Hotel Ar Terra Nova

Loved their breakfast, it was super quality - the room was a little run down, but I chose the most budget one. They also allowed me to stay and work through the afternoon

I was on the highest floor and the internet didn’t work on my floor which was annoying because I needed to work

Location is nice. Shortish walk from Intra Muros and two nice bays even nearer. It is residential and bars close early.

The front desk staff were amazing--friendly, hospitable, accommodating. I had many questions about travel in and around Saint Malo that they answered. I didn't use the in-house breakfast as I preferred a coffee and pasty at nearby patisseries, but the breakfast and lounge areas were well appointed and comfortable. The hotel is located next to a busy shopping street with shops, patisseries, restaurants, etc. A post office was around the corner too. It was easy to get from the hotel to the harbor and walled city by foot.

I know most European hotel rooms are small, so I was comfortable with the space. Since there is no AC, I slept with my window open, so there was some ambient noise from the street below, nothing too bad, though. The bathroom also was small, as usual in a city hotel, and the finishes were a little well worn though clean.

The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had an issue with car and managed to move our booking forward one day. He helped us store the additional luggage instead of carry 2 flights and even arranged a taxi for us. Very impressed by receiving such support from the kind man.

We have stayed at the Ar Terra Nova several times and have always been very happy with all aspects of our stay. The receptionist has been the same on each occasion and is very helpful.

The male receptionist on check in was very nice and helpful. Secure bicycle storage in courtyard. Good location and good value. Hot shower.

Slight smell from drains, extra pillow would be nice

Location is good, very friendly staff who does a great job, hotel is basic but all you need for a night, clean sheets/towels, good value, bed was comfy

Kind of dated rooms in need of a makeover, relatively noisy in terms of doors/neighbours, curtains were partially ripped off their rail, so they let in daylight, bed is squeaking when moving around.

Excellent location and very cost effective. Easy walk to Brittany Ferries, Moderate walk to Intra Muros and Gares.Most facilities just next to the hotel; supermarket, others stores, cafes and bars, only two restaurants.Breakfast not bad.

Slight disadvantage is the hotel closes during the middle of the day - so no bag drop then possible

Easy check-in and check-out

Pillows could have been more comfortable. The curtain rod was bent, so it would let light in.

Great for our second time for a one night stay before catching the ferry. A classic old hotel building, nicely decorated but no frills. The room is warm and comfortable and has everything you need, though the shower was a little small and in need of updating. Friendly welcome from the lady at reception, and the optional breakfast was worth the 12€ extra. Beware there is no lift! We were on the third floor. But great value for money, and we will be back!

Excellent value for money, I had a small double room, which was fine for me. Not a place to stay for a holiday, but for one night, like me, it was perfectly fine.

There is no lift, so you need to be able to manage up to 3 floors of steep stairs.

Friendly staff

Couldn’t check in till 4pm. Family room was on the 4th floor with kids and luggage and no lift. Wi-Fi didn’t work from 4th floor. No kettle or food and drink facilities.

Excellent location, very kind and welcoming staff, room was clean, value for money, and very nicely decorated. Cannot wait to return.

The place is very clean and pleasant, reasonable for the money you are paying. It is also just near the intramuros and there were shops nearby like pharmacy, bakery and convenience store you can walk to for a very short distance

I came there with a luggage and there is no elevator in the area. Another thing is the poor wifi connection, I am not sure is it because of my room location but I end up using my data for most of my whole stay.

I was catching a ferry so only staying one night. The hotel location was a 15 minute walk to the ferry port so a convenient location for me. The reception staff are very friendly, the room clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean and the bathroom spotless. Very good value for money.

Lovely small hotel that has everything you need. Definitely recommend and will stay again when in St Malo.

It was a hard task to convince the receptionist to book us a taxi as a lot of people took a piss in the past and did not show up on time, however we managed to convince her good heart and in the end she was brilliant.

Good location and friendly, helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast.
