- Breakfast was excellent. Staff was very helpful. Wine tasting was excellent and very thorough and indepth.
- Pool, restaurants, the castle, everything was just so beautiful and serene
- Staying at this stunning Hotel-Castle in the heart of Tuscany is like stepping into a dream. With origins dating back to 760 AD, the property effortlessly blends history, charm, and modern comfort. Perfectly located, it’s just about an hour’s drive from iconic Tuscan towns like Cortona, Siena, and Montepulciano—making it an ideal base for exploring the region. The castle itself is impeccably maintained, preserving its ancient soul while offering the comforts of a luxury stay. The bar and the restaurant are both exceptional, serving delicious local cuisine and wines with impeccable service. One of the highlights is the beautiful terrace, where you can sit back with a glass of wine and take in the breathtaking views of the rolling Tuscan countryside. The pool is equally delightful—a peaceful spot to relax under the sun, surrounded by nature and history. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the warm and thoughtful attention from the staff. Every detail is taken care of with genuine hospitality. This is more than just a place to stay—it’s a full Tuscan experience. A must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in beauty, culture, and relaxation.
Cons -
- There was a few large bugs in the room, looked like very large ants with stingers on their backs.
- There was a step in the bathroom that became a trip hazard with tiles of the same color. The primary issue is the lack of visual differentiation between the step and the surrounding floor, making it difficult to perceive the change in level

Castello di Tornano is a truly beautiful place – a perfect blend of history, charm, and breathtaking views. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost kindness and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. Their warmth and attention to detail made us feel right at home. The castle itself is magical, surrounded by the peace of the Tuscan countryside. Whether you’re relaxing in the gardens, enjoying a meal, or exploring the area, every moment feels special.I wholeheartedly recommend Castello di Tornano – 100% satisfaction guaranteed!
It’s not every day that you get to stay in a Medieval Castle. Beautiful grounds and a lovely room overlooking the valley. Very quiet and peaceful with plenty of outdoor seating with bar service for relaxing. We had dinner here a couple of nights and it was amazing each time. Tiramisu was delicious! Loved our stay.
Nothing!
Beautiful castle, able to walk around and up the tower to enjoy the view.
No hot water for the shower, and later in the day it was not a consistent temp- too hot or too cold.
The place is truly beautiful. The view is breathtaking, the rooms are cozy and comfortable with an authentic castle feel, and the wine tour was one of the best we’ve experienced – very professional and fascinating.
the attitude of the staff. We requested a sheet change for a medical reason and presented all the required documentation, but they insisted on charging us 60 euros for two sheet changes. Only after a long discussion did they agree to waive the charge, but the whole situation left a bad taste and impacted our entire stay. It’s a beautiful place, but the lack of flexibility and unpleasant service left us disappointed.
The place look amazing, breakfast is good and the staff was so helpful and kind.
It is very old and not so clean in the rooms. There is not enough space in the common areas if the hotel fully booked. They ask you to check out in 10:30
Staff were friendly and the location was excellent with beautiful views. The experience of staying in a place like this is amazing. Their wine tour is also worth-staying.
Amazing beautiful place, swimming pool was amazing, room was stylish and clean, stuff was extremely nice, very good service and the food was just out of this world. The view was magnificent. It is worth every penny, life experience
Beautiful! Phenomenal staff. Food was excellent, pool is clean and beautiful.
Nothing!
The setting around the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, it is quintessential Tuscany, the building are truly rustic and exactly what you would want a Tuscan experience to be
Around the pool could do with an upgrade, the pool is beautiful though but seating around it needs some work
Unique accommodation, beautiful surrounding. Staff were very helpful! Would stay again but have a car
Not the fault of the property- we did not have a car. We were able to get a bus from Siena on the way there but did not realise that the buses do not run on a Sunday- taxi was €100 for a 30min journeyAlso dinner felt very overpriced- vegetarian option for one course was some leek and puree
The garden, the pool, the sense of history, the views of the Tuscan valley. The restaurant meal was also fantastic. The staff were great. Overall a relaxing place and a fantastic experience.
Was great in every way
The staff were very nice and professional. The building is magical and the view is marvelous.
Food was pricey but it’s so not easy to go somewhere else, especially for dinner.
This is a historic castle close to Gaoile.. Easy to go around the beautiful Tuscany region. All the staff were helpful and very friendly. Room in the tower is fantastic
Location and view
Our room was outside the castle, nothing special. There was no drinking water in the room, not even in the fridge, just some strange drink for 5€. It was a coffee machine with only one capsule. Touring the castle and tasting wine was very expensive. A few minutes of sightseeing that you could do yourself, without paying. They charged us 50 euros for a small dog. In the general conditions it is written that it can be calculated (no price is given, so it can be 1000 euros :) ), but the price is really high compared to other hotels. If they had a written price in the general conditions, they would deliberately go elsewhere, where they prefer dogs. The service was very below average. Room had a strange smell, bugs walking on the wall, outdated and with bad lightning. It was hard to carry the lagguage to the room.
The castle itselt is absolutely stunning, the rooms are delicately put together and are the oerfect mix of rustic and functional. The wifi worked great everywhere, the restaurant onsite was splendid. Every single member of staff was incredibly thoughtful and forthcoming. Breakfast buffet was varied.
Upon arrival was stunned by a image of the Tower the beauty of the landscape and the accommodations.
Not the fault of the facility but we had been climbing steps all day until our arrival at the castle which we are then subject to more steps not an easy place to get around.
We loved our stay there. We had an amazing wine tasting session. We had chance to spend time outside although it was cold a little.Rooms are really old but we enjoyed staying there as it was only one night.Food was amazing. Breakfast had many options. Kids..played in fhe garden and loved the fact that they could go up to the tower or see a dungeon.
