Better cleaner rooms and toilets are recommended

Location. Right at the edge of the lake. Shady and well maintained garden. Nice swimming pool. Freindly staff. Decent wifi. Enough parking space for guests' vehicles.

Food was not great. Except for the dinner on the date of arrival, rest of the meals served were below the average expectations from a hotel with this categprization.

The location and view at Hotel Sudu Araliya are truly fabulous. It’s very calm and relaxing, making it a perfect spot if you’re looking for peace and a nice atmosphere to enjoy your stay.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness and service need serious attention. When we checked in, the room table and chairs still had food left on them, and the bathroom should be updated and maintained better. The staff also didn’t seem very friendly, which affected the overall experience.

It is really peaceful and they have a really nice backyard where you can see the lake and some birds and animals.Room is pretty standard but it has the necessities. Had a peaceful stay!

We stayed at Sudu Araliya Hotel in Polonnaruwa on the 14th and 15th of this month, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The hotel has a beautiful view, and the overall stay was very pleasant. The food was delicious, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.A special thank you to the receptionist, Hansika, who arranged a room with a lovely view for us — we really appreciated it! We would also like to thank Maneesha, Hasitha, and Danuka from the restaurant team. They were very helpful and did a great job assisting with the cake decoration, making our celebration even more special.Thank you all for your warm hospitality!

Nothing. But have to clean the balcony

Fantastic location. Spacious and clean rooms. They offered us a very good grilled fish dinner and a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. Restaurant manager and staff were friendly and very professional. Highly worth for the price.

The hotel needs refurbishment. The toilets needs to be redone completely. The rooms are very spacious. Although, there is a lovely view of the lake a veranda would have been brilliant. A good architect would have helped.

The location was good and we enjoyed the pool. The rooms we got at first were bad but then we exchanged the rooms so the rooms were ok. The scenery was good and loved that tree house.

First of all the rooms we got at first did not smell good so we had to exchange our rooms. Also we asked for one double bed and one single bed but what we got was three single beds. About food there weren't enough varieties. And the live kitchen was not really good. And for the breakfast there weren't any cereal. At night we thought about playing some pool as we always do when we are on vacation. Then they asked us to pay extra to use the pool table. Normally at hotels they don't really ask us to play for simple facilities like that right? Here's the thing booking.com made our expecations high.

Only location…

The room I booked supposed to have balcony (see the picture), that’s the reason I booked that hotel, also two weeks before arrival I clearly mentioned to the hotel that I need two separate beds in the room. After arriving and seeing the room: no balcony, beds are still not ready (arranged as one queen bed) and huge fungus on the chair. I reported the problems directly and the reception staff wasn’t collaborative. They told me there is no rooms with balcony and to show them messages from booking. I never experienced such a poor hospitality and cheating the booking!

Beautiful property, with gorgeous main areas and a pool and view to die for. Food was good. Staff were great.

The rooms themselves were basic and didn’t match the beauty of the rest of the resort.

The stay was wonderful, with a peaceful environment near the lake, a well-maintained pool, delicious dinner and breakfast, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. The location is ideal for a relaxing getaway

The room was comfortable but had some issues, including a small bathroom with water leakage, a poorly cleaned toilet, a broken balcony door, a faulty key, and only one chair on the balcony. The room also had some insects and the garden lighting was not working at night, making it uncomfortable. The room has great potential but needs improvements to enhance the outdoor experience.

Location good, beautiful surronding near Parakrama samudra famous large Tank, and easy to access ruin city just 2-3Km. Room quite big, Breakfast was buffet and very good

There were some power issue plug points not working and inside some lights not working. However over all good as we can manage with other lights

Nice big green spaces with wonderful views of the lake and a nice big pool. Unsurprisingly, staff were thoroughly nice and helpful.

Rooms are a bit dated but at that price it’s fair. It’s also a big hotel so expect large tour groups.

The garden behind the hotel is sublime. Our room had a lovely view of the lake. The folks at the front desk were helpful on occasion. They allowed us to use a back office once for an important call (see internet below), made arrangements to courrier a forgotten key back to the prior hotel, and booked a safari.

There is no internet in the rooms. We were working during our travels and needed to take calls and be on our computers and phones in the common area and restaurant which were noisy with a lot of guests talking and milling about. This is a major detraction for us as we could not work in and enjoy the room. Also, internet is meted out with a code for 2 days for 4 devices. We had to request and enter additional codes throughout our stay.

Main foyer and dining area looked very nice

Main toilets in foyer looked like they had never been cleaned. No WIFI as soon as you leave the foyerBathrooms in rooms outdated. Beautiful bar set up but nobody serving in it. Attitude seemed to be that they were more happy that you paid and turned up than looking after you. Not even an exit thank you when you left.
