Hotel Derby

This was my favorite hotel of the trip. Spacious, cute balcony, decor was so cozy. I WILL 100% stay again in this hotel when I go back to zermatt. I would highly recommend. Walking distance to everything. The train to the slopes is right there.

Breakfast was ok, only one server and a few things ran out quick. Pretty packed.

The location is very close to the train station. The staff are very helpful. The room is so comfortable and cozy. The internet connection is strong. Very close to the main street. The elevator is an added comfort

What a wonderfully warm welcome we received from Kristiane! She was so gracious with her time and information. The apartment was spacious and warm and offered everything we needed- and just a few steps from restaurants and bars. Such a short walk from the train station too! Fabulous breakfast as well- a lovely start to the day.

Location was central to station. Walkable to all areas.

Rooms carpet looked like from 1960 era. Bathrooms were small. basic rooms and not worth the money

Fresh updated room with large soaker tub, plus large balcony with table and lounge chairs.

Very small room and sleeping up in the double decker bed was uncomfortable! The mattress was also extra firm and not comfortable.

Hotel is within walking distance from Zermatt station, rooms were clean and really modern even though it looks like an older chalet from the outside and reception. Got a glimpse of the Matterhorn from our room. Had breakfast included in our stay, which had various choices. You could also get 15% discount if you eat at their restaurant.

It was quite warm when we stayed there and even when we opened the door/window from the balcony, it was still quite warm. Did not have a place to store luggages, it was just placed in the seating area at the reception. Also if you need to get a water kettle, you have to make a 20CHF deposit.

Great location on Main Street and easy from train station. Eateries are easy and only foot step away from McD and 5mins from coop supermarket. Hotel guest gets 15% off on hotel restaurant that can really save a lot on bill.

No 24 hours reception

The location was perfect. Easy walking distance to train, restaurants, hiking, sight-seeing, and shops. The staff were professional and polite.

What a wonderful experience! Our hostess greeted us with a smile and kindly allowed us to check in early as our room was ready. Our newly renovated room on the back side was quite nice; spacious, comfortable, plenty of built in storage and outlets. It also had a large outdoor deck which we made good use of, with chaises for sunning, a bistro set plus a view of the Matterhorn! The decor exudes Zermatt, with plenty of pine and historic pictures of the Zermatt area. The hotel has a very good restaurant plus a huge outdoor patio/dining area overlooking Bahnhofstrasse. Breakfast was included- la petit dejuener served buffet style. Of special note, the receptionist and staff here are exceptional, always ready with a smile, pleasantries and recommendations.

No negatives

Everything was great including the restaurant. The only negatives were the street noise and the rooms were very hot. No windows to leave open only doors that allow a small crack at the top. The restaurant was very good.

Location

We couldn’t enjoy the balcony nor let the balcony door open because it had fried food smell from the restaurant downstairs. Breakfast very simple but ok.

Breakfast was very good and location was perfect.

We didn't actually stay in the Hotel Derby because the had a water leak and they put us in the Hotel Continental which was good.

Lovely room close to the train station . Very stylish and comfortable. New style .Right in the action if Main Street .

Lovely family room with bunk beds. Kristiane at the front desk was charming and helpful. Excellent location.

Restaurant staff were grumpy and we felt rushed at breakfast.

Great location and hotel. Loved everything about it. Woman at reception was friendly to us.

Thought it was a little expensive but it is Zermatt.

Was amazed to see it had been renovated in 2020. Was generally much better than anticipated. Also got an upgrade. If it had been hugh season, could possibly be noisey, but was perfect end of May.

Nothing really...

The hotel location is excellent. The view was fabulous from the terrace with the Matterhorn view. The overall cleanliness and the staff service was excellent. Highly recommended if you are traveling with family and young kids. It is in the main street and few minutes walk from gornergrat and zermatt / tasch station.

The entrance and lobby has a foul odor. Not handicapped friendly. The front desk clerk is somewhat of smart ass, didn’t like that at all.
