Hotel Don Abbondio

Clean friendly, close to lake ,free parking , breakfast was good ,

Location on the lake was amazing. Made for nice morning and evening walks. Old school hotel run by a charming pair. Rooms were dated, but fit the character perfectly.

While we received seemingly fresh towels in the morning, they had this mildewy smell - like they were washed but not enough soap was used.

Lovely location and very historical building . Owners were wonderful and treated us very well!

Location is very good and views in front of hotel are charming near the lake. Owners are very nice and ready to help, they even assisted us to find some good parking near the hotel. Rooms where very clean as well.

Breakfast menu needs to be totally revamped and includes more choice + quantity. The only highlight in the breakfast were the croissants, other than this nothing special, just cheese, some ham, salami, eggs and toast (apart of some cereal, yogurt and jams) . Another thing is parking, you need to do some good hunting to find a good parking place. One last thing is that we feel that the room should at least have an electric kettle.

The Staffs are so friendly and helpfull..Rooms are big and clean. The location just so beautiful facing the lake.

The staff were very pleasant. Our room was clean, however the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke. This is the primary reason for my rating.

Very good place. The staff is very friendly the place is in a quiet and cosy part of the town. Very beautiful view from room to the mountains. Nice and cosy terrace.

Such a lovely hotel on a perfect location. Mr Luciano is so kind and helpful, he made us feel very welcome.

Location was good. Do Not left your car on the neighbors place. I have received a fine!Breakfast was acceptable. Cleanness was poor.

Maybe in the summer time would be better place to visit.

The Hotel is located just in front of the river Adda and in a quiet place. The room was very big, clean and the bed really comfortable. About 15-20 minutes by walk from the train station with bus option closer. Beautiful view on the mountains, Como Lake and this place is really famous because of the novel "The Betrothed" by Alessandro Manzoni.

The room was with balkony, which was great ,you can enjoy the views around the hotel and they are stunning

There was no kettle and coffee/tea provided in the room, and there was only 1 pillow per person , no shampoo, just shower gel and soap

The location, it was quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean.

The bathroom shower needs a good clean job. The beds were comfortable. The AC was adequate.

Quiet place, near the lake, big room, same bathroom, there are 3 restaurants, one right next to the hotel, where you can go in the evening.It is very easy to reach Varenna by train, 20 minutes, and from there by ferry to Bellagio, 15 minutes.

The distance to the train station and the center, 25 minutes on foot, but I knew that.

Bad

Hosts were very rude, accused us of avoiding paying the room charge. Not at time of check in, but at 11:50 pm.

Traditional quaint hotel located overlooking the lake. The gentleman who welcomed us on arrival was very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was very basic. Cereal was uncovered and soft. It was a 25 minute walk from train station but we found a bus stop 2 mins way the next day which takes you to the centre. Hotel just needs a wee bit of tlc and a freshen up to stand out. Not much near it only a couple of restaurants.

Very friendly staff, walked us to the room and showed how everything worked (the air conditioner and so on) clean and fresch room and bathroom. Perfectly ok breakfast. Nice location by the water.

It is good. But difficult to find near by public parking because there is no private parking

No lift

Great location, not a far walk to Lecco centre. Beautiful scenery, view from outside the hotel is superb. Room was super spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great, plenty of choices and delicious fresh brioches. Hosts were very lovely and accommodating!
