Hotel Locanda has become my preferred place to stay as I frequently travel to Basel for work. Its a family run business with a personal touch and warm welcome. The rooms and facilities are very clean and well maintained. The hotel is next to Messe and tram stops, but located on a quiet street. There are many restaurants, street food options and coop supermarket, all within 5 minutes walk. Free bottled water for the guests. Also, the price is very reasonable for Basel.
Well positioned on a side street but next to shops, restaurants and tram stops. Very clean room, bed linen and towels are crisp clean although not new. Plenty of storage space, big desk and fridge, even a balcony. Michael the manager is very friendly and helpful.
The staff was quite friendly

Cons -

Nothing critical for me. But for some guests it may be - there is no tea or coffee machine in the room, and reception is not staffed in the evenings/nights.
The price point for what was offered was expensive
