Pros +

  • This was cleanest room we have experienced so far in Sri Lanka. The owner and his son were wonderful, only too happy to help us. The room had a great balcony with furniture, good aircon, and was upstairs overlooking the road and well kept garden. Breakfast was an omelette, toast and jam, fruit, and tea and coffee. There is a shop selling water & snacks 2 minutes walk away. The accomodation doesnt provide water or tea & coffee making facilities but we made that as a suggestion to them, so they may implement that? The beds were hard, so we also suggested they implement the use of mattress toppers? The owner is very open to suggestions on how to improve the property, and has plans to include a communal kitchen and laundry. There is a small beach only 5-10 mins walk down a shady track. The beach/cove is clean but the water is a little rough (as are all along the coast), but the swimming area is marked out for safety & the restaurant/bar staff keep an eye on where people are swimming and move people if they venture into less safe areas. If you have kids, you will need to watch them carefully. There are a number of cafes and restaurants along the beach which provide beach lounges. The beach sea breeze is cool & the water warm. For a budget friendly option, we would highly recommend this property.
  • The room was very clean, cosy with beautiful balcony and view. Close to the beach, a bit far away from city center but there are buses all the time so its not a problem. You can see that the place is new because its very clean there. Breakfast was nice - fruits, toast jam, tea, omelette. My friend is vegan and after our request we got some extra food for breakfast. Owner was very helpful and kind. Thank you so much
  • 9th April 2024 14.23 Inc breakfast & taxes Bit of confusion on the directions from Booking.com because it took us past the accommodation. Anyhow, Richie Ranga met us on arrival, welcoming us with juice and a smile. Located on the opposite side of the road to the beach, the gardens to the front of the property are really pleasant, although you can hear the traffic because it is a busy road. It was not a problem at night at all. The room has a double bed and air-conditioning which works but theres no fridge. This seems typical of most Sri Lankan properties that weve stayed in, I like a fridge to keep the water cold, but its not a dealbreaker. We sat out on the terrace and enjoyed the breeze and the view of the garden, as well as the company of the resident water monitor lizard. We explored 5 beaches from here, a lovely introduction to Southern Sri Lanka. There are no tea and coffee facilities here, so you need to make sure you are self sufficient regarding your food and drinks. Richie did offer to buy some things for us on his trip to Tangalle one evening, we enjoyed the samosas he bought us. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay here and would recommend this Homestay.

Cons -

  • Bed mattress but we have suggested they put on mattress toppers. The beds may not be a problem younger people.
  • Nothing to be fair
