Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari Hewitt Resort

For less than US$100 a night, I absolutely enjoyed the freshest, healthiest and most elaborate dinner and breakfast buffet included in the room rate. This onsen resort is a foodie’s haven and a must experience for anyone traveling in the area.

Nothing. Everything from the service, cleanliness, attention to detail to the food was excellent!!! Very highly recommended!!!

Friendly staff, especially the custodians were excellent and keep the place super cleaned, great location, breakfast & dinner were excellent so much food and so many choices at a great prices

The room was arranged well for the space. The breakfast was spectacular. The staff were very helpful. They assisted us in finding a medical clinic nearby. Loved the onsen and the ocean nearby. The trolley was close and convenient. 7-11 was close.

The room size was small for the expense

I stayed here for 1 day during April - Hakodate off-season.Positive: The hotel feels new, the room was clean and nice. The onsen has nice view to the ocean (but no sauna). Negative: The overall service was not great however. There was no shuttle bus from the station despite the distance. The dinner buffet has a variety of options, however the quality seems to not be very high: rice was not hot, no salmon in kaisendon counter, desserts with excessive cheap flavoring, small tables and small walkways that becomes an issue due to being too crowded (I tried to change to a table nearby to avoid the crowds, but was later informed that my new table was reserved-only, despite no indicator or signs prior, or any mentions of the possibility for reservation and was asked to move away). The freshly grilled scallops and crab miso were the highlights. The dining experience felt too similar to a business hotel (super hotel, comfort inn, smile hotel, etc), but this is a leisure hotel and the price was not close.Overall, for this price point, I have enjoyed better services in a myriad of hotels/ryokans throughout Japan before. The cost-performance here is not great.

The onsen and the breakfast were fantastic.

Sometimes, there was only one elevator running and it got crowded so it took a while. Also, my friend was staying on a different floor than me but we could bring each other anything or go to each other’s rooms because the room key only let you go to your own floor.

The view and the Onsen was incredible!! A little far from the station but super close to the airport.

Very beautiful hotel, with a great view of the ocean. The private onsen were amazing and helped us relax after our long days :)

Facilities and staff are nice. The place was overall pretty clean.

Wow! Outside, with the snow and the sound of the ocean waves crashing. Amazing!Breakfast was probably the best I've ever had in Japan. Fresh sashimi, lots of variety too! Their kani miso was delicious with rice. And... All you can drink sparkling and regular wine!

There were incidents beyond hotel control which made our stay uneasy.

Excellent onsen overlooking the water from 12th floor and wonderful food. A real delight to stay at. Felt luxurious

I was refused access to the onsen because I have a tattoo. The HOTEL'S ADVERTISING said you could still use the private onsen but I was refused this option.
