Location and shared facilities with Mercure

The room was very basic

Great location. Comfortable bed. Great underground parking . Perfect for an overnight stay

No tea making facilities in the room

The room was OK, with a good walk in shower. We had asked for a quiet room and we got one with a nice view over a quiet courtyard area at the rear of the hotel. Parking underneath the hotel was great (pay extra but worth it). We also pre booked breakfast, it was varied and plentiful, with some lovely fresh bread choices.

We knew that we were booking a budget hotel but...- the room had no drawers for storage and (in my view) not enough shelving/wardrobe space for two people staying for 3 nights.- the bathroom supplies were scant. No hand towels, not even a box of tissues. Just one middle sized towel each. There are lots of Ibis hotels in Caen but this one is the only one that shares some facilities with a Mercure. This became a standing joke to us - 'I bet they have tissues in Mercure rooms' 'I bet people in Mercure rooms can put their clothes away' etc...If these two things had been better it would have been an excellent stay - but instead I can only mark it as good.

Room soundproofing not good

The rooms themselves are nice comfortable bed and shower and Air con also. Quiet location just out of the main area.

Breakfast was expensive for the lack of choice. Just eggs and bacon - was 28euros for 2 people for 1 morning. the walls are not proper walls. Partitions so you can hear everything especially the cleaners very early in the morning like 7 and 8am pulling furniture around the rooms above and slamming doors going in and out making rooms.

Location. Good base for the d day landing sights.Hotel very good. Close to good restaurants in nice area of Caen.

Parking, cleanliness, nice personnel, close to city center, decent breakfast, 24hr reception - basically it's exactly what you need when you're on the road.

* Breakfast was tasty but not that varied. I mean, it's good for 2-3 days, but no more. * They have parking, but I would have loved to be able to reserve. I mean, after you travel and get there at midnight, it would have been nice to be sure you don't have to dig for parking around. Fortunately, that was not the case.

Fabulous location with restaurants all around and the Port de Plaissance outdoor bars and snack bars (aka food trucks). It’s a hive of activity but rooms very quiet. Straight off the velo path from Ouistreham. Perfect

Room was very small

The location is exellent right in the centre of the town near all the resturants. The is plenty of parking if you are in a coach right in front of the hotel. But beware of Sundays there is no parking outside the hotel due to a Sunday Market

Friendly n helpful staff

With the exception of the dragon running the breakfast room. On the first morning, staff were superb. Rooms clean, comfortable.

Modern, clean and breakfast was great. Staff was including bar staff really good, very busy with us all in but very good service.

The room was small but the bed was comfortable. The small fitness center was nice to have.

My room was faced out to the street, the window you could hear talking and cars all the time. Was woken up at 05:45 by a group boarding a bus. (My colleagues with rooms facing towards the court yard did not have this problem.)There was no coffee/tea kettle in the room.

There was noisy work being done that wasn't mentioned at check-in. It started at 9.15am which isn't super early but continued all day.
