Aldan Lodge

This was a very solid stay. We were able to do late check in as our ferry arrived rather late at night. The room was super tidy, the bed was comfortable and Picton is a gorgeous little town.

I would say the only downside is that the bathroom was functional but not fantastic. The water pressure in the shower and heat were pretty low and the toilet was a bit wobbly. They are functional but probably the weakest point of that room. Not enough to really subtract from the experience for a short visit, but would potentially become more problematic for a longer stay.

The owner was so helpful when we had a sudden change in arrival time (1:00am) and when we double booked by mistake.

Took me awhile to figure out the heater.

We have stayed at Aldan lodge several times over the years. It is close to town and convenient for the ferry. It is also dog friendly, although we did not have our dog with us this time.

Excellent position within walking distance from town with its great selection of bars and restaurants.u

Close to town clean and warm

Great location, close to the ferry terminal. Facilities were clean and pleasant. Location was the main thing and that was great. Good parking as well. Friendly staff.

Beds were a bit uncomfortable and I struggled to sleep as a result.

The room was surprising quiet for a hotel. Thus we could sleep good in stark contrast to another hotel

The stairs are steep and not davinci style…

The location was great, a short walk from eateries and close to the Cook Strait ferries.

Staircase up to the second level didn’t seem safe. Needs an upgrade.

A very good location as very near to Picton Ferry point, just walking distance to supermarket also

Only inconvenience is we have to stay at upstairs , if you bring big luggage then better use a small bag to store your clothes and necessities for easier access to upstairs.

Close to main town. Staff were friendly.

Unit smelled like dog urine. We tried to put up with it but after an hour and a half, we had to find other accommodation so we never ended up staying the night. Was very disappointing that no offer of a refund or partial refund was made. Staff did mention that no animals had been in the unit before our stay so I would say that the smell is probably normal. It did look like they were airing the unit out the next morning when we drove by but it will take more than that to clear the smell.

A little tired.

Location was ideal for the ferry. We had a truck and boat, plenty of help to park it up. Friendly and accommodating

There was a bit of a musty smell in our room. It was fine for one night.

The best motel beds I have ever laid my head down on. The room set up was great and clean. Staff were lovely. Best motel experience in a long time.

We stayed in a split level unit that would be very suitable for a family - one queen bed and 3 single beds. It was very spacious and was a good location, with a short walk to the waterfront and all shops, restaurants etc. It was very quiet which suited us before a ferry crossing the next morning.

Bathroom is very big as it has a spa. Beds are comfortable. Staff was very helpful to help me change room that was available as I needed a ground floor unit.

The size of the dining table is too cramped for the living area. The shampoo dispensers didn't work. There were also guests who sat at the balcony of opposite unit talking and laughing loudly unfortunately.
