Hotel Gäubodenhof

Location is just in the middle of downtown. Perfect for visiting Christmas messe! There is retaurant on the ground floor, dishes are good and pricing is reasonable.I was expecting better breakfast selection, though. No warm dishes, just for sandwiches etc.

Car parking is not present, you would need a bit of luck to find place in the inner yard. No elevator, so be ready to transport or luggage to 1st or 2nd floor.

Didn’t like the conditions or location.

I arrived by bicycle @12:00, waited by locked reception door in filthy ally with rotting food in the garbage cans 10 ft away. No safe place I saw to lock my bike overnight, unattended garage was wide open…… I’m outta there. A woman in the Hotels marked van damn near purposely tried to run me over to get me to move out of her way so she could back into the restaurant’s kitchen door so food supplies could be offloaded. I suspect it was the owner….. Frick’n rude.

Right in the middle of the city and still easily accessible. Good Bavarian restaurant and free parking available.

Somewhat dated interior and rooms, but clean nevertheless. Could use a refresh.

The location is very good, right at the main square.

It was a nighmare to park in the town. I left the car in the garage at the shopping centre which was about 100 meters away.The rooms are above the restaurant. The room was OK, but it was very hot. In fact, air conditioning was badly needed, but there was a fan in ghe corridor, which I used. No breakfast.

For 80€/night you would expect to be warm in the room when you arrive. We'll it was cold as ice.. I could rest because of the cold ? ☃️. Parking is in the backyard with a barrier and is shared with some bank and you must ask reception to get in and out, for that I couldn't use my car as i wished to not disturb the receptionist.. Terrible. Room was very old like from the communist era.. I would clasify this location more like a hostel than a hotel. It's for old retired people in my opinion.

The location is great, right in the city center.

Breakfast is simple, there was no hot food except boiled eggs, the same small selection every day. When asked if it was possible to get fried eggs instead of boiled eggs, it was refused, only one employee from Poland did it with a smile for two mornings. Many thanks to the staff from Poland!the room was simple, but the price is not high either.

Hotel is on nice place. Breakfasts were good. Dinners were perfect.

Our room was above the kitchen and we heard the noise from the ventilation from 6:30 to 21 h. Furniture was quite old.

Bicycle garage. Friendly staff and I had a good meal at the restaurant.

the owner lady wasn’t happy booking.com gave us a better price online than the price at the hotelwifi is very weak in room, in order to use it you have to sit by the doorhotel smells like cigarettes and oldstaff in afternoon and night were inattentive

Breakfast was basic at best, and noisy due to building work which started early.The corridor were poorly lit, and not well posted for room direction. The room was cold when I arrived and the carpets... not good

Central location, clean rooms, good central heating

poor selection for breakfast, no elevator, no real room for language keeping, not all staff speaks English or very fair knowledge of the language, Before my stay I called the hotel, international call, they didn't want to speak to me and told me just write us an email. They responded my messages and email months after I sent them my messages. Expensive for a fair 3 star hotel, I booked a shared room, they asked me to pay an extra 10 euro per day, for the shared room (before was 1 person room) whilst they were advertising on Booking.com a twin shared room for 60 euros less! In their messages they wanted me to pay more, because I just modified my booking, So Booking.com couldn't help me, since they accepted to modify my booking. Also in one email they told me one price, (initially the price I paid), and afterwards they asked me to pay the price they just invented whilst on the website, their price was cheaper, I chose the hotel just for the location!

Strangers ran across the corridors in the middle of the night (between 3-4am) and even tried to get into the room. Unfortunately, no one from the hotel was available.

Good friendly restaurant downstairs. Good breakfast.

No WIFI. There was a wifi signal but I could not make a connection on either of my devices. Wifi is important when traveling to help plan visits and future hotels. It is as important as a toilet. I asked about the lack of wifi. Not sure any real effort made. Put a dampened on whole visit. Don't advertise wifi if you don't have it.

Location and friendly staff

The hotel staff kept in contact with me while I was in transit when I had travel delays and assured me that I would be able to check in when I arrived.The location was right on the main plaza which was right next to shops and a variety of places to eat and shops/places to go. The hotel is only about 12 min walk to the train which is also great. I actually didn't eat at the restaurant as I came to Straubing to meet with friends and they wanted to eat other places . . .but there were people eating at the restaurant all day, everyday which is always a good sign.
