Pros +
- The staff were super accommodating and allowed us to stay in another room when we accidentally reserved for the wrong day, at no extra charge. Very thankful.
- The location was great. We could go to the restaurant so easy. The ice candy, drink and ramen service were awesome! The coffee was delicious.
- Great onsen spa and amenities (crystal clear water, tile covered “lounge chairs” in the water, shaving supplies and ice cream for afterwards). Cold plunge pools and a sauna in addition to outdoor and indoor hot pools. Free ramen after 9pm that made for a tasty meal. Also great small restaurants across the street and down a short block. Great value, nice and helpful staff. We have visited 6 onsen hotels on this trip. This was the least traditional as we did not have to remove shoes when entering our room but overall this was the best!!
Cons -
- The breakfast was ok. The most veggies were previously frozen. And we were a little disappointed the restaurant we can use a hotel discount . Smokey and loud.
- Location in town but balanced by great little restaurants close by.
- Room lighting can be improved. Breakfast spread maybe can provide some basic cereal to take with the milk.

Location in town but balanced by great little restaurants close by.
Breakfast was simple but high quality ingredients (great tasting chicken karage) and night ramen tasted good. Location was ideal if driving as the carpark is located beside the hotel.
Room lighting can be improved. Breakfast spread maybe can provide some basic cereal to take with the milk.
Good location, good onsen with complimentary ice cream, convenient parking
Window can be opened for fresh air, but many insects would enter the room. There’s no warning about that (at least not available in English)
The onsen was the saving grace of this hotel.
The room is small. Only one tiny and very hard pillow was provided.
The rooms were large and comfortable. The onsen was very nice. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. The beds were very comfortable.
This was the second location of Dormy Inn I've stayed at. This was similar. They are generally an insane value. It was priced extremely well, considering that onsen is included, as well as a full breakfast buffet. The hotel staff was very accommodating and even let me store my bicycle in the lobby, instead of outside, which was very nice. It's very much a chain, so this isn't the place if you're looking for a personal touch, but the hotel had plenty of staff to expedite check-in for everyone and they were very attentive. It's a very well-run chain. I would stay in any of these hotels again - largely because in my experience, the value is hard to beat - the onsen and breakfast for less than the price of a lot of hotels that have neither of these things.
Great onsen
Location walkable, but a bit far from the station
Hotel is ok, small rooms, nothing too fancy. If you want a hotel with public bath/onsen, it comes with it alongside with free ice cream after the onsen. They also serve ramen for supper! There is also FOC self washer, but for paid coin dryer. Location is convenient, minutes walk away from food street and we can also walk to aeon. We didn’t opt for breakfast, so I can’t comment on the breakfast though.
Kind staff, very good bath. Free ramen at night (did not try though). Free coffee at reception. No extra charge for our delayed morning return to pack& checkout, but instead staff nicely gathered our belongings - great thanks!
A tiny bit further away from the station, add this aspect if have luggage
Central location, close to local restaurants. Easily accessible by public transport (bus) from the airport
Small room, only one bath towel.
One of the best accommodations in Japan. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Requesting cleaning, towel change and do not disturb is one of their best systems. The sento is great with options, inside and outside rooftop sections, with free ice creams any popsicle, just outside. The staff is insanely helpful, I left my card in my room and they just helped with no charge and I left my luggage with them early and they moved it to my room for me.Plus, just across the street is the bus that goes right to the airport. The stop is before Asahikawa Station and you are garunteed a good seat when you have to fly out
The shower head does not face you. You can't take a comfortable shower. You always have to hold the shower head. This might be an issue with room 914 only. Otherwise, it's just bad design.
Great location. Amazing onsen on the top floor with complementary ice cream/fermented milk treat for after your soak. Complimentary late night noodles. Large parking area.
Location was excellent. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, convenience store is across the street. You can also walk to the JR Asahikawa station, about 15 min walk. Some ski areas are within about 30min drive from the property. Onsen at the top floor is super relaxing.
We did not eat breakfast at the property. It seemed like the breakfast buffet was not as good as the other Dormy Inns in larger cities such as Tokyo and Kyoto. I guess Asahikawa is not as big as those cities, so fewer people, fewer selections.
The buffet is top notch , hotel is across the road from ticket office and lifts great location
The hotel located just opposite 7-11 which was really convenience and also really close to restaurants and many izakaya places which was really convenience. Parking cost ¥1000 a night but is really convenience.
Overall the place is really nice and convenience. The receptions were really helpful but need to improve on english communication with foreigner guests
Overall, facilities and cleanliness the usual high quality for dormy inn
Staff not understanding about booking or confirmation never. Jumped to conclusion and unable to
Onsen, walking distance to food, parking onsite
The Onsen. The location is a bit far from the station but taxis are plentiful and reasonably priced. The location is favorable from the point of view of ashiakawa‘s beautiful city park and nearby restaurants.
