Pros +
- The room was lovely and clean despite going through a major refurbishment. Breakfast was delivered to your room whilst this was going on. Staff lovely and helpful. Stayed here several times and it's location is very central and ideal for cafes, shopping etc. Secure underground carpark.
- Good location for a stop between London and Perpignan
- Secure parking
Cons -
- The booking said the hotel had free parking, but it was paid parking. It seems the booking filter doesn't work correctly, or the hotel description is wrong.
- Nothing not to like.
- We have been using this hotel on many occasions. It is meant to have secure parking in the basement. Several times the entrance doors have not worked leaving the hidden parking not only unprotected but also an opportunity for thieves. The repeated excuses for why this problem has not been solved are ridiculous. The hotel insists that it will not cover any theft leaves one with no alternative but to completely unpack and repack the car to avoid any loss. This negates the prime reason for staying here.

Secure parking
Being a city centre location it was noisy on a Saturday night, the building was generally very tired looking and the carpets in the corridors stunk of cigarette smoke. No provision for electric car charging which is good at other Ibis hotels in this price range.
Central lication.Charming ambience
No dining facilities for tired travellers
Location and helpfulness of staff
The toilet didn’t work properly and clearly it had happened before.
Not a lot, although the breakfast was OK, as was the lady who was over seeing it.
What Can I Say, Almost Everything! The car park was THREE LEVELS underground, very dark and murky, with a barrier that took a bit of working out, as did the lift that took us to up about 5 floors to the front door of the hotel. We eventually found the reception desk and booked in. In the room there was no tea making facilities. Went to reception only to find that the coffee machine there was out of action! Also, the the restaurant was not open, so we had to go out and find a restaurant, but couldn't find one open in the area so ended up with a burger! The only good part of the evening was The Town Band in a little square round the corner! Nothing like the Ibis in Bourges!
Very helpful staff. Comfortable bedroom. Very good air-conditioning. Excellent location- near the train and bus stations, bars and restaurants.
I was very satisfied with everything.
Comfy and clean
Bit out of the way. The staff at reception provided advice on restaurants. I went to the area mentioned and all were closed. I went to the main square and found some that were open.
The property was quite central and easy to get to shops, restaurants etc.
The entrance was awful and looked scruffy as you enter from the street it is very unwelcoming. As you enter through the single door you are faced with a large flight of stairs, there is a broken escalator at the side which was not working and seemed as if it had been broken for quite some time. I had a different impression of Inis and to be honest I was very shocked.
Breakfast is excellent
The elevator is noisy and keeps announcing each floor, in a loud voice...
Well positioned and exellent secure car parking
...... at leasr 5 of our party have had severe D&V upon return from France...... This may not of course have anything to so with the hotel, but worth mentionin gin case anyone else reports this issue.
Clean, the bed was comfortable, location great for local restaurants, a great location for breaking a journey
Situation. Comfortable room.
Couldn’t park as there was a market that blocked the entrance to the underground parking. Had to wait until after 7.30pm. Hotel Entrance is not the greatest and one escalator not working.
It was clean.
Entry during the evening was via buzzer system at Street level. We were left ringing the buzzer for about 15 minutes before the receptionist, who also seemed to be doubling as housekeeper, finally answered and let us in. We were concerned that the receptionist had left and that we might be stranded outside. Not a great system.
My room was the biggest Ibis room I’ve ever stayed in and it also had a “lobby” as you walk in. I chose this Ibis as I was driving down through France on my own and Châteauroux was about 2/3 of the way through my journey, so an ideal place for my overnight stay.
I was travelling alone, in my Right Hand Drive English car, and it was a complete farce trying to access the -2 and -3 Ibis parking areas safely. Fortunately as I approached the main entrance from the street there was a pedestrian close by who was able to press the entry button for me……. Then the farce started down on -2. Being in a RHD car meant I had to get out and walk round it to the press-button for the barrier. By the time I had got back in the car and driven round to the barrier it had come down again. I left the car in front of the barrier and walked back to the press-button but again the barrier had come down before I could pass. Ridiculous and totally unsafe! I managed to speak to the Receptionist who didn’t understand my problem as he hadn’t realised I’d got a RHD car even though I had told him. I speak enough French to have made that clear. Eventually he told me to go down to -3 which I did. I registered and took my luggage up to my room and then he came down to -3 with me as I needed to show him the same potential problem with getting out the next morning. I could not access the press-button from inside my car and the barrier wouldn’t stay up long enough for me to get through it. In the end he allowed me to go up to -1 and park in a designated space there and showed me where & how to drive out over the sensor pads, which I managed to do safely when I left the next morning. Whoever designed the press-button / barrier system did not make any allowance for a single (in my case widowed) person driving a RHD car alone. Surely I can’t be the first person to have stayed there who had this problem. WHY CAN’T THE PRESS-BUTTON BE RIGHT BESIDE THE BARRIER?????
Breakfast okay bed was comfy
Bedroom curtains hanging off no curtain hooks on The main stairs from the Main Street was filthy and smelt of old cigarettes The equipment for breakfast old especially the fresh orange machine very slow
well placed in the city and that room was fine! nice comfy room and very clean!they also provide meals any time you want!
you can’t enter the building any time you want - you have to ring a bell and be let in. when I first tried to enter I rang four times without effect, then had to call front desk to be let in. after that getting in was easier though ?the parking lot smells tremendously of urin. also: it’s not super clear where to enter the pin to open the barrier for the designated parking space.
Easy of access
Not very clean, quite old rooms
Very Central location. Car parking. Comfy bed
Hand towels would have been nice. Guy on reception not helpful or clear. Sent us to the wrong floor. There is allegedly a bar but we couldnt find it! Breakfast is very average
