Gasthof Zur Sonne

The room was clean and in a good location, it felt newly renovated. The hotel is about a 45 minute drive to Tre Cime di Laveredo. Oskar (I believe the owner) and the waiter were friendly and made us feel comfortable. There is a restaurant in the hotel and it was affordable and delicious.

Parking may be a bit difficult; we had to parallel park on the street.

Nice staff. Large beautiful clean room +bathroom. Best breakfast with lots of selection. Strong WiFi.

A bit far from attractions in Ortisei (about 15-18 minutes drive). But the drive was enjoyable with Mountain views.

Nice room. Half board dinner was very good and filling. Staff was kind.

Parking was a bit of an issue and we had to find somewhere else to park in town.

The staff was so kind, in fact amazing. We booked half pension and the dinner was perfect! It was a starter, a primi as well as a secondi + dessert per person! There were a lot of options in the menu and the portions were really huge. We enjoyed a lot the dinner. The breakfast was also good. The Sud Tirol channel was also interesting played on tv in rooms.

It could just be the weird floor noise that we guessed coming from bathroom counter as you walk in the bathroom. It might be that it wasn’t positioned adequately.

Food was well prepared, staff were eager to please, and the room was spacious and inviting. Laion/Lajen was a treat.

Staff struggled with English, but tried very hard to communicate. The Booking.com listing is entirely in English, but Amenities states that only German and Italian are spoken, as we belatedly discovered. The language limitations should be made more evident in the listing.

Not as good as our previous visit. We booked half board as before, but last time we could take items from the main menu for a supplement and the food was good. This time we had a set menu option only and when we asked about taking something from the main menu the response was just “I don’t know anything about that”. The set menu options were not good. Staff seemed more rushed and much less friendly. The price was also significantly more.

Excellent food at a very reasonable price - we had half board, comfy beds, welcoming owner and staff. Parking right outside (but not a lot of spaces).

The lighting in the room was a bit minimal, but we didn’t spend much time in it so it didn’t matter.

Comfortable room, welcoming to pets, restaurant on premises, good half-board options, very good breakfast, and great value for the price. Beautiful little town!

The proprietor did not respond to the email we sent through Booking, so we did not know if our request to bring our pet was granted until we arrived.
