Pros +
- Easy access, elevators. Quiet and so very clean. My choice for next trip over.

- The staff were wonderful. I arrived early by train, and the woman at the counter found a clean room for me early in the morning. She also gave me a rundown of what was in the general area. I've stayed at many Best Westerns, but this has to be the best I've stayed in. I was surprised by the hotel.
Cons -
- Couldnt reach the hotel or park near it, road detours and construction, no advice beforehand from booking.com, no clear map/instructions, mattress was worn out in room
- The breakfast room wasn’t very appealing. We really liked their own Brasserie, excellent food, wonderful service.

I was just traveling through, so I didn’t spend much time there, but the staff were very friendly. The hotel is right in the city center, in a pretty area next to a square with a fountain. The room was very clean, and all of this came at a really good price.
Old french charme….
The breakfast room wasn’t very appealing. We really liked their own Brasserie, excellent food, wonderful service.
Central location, large rooms, good breakfast and competent staff.
A bit pricey....
I loved that this was a traditional French hotel which has maintained its look and feel. It may be owned by Best Western but it feels like a normal, nice French Hotel with restaurant and a very nice breakfast buffet. I loved that there was recycling available because this is one of my issues when traveling. This Hotel was a very easy walk from the Theater and an extensive Saturday farmer’s market. Two sights to see in town — cloister and 17th century apothecary are also walkable.
I wish I had chosen a room with two windows. There were quite a few rooms with 2 windows but I didn’t know enough at the time of reservng. My room was nice but the central rooms with 2 windows were really spacious and lovely.
Good location, friendly staff, private parking garage
Average quality breakfast, poor coffee quality
A good breakfast selection. Excellent location in Bourg-en-Bresse, though as of April 2025, a bit hard to reach given the disruption of the roads in B-en-B (obviously not the fault of the hotel). The desk staff was helpful, and the rooms were fairly spacious by current standards. And we enjoyed the touches from the old days, such as the floor tiles of the entrance.
Though the hotel was very clean, it could use a bit of work, e.g. to remove a bit of mould in the showers. The carpets are OK, but are beginning to show their age. The shower fixture did not work so well.
The restaurant is simply brilliant - the service and food are perfection. It is our third visit and the the restaurant is the reason we come back. Our room on this occasion was average, with a bit of a whiff present but clean. Would have been good to have had towels for two laid out and maybe more coffee for the in room coffee machine but other than that acceptable.
Breakfast was good value for money. Location is perfect, right in the centre of the old town.
Unfortunately the parking garage was full and we had to park our car in the street.
Superb central location. Good size room and nice bathroom, all spotless. Made use of bar and restaurant, not venturing out this time as it was a horribly wet evening.
The view from window of queen room was an internal utility area, no real value, waste of glass
We did not eat at the hotel. The receptionist Martin was very helpful
It was not easy to get to you by car.
Beautiful hotel. Reception staff were fantastic- so helpful with Dinner reservations. Lovely room
Would have liked to have had milk in my room rather than creamer for tea.
Great once we got there
Very difficult to arrive by car, as road works and new street layout meant that there was only one poorly signposted entrance street. All local signs to hotel are out of date and lead you round the confusing one way system in repetitive circles.
Its a perfect stop on route to the Alps. We always eat in the restaurant which is very good and then have an easy drive up into the mountains.
Its a little tired in parts but that adds to its charm. In the 1960’s Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor stayed here; the was a photo of them in the lobby but its sadly since been moved.
Centrally located in a beautiful old building with parking right in front. Comfy bed.
Outdated and tired rooms
Location, staff, shower was hot and forceful.
Abit shabby, floors abit squeaky. Dinning room was cold at breakfast.
Tucked away but central location and quiet. Dinner was just right for tired travellers.
Entrance from hotel to dining room meant staff did not see us waiting for several minutes which disturbed other diners.
The staff was helpful and friendly… beds and pillows were comfortable…there was a church close by however it was not noisy…
since it is a wooden building (which is nice as a structure), it was making noise during the night…
