

    • The lemon plants
    • We had the most incredible stay! Rina’s villa truly has the best view in all of Amalfi — absolutely breathtaking. While there are quite a few stairs to get to the villa, they are 100% worth it, and honestly, you feel your best physically each day because of them.Rina is an amazingggggg cook. Do yourself a favor and enjoy at least one of her meals — I had the best tiramisu of my life! The breakfast each morning was also incredible, so fresh and delicious. We loved every part of our stay with Rina and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!
    • We truly enjoyed our stay at Rina's Villa. The food was homemade and from Rina's garden. The spritzes with homemade limoncello were the best we had in Italy. Loved the third-floor room with roof deck and incredible view that we had to ourselves. Rina makes sure that we have everything we need. The 15-minute walk along the path into town was beautiful.

    Cons -

    • The worst hotel service I¿ve ever had
    • The location is quiet and outside of the main square but does require a lot of walking and stairs. The porterage service is fantastic and affordable. You will be amazed with the porters. We are in good shape for our age but we definitely got our "steps" in every day. The walk into town was beautiful. Bring Euros for taxes and porterage services.
    • A word of caution, the villa is 200 steps up from the street. If you are not in decent physical shape to climb the steps, this is not the place for you. We are in our 60s and we did fine, but I would not recommend it if you have a heart condition or any physical disability. For those willing to take the climb, the view and Rena’s hospitality are well worth it!

If you want to feel like you are part of the local fabric, this place is it! It was like I was visiting Thea’s house. Rena took great care of us, breakfast was perfect and a 4 course nightly dinner was completely homemade! And both were on the patio with an amazing view of Amalfi.

The stunning views, spacious room, great food and staff.

What a perfect way to end a month in Italy. If you are not afraid of stairs... paradise awaits. Walk up hill though a lemon grove, and find yourself on a patio overlooking the Amalfi Coast . Birds chirp and the chaos of Amalfi town is forgotten. A breakfast of eggs and scones topped with homemade fig, orange, and grapefruit preserves is included, but the real gem is the add-on dinners. Organic vegetables, breads, pasta, and dessert. Wine and lemoncello included. We booked one night and decided to eat with Rina all three evenings. Absolutely the highlight of our trip.

As long as you are willing to climb the stairs, there is absolutely no downside.

The location and views , the meal prepare by Rina, the owner.

We loved sitting on the patio covered by lemon branches, overlooking Amalfi & the Mediterranean Sea, with jasmine scenting the air, while we sipped our morning coffee, and ate homemade croissants, jam, & eggs. Our room was lovely with a balcony that gave us a million dollar view! Yes - the stairs going up are intense (especially if you spent the day going up & down more stairs) but we (fairly fit 60 & 64) were able to do it.

Would have liked a softer pillow but not a big deal.

Rina was an absolute pleasure, a fantastic host. We did the cooking lesson with her and really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone. The villa was located at an absolutely stunning point along the coastline providing beautiful views from the balcony of our room, and a picturesque backdrop for our morning coffee and breakfast. While it’s true getting to the villa is a little bit of work, it’s worth every moment, and really, if you savor it, it’s actually quite beautiful. The room was fantastic it never got hot in there despite some hot days. There was ac, but we didn’t end up needing it. Room was very clean and inviting, the shutters kept a nice breeze going through while maintaining privacy when we wanted it. Again Rina and her staff were excellent and our visit to the Amalfi coat was made all the better because of them. I can’t recommend it enough. My wife and I want to thank you again Rina for the wonderful service you provide there for people visiting the coast.

Absolutely wonderful location - quiet and lovely with lemon groves and other fruits and vegetables growing on the hillside.

There were a lot of steps.- so not for the faint-hearted or less able.

Room view was perfect; the stairs were a challenge but just take your time and have fun with it. For 2 dinners, we had Rina as our 5-star chef literally. Menu was awesome. First experience in the B&B world and it exceeded my expectations.

Amazing view, homemade croissants and jam, and a fantastic host!

Keep in mind that this property is a 20 to 25 minute walk from the city center and the stairs or no joke! But what a great way to stay active and burn some extra calories, so you can enjoy more pastries and gelato!

The view from your room terrace is absolutely stunning, overlooking the ocean and the coast. One night, we had a lovely four-course meal cooked by the host. The view is incredible and breakfast on the terrace is beautiful.

Access to the property is very challenging and complicated. There are no direct roads leading to or near the accommodation, as it sits high on the hillside between the lower and upper coastal roads. Reaching it requires navigating many steep stairs. We arrived by ferry into Amalfi, where the port was chaotic and poorly signposted. After some confusion, we located a man in a fluorescent vest selling local bus tickets — important tip: make sure you buy an extra ticket for your return trip to the port. After waiting over an hour, we boarded a local bus toward Pogerola, travelling about 1.1 km along the coast to the Santa Caterina Hotel, a five-star property. There, we left our luggage with the Santa Caterina Hotel porter (who kindly stored them for us), and then faced a steep and strenuous climb up many stairs to reach Villa Rina. We also had to pay the Villa Rina porter €24 to bring our bags up from the hotel — and again for the return trip when we departed. When I say the stairs are steep, I really mean it — they are quite significant. Even though we are reasonably fit, the climb made it difficult to get to and from Amalfi Central. This was disappointing, as we had hoped to be able to do some sightseeing during the day, return for a rest, and then head back into town for dinner. Instead, after a full day out, we were too exhausted to make the round trip again. Realistically, it was only feasible to go up and down once per day. That said, this is the nature of the Amalfi Coast — beautiful, but built on steep hillsides. The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, and our host, Rina, was incredibly welcoming and kind. However, despite her assurances that it’s just a “short 15-minute walk into town,” the steep climb made it feel far more demanding than that.

Spectacular views of Amalfi, nice and friendly host, freshly prepared meals, intimate setting with only a few rooms, meaning limited number of guests at any time. We especially appreciated knowing the ingredients were all sourced from the garden and market daily, including homemade jams, lemonade, and fruits and veggies. We felt it was a unique way to experience Amalfi compared to staying at a hotel. We were treated very well and personally as guests by Rina and her staff. Rina gave us great suggestions to help guide us during our time exploring Amalfi Coast. She speaks great English and we had no problems communicating. We didn’t have any issues with the many steps leading up to the property, albeit we visited in April when the weather is cooler. We suggest opting for the porter service on the way up (12 euros per bag). It’s very doable going down to carry the bags yourself. We chose to eat dinner at the Villa for all three nights during our stay, which is well worth the 40 euros pp, as you get many courses and about a bottle of wine plus limoncello. We would love to stay again when we return to Amalfi, and we plan to recommend Villa Rina to our friends and family.

We felt very comfortable during our stay, only one thing that could improve would be upgrading the bed. The queen was made up of two twin mattresses, which we didn’t expect. However, we still slept fine.

Rina is such a nice host. We feel very comfortable in her house, with her cat and dogs around. When we walked from bus stop to her house, we saw flowers, lemon groves on the way, we had a taste of hiking on the mountains of Amalfi coast. My 11 year old son walked without problem with his backpack. Rina prepared a delicious breakfast on her porch for us, with eggs from her own chickens. The view from the room balcony is spectacular, we can see Amalfi town, the sun rise and the moon. We also met the donkey postman! We had a great stay. Thanks Rina!

A really lovely quiet place to stay on the Amalfi coast. Beautiful views to enjoy with a lovely breakfast each morning. Rina made you feel so welcome and right at home.

There are a lot of steps so it may not suit everyone.

The view from Villa Rina is spectacular and one we will never forget. Rina was very welcoming and gave us great information about the locality. Before my visit I was apprehensive about the 226 steps up to the villa mentioned in reviews, but soon got used to it and enjoyed the exercise. The short walk into Amalfi is easier and there are spectacular views all the way. (See photo of town through little church archway on walk.) What I loved most about staying here was being surrounded by nature and lemon trees and the amazing view!!! . A very special place!!

Dinner was great, but my appetite is small and I would love to have had an option of a one plate dinner option.

We had a fabulous stay. The view from Villa Rina is spectacular and such a cute and romantic place to stay. Rina was a fabulous host making sure your every need was met. We had dinner there every night of our stay. It was top notch farm fresh food from Rina’s garden. With so many courses and of course great Italian wine and lemoncello. I felt like I was eating at a 5 star restaurant.

The view was worth the climb. Everyone was attentive and kind. Rina taught us a lot about her villa and our dinner featured many delights from her garden. The room was spacious, the balcony gorgeous. The highlight of our trip to Italy.

Magnificent views! Rina was helpful in planning our stay and provided an excellent authentic Italian dining experience using her talented cooking skills using fresh ingredients from her garden. This made it special! She is also a gracious host checking up on her guests and making them feel welcomed. Home made lemoncello was also amazing!

The climb was tiring if done multiple times per day but so worth the peaceful serenity that awaits you!
