Design Hotel Winterrot

It was a beautiful hotel. Wonderful, friendly staff. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were large and very nice.The location was good for us as a stopover on the way to Munich. We had a nice breakfast. I couldn't find any faults with the hotel.

It was all pretty much perfect.

This hotel is new and everything was super clean and modern. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great.

It's in the middle of a new business park area so it's surrounded by empty lots and building construction. This didn't bother us because we were there for 1 night to break up driving and it's literally 1min off the freeway. That said, we arrived around 8.30pm (with kids) and were hoping to enjoy a lovely meal at their restaurant (as advertised on their website). Upon arrival, we were told that the kitchen was 'under construction' so they could only offer a Mediterranean grazing plate and little pizzas and flammkuchen, which we ordered. The grazing plate was tasty but pricey and the mini pizzas we ordered for the kids were substandard and also pricey. I feel the hotel should have forewarned us about the kitchen so we could have organised to have dinner en route. We (especially the kids) were too tired after a day of travelling for us to consider going back out and trying to find a restaurant nearby.

Perfect location close to the motorway, on our drive from Belgium to Austria. The room was very cosy and stylish. The shower was excellent. The breakfast was varied with enough choices to meet our expectations. We had dinner in the restaurant the evening we arrived, and the food was very delicious and reasonably priced.

Nothing. A king room was booked and the room had a queen bed. Although I asked twice if my daughter aged 2 could sleep with me while booking, I was told that this was not allowed by the owner/manager once I was there.

The staff was unfriendly. At check-in, we were never told that we were not allowed to eat in the room. With two small kids, we decided to order food as they were tired after a long drive and the kids did not want to eat in the restaurant. As we picked up the food downstairs, the receptionist was very unfriendly, stating that their house rules do not allow eating in the room. She called the boss/owner who was utterly pretentious and unfriendly, who said he would have to get the room cleaned for two days as the room has textile stuff (bed sheet, curtains etc) and that he would charge us 250€. He threatened to call the police and would not be accommodating at all to the fact that our kids (2 years and 6 months baby) needed to eat. He first offered that we eat downstairs in the winter garden and then changed his mind. We had only ordered pizza and made sure that there was no damage whatsoever. This house rule is not stated in their policies on booking.com or in their terms and conditions on their website, which stated that no food is allowed during events. The inhospitable attitude during our stay was a shame, and we would have never booked this hotel if we knew their lack of flexibility for people with families. This is not the level expected of a supposedly 4-star hotel. We have stayed in many hotels that are 4 or 5 star that are way more accommodating and even offer room service. It appeared here that they want their customers to forcefully use their restaurant, which is overly expensive. Their breakfast was 24€ per person and the choice was very limited for that price.The room was small, and although we booked a king room, the bed was at most a queen bed. The room and the corridor were extremely cold as we entered. It was clear that the owner was being a penny cruncher and not heating the place (in November). The hotel seems relatively new, is furnished in an arty style, and has a shiny decor, which makes the owner think he has a palace made of gold.

The bedroom was very comfortable and modern. Staff were very helpful and friendly, good breakfast and nice evening meal.

On the edge of an industrial estate. This didn't really affect us as we were using it as a stopover for our journey from Northern Italy up to Europoort in the Netherlands. It was minutes away from the Autobahn.

Very comfy beds and the staff was very kind and helpful. Everything was properly clean and the facilities in the room where great as well.

We had dinner at the hotel and that was a bit of a dissapointment. It wasn't bad but it was way to overpriced for the quality of the food.

Air conditioning did not work well enough so we had an uncomfortable night. Fridge did not work at all so no cold water on a very hot day.

The staff were all very friendly both at reception and in the restaurant. The room was decorated to a high standard. It felt like we were staying at a much more expensive hotel. We had both breakfast and an evening meal and they were delicious. Lovely place to spend my birthday evening.

misleading info - this is not a wellness/spa hotel. the gym and spa are small converted bedrooms. there’s no room in the “gym” other than to use the equipment. the sauna is extra cost and neither are inviting at all. it’s also in a building site, a long way from anything so you must have a car. breakfast was €24 pp which is more than dinner! very disappointed, felt we very much overpaid
