    • The buffet was one of the best we had on our road trip through Hokkaido. The room and the tidying/bed making service were perfect. The staff was always very gentle, welcoming and clear with instructions. There was no delay on the time assigned for dinner/breakfast (it has happened in other stays so it can be noticed positively here).
    • Location , onsen
    • In beautiful Sounkyo canyon. Great Japanese buffet dinner

    Cons -

    • If there's only thing I would like to change at this stay was the mold in the hot baths on the ground floor (we didn't visit the others). We've been to many hot springs during our trip and that was the only one with this amount of mold that was even falling down into the bath. This is not safe nor clean. We have been to hot springs in small country side villages and it was pristine. Please treat this issue seriously as this is a hygiene matter.
    • Air conditioning at main open buffet restaurant

The hotel is located up on a hill between mountains near (easy walk) to the Sounkyo Onsen town rope way and the National Park office. Our room had a beautiful mountain view. Loved the onsens it had three onsens my favorite was located on the seventh floor with an outdoor pool facing the mountain. The staff was amazing they worked hard to accommodate any requests we had. Many staff members spoke English. The buffet had a great variety of Japanese and western cuisine. I personally loved the variety of sashimi and warm rice. We stayed in a Japanese style room and the sleeping mats were comfortable. The room was large and clean. The hotel also offered a performance by the Ainu women which an enriching experience. We also had lots of fun playing bingo.

    Location

Old property. Not in a good condition. Our room lock was broken. The onsen looked tiered. Breakfast with limited options of western food.

    8phusaneePosted on: 5-13-2025

There’re 3 onsen located in this hotel.

We go quite late that night, i tried to notice the staff through Booking messenger, but no one answer. Maybe that isn’t the best way to contact them, but i’m not sure how to. I feel like breakfast don’t reach my expectation (didn’t have dinner cause we come too late) You better reach hotel since afternoon, if you come too late, you may encounter a lot of animal during your way. (Deer, raccoon dog, rabbit, fox all along the way) You might get accident easily. ( not good for your rented-car)

The room was very spacious and clean. Staff were extremely helpful, supportive and kind. The breakfast and dinner were very good and had a lot of variety. Finally, the property had 3 amazing onsens with great views and facilities. Overall great stay in a great hotel and we are extremely happy. We would definitely return.

    10CheukPosted on: 2-19-2025

Excellent meals and service from front desk, provided sufficient restaurants and vending machine. Shuttle bus provided for ice festival nearby, excellent onsen facilities.

The lady staff who can speak Chinese is very friendly and helpful. She tries her best to ask around for refund the additional adult booking I made mistakenly. Thank you staff:-)

The B1 Onsen closed around 9.30am onwards:-(

Love the Onsen and futon + tatami

None. Very happy with the stay

I like the hot bath in the room, the size of the room and the view from it.The lobby is nicely decorated. The dinner was excellent.

The aircon in the room wasn't functioning well and it was really hot at night. The shower and toilet are a bit old and stuffy.

    6IrenePosted on: 10-27-2024

The hotel provides free shuttle bus between Ashahikawa station and the hotel which is an excellent experience to the customer as it saved a lot of travel time and money.

The hygiene condition in the bedroom was a bit disappointed to me as we found some leftover in the tea cup and milk split in the Youkata in the bedroom

    8ZhongPosted on: 10-27-2024

We spent two nights in this traditional Japanese hot spring resort with 70 years history, which has three onsen pools. From the Japanese-styled room we could see views of the snow mountains in Sounkyo. The free shuttle bus between Asahikawa and the hotel has provided great convenience to us.The hotel’s buffet breakfast and lunch are tasty with a wide variety of options, although the group tourists will make it crowded and disorderly…

The room facilities, due to the age of the hotel, are apparently old and outdated, which need to be renovated.

    9SudumpaiPosted on: 10-21-2024

Food is great though with lots of variety. Our room is great , many onsen in one big hotel. Nice view from our window. My son dropped his retainer five hours before he realized it and reception kept it for us. Thanks.

There was group tour which make the noise in buffet room so loud. Free parking

    7SolarbomberPosted on: 10-20-2024

The staff speaks English really well and are very nice and helpful. There are 3 Onsen in the hotel indoor, outdoor and both.Variety of foods for breakfast and dinner. Not far from Momijidani and illumination.

Quite small roomThe taste of the food is average

Like the staff, professional and helpful

A bit aging room at East Wing.

    8Chi M.Posted on: 9-28-2024

It was clean and comfortable. The food was great.

In stead of using futon, they use egg crate foam for mattress at tatami room. I doubled up and layer the comforter over the egg crate foam to be comfortable. Need to get rid of mold in bathroom using vinegar or bleach.Do not recommend tatami room.

    8JohnPosted on: 9-10-2024

Great location on top of the Sounkyo. Short walk to the ropeway. We booked a room with private bath. There is 3 onsen (2 with outdoor baths). Staff was friendly and approachable.

The buffet dinner at Hinna was average. I expected much better quality for a premium onsen hotel.
