Pros +
- Location, staff, and parking
- My partner and I were travelling to see friends further South and really liked the location of this (slightly quirky) hotel. We booked and stayed on a Sunday evening on the way down. Sadly by the time we arrived most of the local businesses were closed but the receptionist kindly booked us a table for supper in the most superb restaurant, a short walk away, in the town by the name of Chez Paulo. Our room (on the first floor) of the hotel had a large shower and modern amenities with a comfortable bed and excellent air-conditioning/ heating.Parking was available free of charge and adjacent to the hotel.
- Friendly staff, good recommendations for restaurants. Comfortable bed, free on site parking.
Cons -
- No elevator, small room!!
- Having enjoyed a good experience on our initial visit we re-booked for the Friday evening on our journey back. We were aware that Saturday was market day in the town and we were anxious to return to Chez Paulo. Our experience could not have been more different. We were given a room on the second floor despite very few other guests on site with a tiny bathroom which had an over-bath shower which didn't have sufficient head height to allow proper showering. The room was cold and the air-condtioning/heating inadequate. Clearly the owners were aware of the problem as a fan heater had been left in the bathroom to supplement the heating but I suspect the problem arose from being in the eaves of the building and without sufficient insulation. The bedside light didn't work and clearly the receptionist was aware of this but was unable to help. Why oh why were we allocated this dreadful room in January? On departure we filled in the customer survey and left an e mail address in order that someone could contact us if they wished. They did not!
- Black paint on corridor walls looked sleazy and weird.

Friendly staff, good recommendations for restaurants. Comfortable bed, free on site parking.
Black paint on corridor walls looked sleazy and weird.
Fusion of traditional building, location and modern interior. Parking on-site was very welcome.Staff, friendly and supportive. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
Not Applicable.
Lovely spot, gracefully aging rooms. Smart reception with good English skills. Good location in a lovely town.
Doesn’t live up to its facade - but that’s a small complaint.
Not the first time we've stayed at La Reserve, and it will not be the last! In the middle of the lovely, historic, market town of Brive-la-Gaillard the hotel offers the best of a simple, value for money stopover or for longer days to explore the beautiful Correze. The lack of a restaurant is simply not a problem as there is a wide choice all around within easy walking distance. The welcome is warm and charming, the rooms perfectly prepared as is the bathroom, with loads of hot water. Our bed very comfortable and the breakfast well above average with cereals, breads, pastries, fresh boiled eggs, charcouterie ,etc If your looking for a great evening meal experience, walk round the corner to Le Comptoire St Sernin. If only all Brasseries were like this! A teriffic atmosphere in a baronial hall with bustling, well trained staff and a kitchen that really knows what it's doing. We revisit Brive just for this experience!
Pretty traditional old looking building The room deco was quite modern. I liked the difference.
They could do so much with this place. But location and parking was excellent
A bit shabby. Needs a refit.
Very good location, and parking.
Clean, well maintained.
Comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Car parking space adjacent but not a closed garage.
The trouble was that I arrived on a summer Sunday afternoon and Brive was shut! The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant so I walked around the town. Only two restaurants were open. Fortunately I booked one because when I went back for dinner they were turning people away. When I got back to the hotel at 9 pmI thought I would have a brandy. But I was locked out having not taken out with my my PIN code for getting back in. When I did get in the bar was shut. But this should not detract from the hotel which was comfortable with a good breakfast. I would go again.
Perfect location in centre twin family room with air con. Parking perfect. PS on Sundays only Au Bureau restaurant open. We didn’t take breakfast so can’t comment
Toilet room small bumped brow on electric switch beware
It was central to the town and walking distance to the railway station. Small hotel in an old renovated building. They have a bar and sell gelato style ice cream
Please note outdoor seating area at the front of the hotel faces a Carpark and on the corner of roads. But traffic not that busy.
Beautiful hotel, lovely areas and nice to sit outside at the bar for a drink. Staff were so friendly and helpful.
Easy to drive to when travelling north. Perfect location to walk into the medieval city Great idea to offer us a refillable bottle of water on arrival. Beds comfy and tasty self service breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again v
Hotel car park small, but we’re able to park in the adjoining car park
Close to centre carpark
Bathroom a bit smelly
Overall extremely good, ideally placed at the southern edge of the historic old town, 2 minutes walk away.
Free hotel parking very limited,.about 6 places, located at the side of a pay carpark, perhaps another 30 spaces.
Great location close to the old city centre, very comfortable, modern room
in general, the staff, the hotel, the location and the breakfast (was very tasty), there are no complaints about this
Here's the situation: our car was parked in the hotel parking lot, which is right next to it. During the night, the car window was broken and our belongings were stolen. We informed the administrator, who, to our surprise, could not help us at all (we were not offered a ride to the police station, we could not get into our car because it was covered in broken glass, we were not offered a service where they could fix it for us. The administrator shrugged his shoulders and said that this has never happened and that's all) Considering the situation we needed an extra day to replace the glass, the administration did not offer any discounts, we paid the full price ourselves for the extra day of our stay (thanks for the free breakfast anyway). Given that the hotel should be responsible for parking (at least partially), we expected more initiative from the hotel. I recommend looking for a closed parking lot.be aware that some of the staff do not speak English. communication between staff is very poor as the new receptionist did not know anything about our situation and had to call the administrator and ask what to do
Lovely family run property. Very friendly, great restaurant recommendations, extremely comfortable beds.
Hotel in close to the city center. At walking distance from restaurants and cafés. It has free parking places. Breakfast is good and the staff was super helpful. Recommended
