Gateway Coonoor (A Taj InnerCircle Hotel)

Beautiful heritage property, well kept with all modern amenities without sacrificing its heritage design and character. Extremely polite and attentive associates who are willing to stretch to delight. Well appointed large rooms with small living/guest area, big bed room, small dressing area and a clean bathroom.The land on which the property is situated is really beautiful, well keep and manicured lawns and a riot of colours with a multitude of flowering plants, trees and shrubs. A whole bunch of monkeys were running around and property and they had some squirrels and a lot of birds for company.Good restaurant and tasty food for the most part. Decent breakfast spread with a mix of traditional South Indian and British fare.

Heritage property with old Raj type furniture. Understand it was earlier used by Christian Priests and is 170 plus year old structure. Location is great and staff warm. Food particularly the Indian Railway mutton was good. Though weather stopped us from taking the morning walk arranged by the hotel, thought it was a good idea to organise that,

Facilities are good for a heritage property but not in sync with modern hotels. Complimentary drinks or some such thing is missing.

The staff was very good.Very cooperative. The Chief Chef is also very friendly and supportive.

Excellent property from Taj in Coonor. An old mansion expanded and upgraded to luxury hotel. We stayed in Deluxe room and was spacious to accomodate a family of 4. The buffet breakfast which was complimentary had wide spread of items. Property is strategically located and away from traffic and noise. The staff from front office, through restaurant to housekeeping always welcome you with a smile are were really welcoming and available at service. Worth mentioning the help and guidance extended by Management trainee Subhakesh. He was very cordial, guided and even walked us to some nearby attractions outside property. He explained the history of mansion and helped us plan our itinerary during our stay at the property.

Though the rooms were spacious with all amenities the bathroom had some issues. The drainage was partially clogged leading to water lodging inside bathroom. Also power disruption happened couple of times during stay and backup did not kick in instantaneously. Be prepared to stay in darkness for a while. Restaurant charges seemed to be not value for money as the rates felt highly overpriced.

Location was amazing… green and secluded. The staff was amazing. Friendly and welcoming. Always with a smile and ready to help. This is a must do again experience.

Staff is just amazing. They went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. They were so fast in servicing and providing you best service. The piano guy in restaurant was just amazing. we just loved our stay.

The lawn, the bonfire, the walk at night during misty night (we stayed for 2 nights and it rained both nights - amazing experience). The staff is very polite and helpful. They have a small activity room with a pool table, carrom and a TT table which is OK. My kid was very excited, playing with the ducks and swings. Food was good in quality and taste. Of course not as lavish as a 5 star.

I stayed in hotel Gateway Coonoor, Tamil Nadu accompanying my elderly parents from 12-14 April 2024. I am happy with staying in this heritage hotel and really felt privileged to be a part of the history. As the campus started in the year 1857 and after several changes of ownerships Taj group owned the property in 1990.I liked the hotel because the Taj group maintained the sprawling old campus splendidly keeping the heritage and historical background keeping old trees, nurturing shrubs and grasses flanked with gardens with blossomed flowers of various hues. Apart from it the view of the surrounding hills from the hotel is splendid and celestial.Interestingly the Guest room allotted to me was in a typical colonial type bangalow which was built in 1929 . I liked the Room as it has a entrance hall with wall to wall French glass windows and rich furnishing. Main bedroom was very spacious separated from the hall by a French glass door. Elegantly furnished with white marble topped furniture. The room decoration was simple but very elegant. Wash room was large and richly finished.Food was good and tasty. Complementary buffet breakfast was good with large no of spread of food items. Staffs were cordial. However Hotel Service requires little bit attention of the management.

The Best Taj we've stayed at!! We experienced the Real Taj Hospitality.. Everything and everyone was absolutely fantastic! We travelled with our pet for whom the hotel provided a bed , pillow ,duvet and a bowl..Thankyou.. It was very heart warming to see a true pet friendly place . We also travelled with our parents who were very comfortable and loved the evening Bonfire. The food , Restaurant decor and service was excellent and had a personal touch. We forgot something in the room which was found by housekeeping during cleaning. The hotel mailed it to our home address and didn't let me pay for the courier charges even after insisting on paying.. Thank you for making our trip so memorable and comfortable.We will definitely visit again!

We got a free upgrade. The room 303 is so spacious, the bathroom alone is like a bedroom. Free use of pool and table tennis, a nice library, and some carrom and chess make good recreational opportunity. An excellent cafeteria and restaurant is within walking distance from the property. Staff are nice and friendly.

The gym can be better. There's only one restaurant, an additional bar or Bistro could be added. No buffet dinner or lunch was available

Excellent breakfast.

May be few more toiletries need to be added like mouthwash, deo stick for those guests staying consecutively for three nights and longer.

Everything. I loved everything about this place. The people, food, location. Everything was perfect. The best part is they are truly pet-friendly and which is why I will recommend them to everyone.

Nothing that I did not like. I wish it was little more budget-friendly. But it’s still great!

Great location and property. Nice rooms, good tea, good breakfast.

TV connection had issues despite constant intervention. Walls are thin, we could hear our neighbors quite clearly. Some snootiness by the hotel since we were traveling extensively by auto for local commute because we had older people with us and kids who loved their auto rides and they stopped us at the gate once upon the "GMs" orders.

Customer service and food; beautiful property, absolutely serene and refreshing!

Breakfast was mediocre , bakery didn't feel fresh

The staff is excellent and really helpful and polite ... they took care of the smallest ask with a smile. The restaurant and breakfast was excellent too.

The room could be better maintained - we noticed cracks in the ceiling and the walls.We had a problem with excessive smoking right outside our non-smoking room - this feedback was provided to the hotel as well

small room for the money they charge when compared to other Taj hotels . The staff need to warn guests not to park car in the front area . after a rain , my car was full of dust from the tree in front .
