Pros +
- This is a very good hotel with the best location. It has a beautiful view and you can view sunset and sunrise from your room. The breakfast is high quality. Overall we enjoyed the stay very much.
- Breakfast was delicious, the views were beautiful
- Charming and cozy stay! This hotel is adorable and full of character, with beautiful views and a super comfy bed. The breakfast was delicious, and the décor gives it a warm, inviting feel. Just note that access is a bit unique — you’ll need to take a train or air tram before they stop running for the evening, and most nearby restaurants close around 4 p.m., so plan ahead for meals. Check-in is self-service at an unstaffed front desk, so it helps to read up on the process beforehand. Overall, it’s a lovely and scenic spot, but keep in mind that it’s not your typical hotel experience — especially if you plan to explore Lucerne and need to coordinate transportation times.
Cons -
- Only saw staff on check in and check out. The dining room was not open for dinner (we were not told it would be closed) which we had been looking forward to.
- Check in is at 3 pm and nearby restaurants close at 4 pm
- staff completely absent, took time to know how to enter

Room 33 with jaw dropping views, deck, and hot tub. Amazing staff, and delicious breakfast. Such a magical spot to spend time in.
exceptional view

The staff was VERY helpful with travel ideas, explaining the coffee machine, in putting tables together for viewing, for figuring out our final bill.
The view from my room was amazing. The breakfast was exceptional but the coffee machine stole the show.
My fiancée and I stayed a single night at the Hotel- We expected to spend little time at the Hotel, but instead do some hiking in the areas. The weather was NOT in our favour, and we had next to zero visibility. The host kindly upgraded us to an amazing room, which really helped lift our spirits. We'll definitely be back, hopefully with fever clouds littering the sky
Be cautious of WHEN you go- as Hotel Bergsonne might not serve food at that time, and alternatives may be sparse.
The hotel is extremely clean and in very good conditions. Both common areas and the room are nicely decorated, something that is not always the case in Switzerland, with some hotels (also expensive ones) that offer just the bare minimum. The sight from the room was amazing, we could see the Alps all around. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the wooden floor instead of the usual carpet floor was a nice surprise, it makes the room feel a bit more like "home".The staff/owners are very nice and helpful, you can tell they care about their guests. This is probably why also the breakfast buffet and the 4-course dinner are delicious. Dinner can sound expensive (around 75chf per person), but it's absolutely worth it. One of the best dinner we had in Switzerland.
Nothing specific. For one night everything has been just fine.
The hotel is wonderful, situated at the top with an amazing view of the lake and mountains. The staff was very friendly, with plenty of humor and pleasant communication. They were also very welcoming to our child. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast with a view of the mountains and snowfall was truly impressive. We definitely plan to return and visit again. Highly recommended!
The view from the hotel terrace and rooms is amazing - great overlook of the mountains on the other side of the lake, especially at sunset. Close to the cogwheel train station, and not far from other places on Rigi. Lovely dinner experience - we were concerned about 4-course menu, but it was actually very balances in terms of food amount and timing, so it was a great. Comfy beds, decently sized room. Very welcoming and helpful staff.
There's no particularly significant downsides, rather some minor annoyances that didn't ruin anything for us. The breakfast - perhaps as a contrast to the dinner - was quite basic: some bread, some charcuterie, some granola and jams, and that's pretty much it (also some dry crumbly croissants). The room for two had only one chair. Terrace (both hotel and private room terrace) is a no-smoking area, which means one would need to go out to hotel entrance.
Amazing place with an amazing view. Staff was great and supper accommodating. Great mix of a hotel and mountain hut.
Wonderful views. Nice breakfast with view onto the lake.
We stayed during the week. The restaurant at the hotel was closed. We tried to book somewhere else, but everywhere else was also closed! It was mid-August, but restaurants all catered for day tourists and closed at 4pm! Only the one hotel by lift was open and only catered for their own hotel guests (and it wasn’t well rated anyway!) We ended up buying sausages before we got the cable car up and finding a bbq place, which was great as the weather was fantastic, but I did book hoping to go out for a birthday dinner. We had a standard room with an amazing lake view, but bathroom in our room was really tiny.
Stunning views, clean, rustic-modern aesthetic with traditional Swiss flourishes, great breakfast, and a friendly owner
They don’t serve dinner at the hotel (or at least not the night we stayed). There is a restaurant in town, but it was closed. The only other place serving food for dinner was the fancy hotel by the train station. It was more expensive and more of a fine dining experience than we were prepared for.
This was an excellent location for access to Rigi Kulm. Being at Rigi Kaltbad the hotel had excellent views over the Lake Lucerne and across to the Alps. The rooms were very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful - in particular the owner, Andre. The breakfasts are good, with plenty on offer.
The ensuite was very small. A cupboard for hanging and keeping clothes would have been useful. Also, we hadn't realised that the restaurant seems to be open only at the weekends - Friday/Saturday? - and there are few options for eating in the village. Finally, it's not so easy if you don't speak German,
Very friendly and professional staff. Recent renovations and equipment. Impeccably clean. This place is being loved and it reflects on the staff, and us guests.
The view from room 11 is amazing. The location is spectacular
Pricy
The stay was good, overall. The staff was helpful and great hosts. The breakfast was adequate and the dinner was lovely.
Our room became a bit hot/stuffy as there is no avenue for cross ventilation. A small fan in each room might be helpful.
Lovely location and views (weather permitting!)Comfortable bed, good breakfast
Very expensive, paid extra for a deluxe room but this upgrade offered no hint of what we expected. There was no one to welcome us at check-in, no hot drinks available or even water in our room. The room was basic with no tv, just one chair and poor storage facilities. I would not recommend staying here.
Horrible place
The most unfriendly place in the world. Had to wait 20min for the check in and were ignored throughout our stay. Very child-unfriendly. We were threatened to pay 100chf extra for our kids which slept in our bed. Horrible place to stay! Pascal is extremely unprofessional and was lying to us. After a day of long hiking when we came in the evening to the restaurant the guy told us that we didn't have a reservation and that there is no ice-cream for our kids available. He complained then about our crying kid that he is too loud and disturbing guests.
