Pros +
- View of the Matterhorn
- The room and view were great.
- Lovely apartment, fantastic view, lots of space, great kitchen, good tvs in lounge and bedroom, very warm and inviting
Cons -
- My email confirmation stated I could have an extra bed for CHF 50 per extra person and email the hotel requesting this. When I checked in, they said they could not put an extra bed in the room and charged me CHF for a bigger room. That was frustrating.
- We have problem finding the location and checking in. No staff on site. Have to communicate through machine (better than nothing).
- terrible internet, uses the public wifi which more often than not did not connect, slightly out of the way, but not to much of an issue as were able bodied

I loved the room- clean with all the amenities we need, kitchen bathroom etc., the view was nice and it was quiet and peaceful at night.
i didnt like that we had to collect the key somewhere else. I think it should be informed earlier, or maybe i missed it. but anyway it was a small issue
The view was wonderful, very nice balcony. Plenty of comfortable seating. Very clean. Nice, helpful staff.
The coffee maker quit working on our last morning. The window in the smallest bedroom could not open and it was warm. It did have a fan, though. It is a distance from the train station if you have luggage, so plan on having to pay for pick up. The driver was very helpful
We had a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. Not too far of a walk from the funicular and downtown.
The walk into the apartment was up a steep slope which could get icy at times, not super accessible.
Great location and plenty of space
Difficult to use the appliances as not suited to the PowerPoints. No functioning plug for the sink
Overall, a great place to stay in Zermatt. Affordable but still not far from restaurants, skiing, etc. as Zermatt is a very small town. Close to a grocery store and also not far from the main hotel (Alpen) if you need any assistance during your stay.
A few minor points:I found out at check-in that I was upgraded from a studio to a larger suite. On arriving at the upgraded unit, however, I discovered there was a full renovation of the room next to me happening, with frequent construction noises during the day. I get that that's sometimes unavoidable, but I expected a bit more transparency about that. The check-in email I received specifically directed me to use the self-check-in machine at the door to the apartment building. However, upon arriving with all my bags/ski equipment, I discovered the machine wasn't working. After calling the front desk at Alpen, they indicated that my email said that the self-check-in machine was *not* working. (The email definitely said it was working.) Not ideal as I had to trek to Alpen and back again with my bags in the cold before I could get into my room. Finally, the apartments are in a quiet location, but there was a large group of very noisy guests partying on several of the nights which made it hard to sleep. Not the apartments' fault, but it'd be nice if there were clearer reminders upon check-in for guests to be mindful of noise after ~10pm.
For the price, having a whole apartment for yourself is absolutely incredible. The place is modern, very comfortable and super spacious. Zermatt is small so even though it is located on one side of town, it takes only 10 mins to walk anywhere.
Nothing of what I’m going to say is so relevant that would make me not come back in a heartbeat. The property is a residence so it doesn’t have a reception. If you arrive after 4pm (which is early in most cases) you need to check in at the Alpen spa, located 8 mins away. They are super friendly though. The second bad thing I’d mention is that the ramp to get to the property could use some new asphalt to smooth is out, but it’s not horrible.
It was clean.
We were misled/given different type of accommodation than we wanted and paid for.My son and I, 29 and 66 yrs old, rented this room last minute because the gondola to Italy, where our original rental with Booking.com for that evening was located, was shut down for maintenance. We were given a room that had one queen size bed when we were shown and paid for a room with two twin beds. It was around 1600 in the day when I rented it and we did not receive entry instructions. So when we got there my son had to walk back to an associated management company’s location to get the entry instructions in person! When we got into the room and realized this was not what we paid for or wanted, we called and messaged the third party and received no response. I hope after reading this that Booking.com will contact me so we can discuss some sort of compensation for our difficulties. I will attempt to contact you directly but my impression so far is you don’t want to be bothered.
Great location with everything you need! The patio was our favorite and was a great place to watch the rain come down. The kitchenette had everything you need for a simple meal and the room was very well kept.
The only negative about our stay was that the self check in was down, but the property notified us well in advance and had an alternative way for us to check in but it was a little difficult to navigate.
The balcony looks out right on the Matterhorn, it is a 10 minute walk to the train station, and it is away from the noisy section of town. The pictures are taken from the balcony.
I liked it all
Room is spacious and modern. Small kitchen is well equipped. Staff in Hotel Alpen Resort and spa are friendly and helpful. Walkable to city center and cable car station.
Need to check in at another location-Alpen Resort and spa
Spacious, light apt with a well appointed kitchen. Large living space for evenings with friends. Each room has its own bathroom. And watching the Matterhorn emerge from the clouds while sitting on the balcony was a bonus.
The living room furniture is not very comfortable. In one room it was not possible to open the windows.
Everything. Great space, location outside of busy part of town, super helpful staff.
Nothing, everything was prefect.
Nice apartment in Zermatt with near complete cooking facilities. Clean and comfortable. I checked in very late, was given family room at first floor. The view was mostly blocked my another apartment just in front of. If staying in higher floor and on the left corner, probably will have nice views of Mattherhorn. Easy walk to the train station & Gornergrat train station.
Don’t like the idea that have to take all your rubbish and carry all the way to find a public rubbish bin ?,but probably is a Zermatt culture
Very spacious, clean and organized with a great kitchen.
Lovely appartment at the edge of Zermatt, with the sound of the river and view on Matterhorn, kitchen, lounge and everything one needs. Friendly staff at Hotel that took the check-in instead of the machine. Nice communication beforehand to make the stay super nice.
The parking was in a different hotel family in Träsch and had not well sorted its internal communication, which led to a very uncomfortable situation for us.
The spacious rooms, quiet and peaceful area, and the well equipped kitchen! We had a fabulous sleep; the pull out couch was very comfortable (even for an adult). The view was also beautiful and the skylights highlighted the mountains.
The sister hotel (for check-in) was quite a distance away and not incredibly helpful.
Loved that they had a place to store our luggage before late-afternoon check in. Apartment was spacious, clean and nice deck, close to a supermarket, not far from train station
It was almost at the farthest, opposite end of Zermatt, overlooked more of the industrial end of town.
