    Pros +

    • Friendly staff, great restaurant, lovely room.
    • Location and attitude of staff
    • I somehow had booked for the night after the day our intended arrival. Though she was not expecting us, the manager, Mihi, quicly made some adjustments and welcomed my son and I in. Needless to say, my error was quickly, and unhestitaingly, managed by Mihi, and in we went. The Left Bank is a beautifully renovated very old building and the interior is absolutely beautiful. It was like being in a Victorian age bedroom with period furnishings! What a wonderful experience. Our car was locked inside a secure area which Mihi directed us to and again opened in the morning to recover our car. Could not have been more pleased with the stay, it was perfect!

    Cons -

    • The room could have used a table (there's plenty of room). We had to the tea and coffee off its table onto the floor so that we could play a game of cards.
    • Breakfast could have been provided as limited cafe options in Kalkohe
    • Not a thing, delightful.

Outstanding service and support. Delightfully refurbished hotel. Recommend highly, especially if you are planning to cycle the twin trail. The place is well set up for cyclists. Bikes have a secure shed and cars can be parked in lock up area. Manager is exceptionally helpful and happily accommodated all our requests.

Had charm, nicely renovated and had large rooms. Host was very friendly

Would have been great if there had been an in house breakfast option you could have added to your stay.

This is the only place to stay In Kaikohe!! This is our 3rd stay at the Left Bank, we are keen cyclists and love the twin coast cycle ride and taking friends and family and we are always made to feel so welcome and looked after by the wonderful manager who consistently goes above and beyond for all guests! Beautiful rooms but it is the great service that adds so much to the Left Bank experience!

Nothing negative to say about this wonderful accommodation!

The rooms were beautiful, very clean and large.

Road Noise - Cara racing up and down the street all night kept us awake.

Left bank was a beautifully restored commercial building, it had been finished to a high standard and with high ceilings and some fabulous woodwork trim. The bed was comfortable the shower had plenty of pressure. There was secure parking available The host was amazing, really welcoming and nothing was a problem.

    Have no complaints at all.

Mihi is an awesome host, goes out of her way to help you, with parking when you arrive early to do the cycle trail, sends you in the right direction. Rooms are beautiful . I highly recommend staying here. And the shower pressure ?

    Nothing to dislike

It’s very clean and tiny, location is really good

Lacking of charging outlets for phones on the side of the bed. A bit noisy

    7HelenPosted on: 1-8-2025

Super comfy rooms and Mihi was great offering us her garden to use for the evening.

Bathrooms needed some shelves for toiletries

The rooms are exquisite and the tie between old and new is amazing! Bed is comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The owner was so incredibly helpful and accommodating to my partner and I and it made our New Year’s night so amazing.

Really nice period refurbishment inside. Comfortable bed and bathroom.

Not the best town to spend any time in but a good base to explore the region. The room walls are very thin. Normal conversation travels through them.

    9KatherinePosted on: 1-2-2025

Beautiful old building, well restored. Quiet little town within an easy drive to a number of attractions.
