Pros +
- Location/view
- Reception staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Room was large and well appointed. Very good italian restaurant attached to the hotel. Good position for getting lake cruises. Bus stop directly outside for getting to and from the train station (but only one per hour and limited times)
- The hotel site is amazing, right off the pier with easy access to transportation via boat, bus or train. We had the Swiss travel pass so we didn't need this, but the hotel offered free transportation via the boat and bus with their special pass during your stay. The restaurant in the hotel offered delicious italian food, wine and breathtaking view of Lake Thune (indoor and outdoor). The complimentary breakfast has cold and hot options with a nice set up. It's an easy walk to the castle, to other nearby restaurants and even to downtown Spiez.
Cons -
- Don't expect to be able to book a taxi in Spiez if you want to go early to the train station. I needed to catch a train just after 6 a.m. and four taxi firms said they were not able to provide a taxi at that time.
- Our room itself was a bit sparse and dated. We had the 2 bedroom apartments with a kitchen to cook and a small room with table and couch in addition to the bedrooms. When we peeked in the rooms that were just vacated by guests who had checked out, we see that other rooms have been updated with a much nicer bathroom and overall appearance of the suite. We would love to return, but possibly opt for 2 suites rather than the apartment option
- We booked an apartment with 2 bedrooms.. Couldn't get into it until after 16.00. We had an appointment with friends and got to the apartment at 20.00. One of the bedrooms was locked. So we had to share one bedroom. Very awkward! No one was around. To open the second bed door!I expect some refund compensation!

Lake view was amazing. Breakfast was great.
Slightly older facility. Restaurant below so it was a little noisy.
Good location in front of the lake.
Terrible. It’s raining more inside the hotel by the stairs than outside. They have to repair the ceiling and the roof. The bathroom was overflowing. And the mosquitoes. So hot and they Didn’t have a/c.they put 1 small soap. Not body lotion, not shampoo.
Gorgeous, location - the views are breathtaking; exceptional breakfast - met everyone in the family's needs. Quiet room with all you needed.
Stairs - no lift.
Very clean, beautiful balcony, romantic lake, yummy breakfast and dinner, staff were ALL great. We really liked our waiter at dinner. Their restaurant is fancy. This was my husband's favorite hotel we stayed in on this trip. Superb location right next to the water.
If they told us where to park in advance, I did not see that. It was confusing where to park our car, but the nice receptionist came out and showed us personally where to park. A photo of our parking options in advance would be helpful.
View and location.
Warm room.No AC.
Selected this hotel because it was close to the Pier/Ferry to go to Sigriswil bridge. Spiez schiffstation is behind the hotel and travel to Gunten (see). Italian restaurant at the hotel was nice and had dinner there but we skip the breakfast as we had to leave early but frontdesk pre-pack an ham sandwich to go.
No elevator
The location of the hotel and friendly helpful staff. Great Breakfast.
NA
Breakfast was brilliant and the fresh Crussaint and fruits were delicious
More car parking space would have been very helpful
Welcoming staff, clean room, and beautiful view from the balcony. You can see wear and tear in the room, but it didn't affect my stay.I was able to check in early (the room was already cleaned) without any additional pay, which was a big plus.
Great location but hôtel below our expectations, was nothing spécial. Particularly the staff taking everything away at 10:00 from the breakfast table did not give a very friendly attention. We are disappointed. Nothing of a boutique hotel. Not very romantique. My wife and I were disappointed.
It is a fantastic location on the lake, next to the ferry terminal, an easy walk downhill from the train station, but there is a bus stop right there too. Oh, it is next to the castle. The staff were super nice.
Fruits in the breakfast, view from the balcony, cozy and warm light in the room
Lack of disposable slippers
Very good location with amazing view, bus stop and ferry pier just outside of the hotel. Free bus around the lake if you ask for a panorama card at the reception.Spacious room with big windows, modern bathroom and quite good breakfast, even for vegetarians and vegans, nice kitchen staff.
Unfortunately my stay wasn't as pleasant as it could be.At the beginning I didn't want to leave any negative reviews as I tried to look at everything from a positive point of view, you know, nice location, nice view, nice food, however during the checkout I changed my mind. When we arrived everything was fine, the receptionist was helpful, showed the room and gave us a charger for a mobile phone to use during our stay, as our european one wasn't fit to the socket for some reason. She said that there will be no hot water from 10pm to 4am due to some repair work, which was alright, because we were in the room before that time.At 10pm we went to bed but couldn't fall asleep until ~2am, the reason for it was the very loud sound of drilling and metal cutting. A very strange decision to start repair works at night time and I find it disrespectful. There were very few people in the hotel, so I believe management decided to neglect the comfort of the people. However, in my opinion, management could do something nice for (very few) people who stayed in the hotel that day, room upgrade, dinner or at least offer earplugs and show some respect. The next day we faced other issues with the bathroom and kitchen in the room, when we tried to cook something, the light went off, so if you are planning to cook during your stay I recommend you do it as quickly as possible. However, these issues were resolved quickly and we were grateful for this. During the checkout the receptionist just ignored our leave, and didn't even say "bye", just looked at us and went to her room, without saying the word or smile. I'm very often staying in the hotels, and never experienced that kind of service. Maybe it's fine for this hotel, but I had a bitter feeling, like I did something wrong, due to all this I decided to leave a negative review. Hope you will be treated better during your stay.
The view, location & the room was perfect for solo travelling.
I loved the room, the staff, the breakfast and the view. Basically everything ?
By the lake, good view.
Parking space was like tight
