Motel Marengo

Poorly maintained, bathroom a heath hazard. Completely unacceptable in 2025. Bed linen looked slept in and dirty - almost walked out. Towels were small, thin, and dirty looking. Woodwork, doors badly needed re-painting. My photos will back this up!

The owners where really friendly and accommodating

Staff were great, we had very loud drunk neigbours all night swearing and singing karaoke. Staff managed to relocate us the 2nd night to an upgraded suite in apollo bay

Bed super uncomfortable, stains in cover sheet and only one pillow each and low profile. Not worth it the price charged and be aware they’ll add a surcharge to your booking and payment is not processed through booking.com, never seen this before and it looks dodgy

A very clean, well maintained room, with a new shower/bathroom. Staff are always friendly.

The location was great because it was near the beach and an easy walk into Apollo Bay.

The rooms were old and tiny for 4 people especially the bathroom. The pillows were hard as rock and over all the facilities were old and need up dating. Also it was really expensive. I can appreciate a budget stay but not for that price. We did not see any staff members at all the key was left under the mat and the reception was unattended the whole of our stay.

Location is good.

Pool was filthy. We couldn’t swim in it due to the green colour of the water. Bedroom window did not lock. Plumbing very noisy at night. Beds uncomfortable.

Loved the pool and warm spa. Also made use of the barbeque three times! The rooms are basic, but clean, comfortable and airconditioned.

Just missing chairs and a little table on the veranda but we borrowed from them once, then after used our indoor ones as we like to sit outside for fresh air sometimes. The Barbeque are, however did have a comfy lounge.

Provided a good sized room on the Great Ocean Road.

The pool is nothing like the photo, was not clean and it was very uninviting.

The size of rooms & plenty of parking & amenities.

My own fault I was disappointed that I hadn't looked closely to where this motel was situated.

The pillows were terrible, the towels were very small. The bathroom door was very noisy. All thing that can be easily fixed.

The facilities including pool and bbq area were fantastic!

Walks into Apollo Bay along the coast. Good exercise.Traveling by Motorbike we decided to walk instead of ride

Not that we didn't like the compendium, however some of the literature (Events dated 2015) were extremely old and therefore made my wonder how up to date the rest of the information was.

The room was clean and the shower water pressure was AMAZING!!!! The owner was very accommodating and was able to change us to a quiet room away from the main road.

Was on a busy road but overall a great little motel with good value for money. Would definitely recommend and will stay again if visiting Apollo Bay in the future.

We booked two units, each with two rooms, accommodating four adults and one 3-year-old. Each unit could easily fit three adults, and the space was spacious and cozy for all of us, with one room in each unit not utilized. The check-in and check-out process was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly. The location is very strategic and convenient for getting around, with free parking. The bed was comfortable, and the units were very clean. We’ve visited Great Ocean Road several times, and this is the best unit that suits our needs; we will definitely come back again.

While the swimming pool didn't appear clean, the cold weather during our visit made it a non-issue for us.

Dated and dirty around outside of shower. Landscaping and general feel of place was dismal. Grossly overpriced as well , $269 per night….

Not much.price wasn't bad

Very unclean.there 4 nights no clean towels ect .we had to ask.empty own bin ect.never saw staff.Wouldn't stay again
