Boutique City Hotel Gallo

Our original hotel was canceled on us at the last minute. We quickly searched for a new hotel in St. Gallen and came across Hotel Gallo. The owner was very welcoming, kind, and helpful! We enjoyed talking with him over breakfast. Location is approx 7 min bus ride from St. Gallen HBF. Breakfast was fairly priced. Thank you again!

My wife was in the nearby hospital after a bicycle accident and the hotel manager was so helpful & friendly and provided a great room with option to extend for as long as needed.

Great location for our purposes. Lovely breakfast and large, quiet room at the back of the hotel.

The proprietor was very helpful and very personable!I was pleasantly surprised to find wash cloths - a luxury in European hotels in my experience.Private parking.Close distance to attractions (walking).Large room.Excellent shower.Good supply of hooks in the bathroom for hanging things.Breakfast was complete and good if not exceptional.Calm inside the hotel.

Not enough electrical outlets in the room.Some hot egg and hot meat options for the morning breakfast would have been a nice touch. The breakfast was definitely complete and good, but not exceptional. I would have liked a greater assortment of pillows. Mine was much softer/thinner than I prefer and I've been in hotels where there was more choice or perhaps extra ones to boost one's neck, etc.Street traffic noise was a bit much even with all the windows shut and curtains drawn. We were in the 2nd floor of rooms (not counting the ground floor). I believe there might have been rooms not overlooking the street - not sure.

This is a very lovely hotel, close enough to the centre to be convenient but far enough away to be quiet. The hotel manager couldn't be more helpful. The rooms are large , ours had a balcony and large modern shower. Breakfast was very good. Faultless

Maybe a bar area , there is a lovely area next to reception could easily have sat there with a glass of wine before dinner

The desk clerk was very kind.

I understand what people say about the dirt corners. It didn't bother us so much because it was only one night, but I would suggest a deep cleaning of the rooms

This hotel was a great stopover spot for our family while travelling in Switzerland. It was warm and clean, the manager was delightfully friendly, obligingly helpful and fun to chat with. Highly recommend.

Very friendly staff and let us check-in hours earlier than anticipated. The view and the location are great, also the room itself. Breakfast was ok and tasty.

Instead of a double bed there were 2 single beds without anything that held them together. Also, the faucet in the bathroom needed fixing and although clean, a bit of fixing would have been great. The minibar (mini-fridge) didn't work but for a 1-night-stay it didn't bother us. (Room 401)

everything was nice!

1. Location excellent within walking distance of city centre and central train station. 2. Christian was an excellent host welcoming guests and accommodating our every need. I arrived early but Christian took my bags to my room and offered me coffee and croissant while I waited for the room to be ready. Felt so welcome and at home there.3. Comfortable bed. Large shower. I requested a quiet room and was given a beautiful room at the back of the hotel. 4. Breakfast was simple but yet had everything I needed to start the day.

For a solo traveller it is expensive for time of year. However, relative to prices in Switzerland probably good.

The Hotel is very well managed. In walkable distance to the city centre and Kantonsspital. The staff is exceptionally nice and helpful. As I was on an emergency visit at the Hospital and had to leave earlier than expected they've without hesitation reimbursed me for the nights I couldn't stay. If I had to go to St. Gallen again this would be the place I'd stay.

The staff were really really nice and so friendly and welcoming with my young daughter. Everything in the room was new and clean.

No air conditioning during a heat wave! There was only a fan. The hotel is on a pretty noisy street even at night, so we didn’t really want to leave the windows open.

From my arrived’s moment, the welcome, kindness, attention, delicacy, cleanliness, comfort, the place is something that you couldn’t have any complaints about; my room was a studio style, I was impressed by the extremely large balcony, with a view of the front and the back of the property... the bathroom was spacious and extremely comfortable, as was the kitchen and the bedroom for sleeping and resting like at home.

The German gentleman at the reception was very helpful & kind from the moment we arrived. He provided a lot of help and tips for us that helped us in having a great time in the city.

A tea kettle in the room would be a valuable addition

Rom was excellent! So cozy and clean with a quite big bathroom. In the corridor you can make a cup of tea or creamy coffee for free. The staff was so polite and attentive to us.

Breakfast was a bit expensive (17 CHF). You can make a light breakfast only with sandwiches, yoghurt, fruits and cookies.
