    Pros +

    • Great location in medina.International rooftop restaurant was really a find; every meal we ate turned out to be great.Rooms were generously sized, well decorated, and kept immaculate. Staff was unfailingly helpful. Recommended car rental service wasn't cheap but seemlessly arranged rental drop off and pick up for us.
    • Everything!!!! This hotel is a jewel. Located in an old beautiful Tunisian home, one of the most tastefully decorated properties I have ever stayed at, amazing suites and great location literally in the Medina but on a quiet street. Superb.
    • Staying here for a week was a dream. The suite was spacious and enjoyed the feel of luxury as soon as stepped into the property. Everyone working there was very kind and helped with any requests.

    Cons -

    • Hotel competent concierge staff -- both by mail and in person, staff were helpful but poorly informed and awkward in arranging any but routine affairs. (e.g., whether reservations were needed at their own restaurants)Weak front desk skills in English. I had wanted to leave a cash tip to be shared by the staff but at no time when I asked (3x) was a manager available
    • Only gripe is that they did not hava availability for the spa/hamman even though we stayed 2 nights.
    • The food served for breakfast seems to have no heated platters so hot dishes get lukewarm warm or at room temperature.

Everything in this hotel surpassed all expectations. The staff were amazing and incredibly helpful. The spa was amazing, and the rooftop restaurant was amazing.

This is a beautiful, luxury hotel just inside the medina in Tunis. Our room was so spacious and comfortable. We loved the fresh fruit delivered every night, and the view from breakfast on the rooftop. We would take a dip in the small but beautifully designed rooftop pool every afternoon after exploring the city. It’s expensive for the area, but the rooms are worth it.

The food on site was very very expensive. This is fine — it’s a luxury hotel. But we chose to eat meals other than breakfast elsewhere nearby.

In the Old Quarter . Just a few steps away from the covered bazaar..a small but extremely lively local market. The best part of the stay is the rooftop bar and restaurant with beautiful sunsets and good mix of travelers and local alike. The management was quick to respond to a few miscommunications due to my poor grasp of French but was extremely responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend and would enjoy a future stay as well

The spa would not be up to the level of the hotel other facilities but can improve with time and experience

Very spacious room with great amenities. Terrace restaurant and swimming pool were wonderful. Spa was relaxing. Good taxi service without the need to haggle with the driver. Very modern interior.

Fantastic stay in the old part of the city. Beautiful and comfortable rooms in a historical building. Very good breakfast and amazing views from the terrace. The linked restaurant was a great both for food and for the setting. Parking at 5 mins walk.

Lovely staff, amenities, architecture, huge rooms, great breakfast. Hammam was not that great, massage very short

Best place to stay in Tunis is the Medina and Dar El Jeld is the best place to stay in the Medina. Love the four fine chocolates in the room. Better than mint on a pillow.

    everything great.

    Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff

Location is a little tricky near government complex so driving and parking can be a challenge

Exquisite and spacious rooms and common areas. Everything was thought out and every piece of furniture and fixture was beautiful and perfectly maintained. Location just adjacent to the Medina was also perfect for us. We stayed out in Sidi Bou Said for two days at the end of the trip after a few days in Sousse which was also great but we loved being downtown for the first few days. The rooftop dining also nice.

We had some travel wrinkles coming in (bags didn’t make it) and got some unhelpful advice about dealing with it from the desk staff. Specifically we were directed to a mall at 6 pm a half hour out of town and of course it was closed for dinnertime because Ramadan. (We were also gouged by the taxi driver called by the hotel who clearly knew it would be closed.) All we needed to do was wait until 8 and buy emergency clothes in the Medina. Also we wasted time waiting for the airport staff to call to confirm the bags had come in instead of going back to the airport with an Arabic speaker and getting in peoples grills until they coughed up the bags that were sitting in the storage room (despite what airport staff and Air France staff in Tunis and Paris were telling us). Shame on us but we can’t be the first guests to have had their bags miss a connection so was surprised by the ineptitude from such an otherwise ideal property. Also food on the rooftop and at breakfast was a little inconsistent.

Very happy with our stay here. The location is great - right on the edge of the Medina, so both easy to access the Medina and easy to leave the Medina. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good, and the rooftop view was very nice. The building itself was beautiful, especially some of the rooms on the way to the elevator. We also enjoyed the restaurant, which was on the expensive side but offered a good menu and atmosphere. Everyone on staff was very kind and helpful.

The only trivial thing was the restaurant played the same music over and over from two playlists and it was quite loud in the afternoon/evening until 10. Everything else was gerat.

It’s a superb experience with this boutique spa hotel. The property is elegant and nostalgic. The whole building is designed with details and service was attentive. It’s on the edge of the medina. We had the immersive feeling of staying back in the days while not being disturbed by the touristic business in the narrow alleyways inside the medina.

One with mobility difficulties might need to consider. We had to walk a few hundreds meters outside the medina for taxi pickup and drop off. But that’s not an issue for us.

Suite big and relaxing. Services at top. Restaurant the best in town

    10KarmenPosted on: 2-2-2025

This property is stunning, the rooms are so large and the staff are friendly

It’s located in the old Medina - is about creepy to walk through at night (if you want to head to downtown Tunis) for dinner, all the stores are closed and the streets are very dark and quiet
