Pros +

  • The pictures did not even do justice the property. It is absolutely beautiful !! Many spots to see the Mediterranean and the staff was exceptional and went out of their way by far!
  • We stayed at The Old Mill for our 4th anniversary, 3 nights in the junior suite, and absolutely loved it. The hotel has such a calm, vintage charm—perfect if you want to escape routine life. The pool area is really cute, the ambience so peaceful, and the room was super comfy. The staff were genuinely kind and warm—special thanks to Juju from the Philippines and Zak from Pakistan who made us feel truly welcomed. Food quality was also really nice. The only small challenge is parking if you’re coming by car, but apart from that, everything was just perfect. A place we’ll always remember with love. ❤️
  • Only view from room and food was really tasty

Cons -

  • Too much noise, pool was dirty, it is very hard to get to location, first they gave as number without balcony but we reserved with balcony after they changed it
  • Some might find the shower small, but it wasn't a problem for me at all. Also note that there are a lot of stairs, but I want to point out again the friendly staffed that helped me get all my things. No complaints from me, just a heads up for those who consider a stay here.
  • Nothing to complain about. We loved our stay 100 per cent.

Atmospheric old property with incredible views from lapta to the sea

This hotel was an amazing experience that I will always cherish. I was there during off-season which meant it was calm and quiet. Before my arrival they were easy to contact and Bartu truly makes sure you have a pleasant stay throughout your visit. The staff at the time did not speak much English - which I'm aware a lot of people immediately consider a negative thing - but this staff was among the most service-minded I have come across in my years as both a frequent traveller and during my time as employed at one of Swedens most well-known 4-star hotels. It was clear they wanted to assist as much as they could, and they did. The thing I loved the most was the food! I've been to North Cyprus four times before and have yet to eat food as good as at Old Mill Lapta. The quesadillas were delicious!About the room; first of all, North Cyprus is not the place to go and expect Scandinavian standards, so please keep that in mind. However, I loved the rough design combined with softer elements. The room has everything you need IMO, and the bed was comfortable (I stayed 4 nights). Old Mill Lapta was a perfect place for me to stay as a solo traveler who wanted to enjoy being close to nature and be inspired. I strongly recommend it to those who appreciate picturesque places and good food.

Some might find the shower small, but it wasn't a problem for me at all. Also note that there are a lot of stairs, but I want to point out again the friendly staffed that helped me get all my things. No complaints from me, just a heads up for those who consider a stay here.

Friendly helpful owner. Beautiful public spaces. The best food in Cyprus. Lovely big balcony overlooking the sea & a pool. The hotel may need a few tweaks in places but bear in mind this guys hotel was flooded last year & his tenacity to reopen a successful business is only to be admired & we wish him well with this season.

Nothing to complain about. We loved our stay 100 per cent.

It was a very pleasant experience. The rooms were very beautiful and had everything you might need. The owner was very helpful with everything. He also upgraded our room. However I believe the premises need a little outside renovation.

This is a very unique property in a magical location. Rustic and tradtional outside and in, rooms are pleasingly basic , clean and comfortable, with a balcony offering an incredible viewHeating worked well as it was a chilly evening.Staff are very friendly and even with limted english served us meatfree dinner and breakfast which was all deliciousThe host is very keen to please, hunting me out a very nice pinot grigio from their bar.Having only been there for 4 months he has many plans to provide a relaxing and beautiful hotel retreat.Come the summer, with warm weather there is a pool and lots of shaded area to sit, drink and relax We have plans to return later in the seasonThis is a very special place making the journey up the mountain worth taking .

We did not have any coffee sachets or milk in our room only teabags, but this is very minor and were given complimentary drinks on arrival

It is off the beaten path but so worth it they could not do enough for us was a last minute valentine's break and was sooo romantic they pulled out all the stops think candles rose petals cheap but good 3 course meal chef knows what he is doing even live singers who were amazing singing in English and Turkish the bar area made it! In a cave like setting water features fires mood lighting small but perfect little place. Should definitely be on the map which it wasn't they need to sort that for people to find them ☺️

Nothing it was perfect

Quirky. Good quality fittings. Very comfortable. Fabulous food. Amazing owner and staff. Osman was a huge help to us.

10MartaPosted on: 1-3-2025

I liked the welcoming atmosphere which has been created by very kind and friendly staff and indoor decorations were completing it. The food was very delicious and well made. I would recommend this place without any doubt 10 out of 10 and I'm sure we will come back there whenever we're planning to visit Girne.

The only thing was that prices in the bar compared to the accommodation were a bit too expensive as for the region. We were there during the Christmas period and I think that they were short on staff as the place didn't seem to be fully booked but when we arrived we had to wait an hour for our room to be ready. In the meantime we were offered free teas and coffees.

Nice view and cozy place.

-The floor was concrete. No slippers were provided for walking around the room. When we asked for slippers, we were told they didn’t have any and were waiting for a delivery.-The floor was dirty.-The windows were not insulated. The weather was cold, and even though the air conditioner was running at full power, the room still felt cold.-The hallway had an additional bed, but it didn’t have any lighting or air conditioning. There were exposed wires hanging from the ceiling.-The soap near the sink was solid (not an issue), but it had hair on it (a big problem).-The shower cabin was poorly designed. Because of the type of walls, I scratched my knee while showering (the cabin was very small).

Very nice staff, modern and old in an interesting combination, situated on the upper part of the village with marvellous view, stylish and with a concept of preserving the old and make it accessible. Clean and fully equipped, nice breakfast.

Humidity in the room, bathroom too small, the electricity-engine in front of the room was loud all night long, the curtain did not work so it was neither dark nor was the door covered.

A really fabulous boutique hotel with beautiful rooms and all sorts of wonderful places to relax and enjoy the views. The swimming pool was clean and a great place to cool off after the heat of the day. The restaurant was excellent, as was the breakfast. A real gem of a place ?
