Pros +
- Stepping into Palais Porcia felt like entering a museum - ornate décor, classical paintings, and antique furniture everywhere. The location couldn’t be better, right on Neuer Platz. If you like grand old hotels with a story, this one’s for you. It’s not sleek or modern, but it makes up for it with personality and charm. Perfect location for exploring Klagenfurt on foot.A special thank you to Velina at the front desk - she was exceptionally kind, professional, and made check-in smooth and welcoming.
- Looks just beautiful, is right in the center and everything is very accessible.
- Clean and distubguished old achetecture and finishings, ornate reception and dining area. Great view onto the square with mountains in the background.
Cons -
- At times might feel just 'old', not a big fan of the yellowish mattress cover for example. But you're still in a palace, so that's fine!
- The air conditioning is poor and in summer time doesn’t cooling the room. Breakfast is for 25 euro per person. The cleanliness has to be improved.
- The shower could be improved: there was no shower curtain, so water splashed everywhere. Also, the shower head was installed at a low level in the middle of the bath, which isn't ideal if you're tall.

The place location is great. Close to the city center. The staff were welcoming and responsive..

Certainly a palatial feel. Perfect location.

The location was very good and the staff was friendly.
It feels like the furniture and the wallpapers are old, so there was a kind of smelling, that I need to get used to.
Staff were friendly location was brilliant and the check in time was reasonable was impressed
Amazing decoration very authentic. Clean, quite warm.
The way to access the room is a bit strange since the elevator goes only until the reception, and then you have to use the stairs. The breakfast buffet was nothing special. It could be improved a lot.
staff were very nice, they helped with any problem we had right away and with a big smile. the hotel looks like a real palace, its probably one of the best hotels ive been to. overall it just feels like one of those "wins" when booking a hotel.
nothing. it was really all great.
The hotel is beautiful, looks like a museum! Also right across the street from the main Christmas market, I could see it all from my window! The room was spacious and beautiful.
LocationBreakfast Size of roomSmart TV
1 - check in desk on a different floor that entrance which was unexpected 2 - extra parking charges for daytime parking- only evening was free3 - not enough electric plugs in room to charge phones especailly by beds4 - bathroom was not ensuite even though we booked a suite5 - lamps were not plugged into sockets in bedroom
This hotel is like a Palace. You feel like a King and Queen as it is so beautifully decorated. It's also closed off from the street and it has a calm and restful feeling to it. The breakfast room is simply stunning. I recommend you have Breakfast as the Breakfast Room is mind blowing. Ornaments and mirrors everywhere. Incredible artwork. Beautiful carpets. Also perfectly located in the centre of Klagenfurt and opposite the tourist information where you can also hire bikes. Parking is in the normal car park directly next to the hotel. Make sure you do NOT go into the car park before checking in as they have a preferred rate for hotel guests. Unload and check in whilst leaving the car in the hotel unloading bay.
Location, refined historic building with modern facilities excellently decorated. Car park easy access even with very short street walk.
No keyless room door entry, no complimentary water provided.
Great location, reasonably quiet (very little traffic at night), good breakfast, clean, very baroque ("plüschig") atmosphere
Location
At night there is too much noise from the corridor and in the morning the room is not dark enough, it is impossible to sleep in the morning
The breakfast, the location and the friendliness of the staff were first class.
The place was amazing, a real palace! Every detail is a piece of art. The breakfast was also amazing, with nice fruits, sweets, yogurt and a very coffee.
The bed was a bit noisy and not so comfortable considering the pattern of the hotel.
Very kind and professional staff especially at the reception, the air conditioning in the room worked really good.
The breakfast was not so good quality and not many options.
It’s very very fancy and ornate. Probably the fanciest looking hotel I have ever seen.
The breakfast was overpriced for what you get. A buffet of yogurt, cereal, bread, jam and coffee for 25 euros. The whole hotel was on the dark side and needed some natural light. It lacked windows and the air conditioner did not cool the room down well.
The overall atmosphere ist really great - if you like that kind of furniture-style. The Room was very spacious. The bed was super comfy for us, because it had a hard mattress.
Staff couldn’t speak the (german!) language very good, so the Check-In/Check-Out was a bit tiring to wade though. The Receptionist „tried“ to tell us when we could enter the hotel and when not, which elevator we could use to get to which floor, some staircases where „closed“ (Fire hazard?) so you alsways had to wait for the elevator. Even if the furniture is in a specific style, stuff like the shower head or bathtube should really be changed to something modern but still looking the style, because the wear and tear was clearly visible and not very sanitary. Most disappointing was the breakfast. Everything was so Careless displayed, no fresh products, an inexperienced staff (again no german, or english), No healthy or lactosefree products (becel margarine is really common in all hotels these days), breakfast room is in the same style like everyhing else, but there are no windows or any kind of natural light and so you feel a little bit like in a cellar prison, everything is overwhelming, not something you want for a good start in the morning.
