Pros +
- Cozy, well-appointed room, very quiet! Lots of information in the lobby, beach towels available. Very convenient location to the walls and beach, as well as nearby shops.
- Great location next to the beach in the old medieval town. Comfortable beds, clean rooms.
- location, view, room, breakfast
Cons -
- Tight getting up the stairs
- We had the rooms in the loft with sloping ceilings. so you couldnt stand up straight while having a pee. No lift and 4 flights of stairs was a bit of a pain.
- We thought it had a view. It was not clear that it was first floor, no view.

Easy check in. Good room.
We thought it had a view. It was not clear that it was first floor, no view.
Perfect location to enjoy Saint-Malo. However, please note that access to the train or main bus station is a bit far (30 min walking)
The only detail: the shower needs a curtain to avoid getting the bathroom completely wet
Great location, just within city walls. Close to the sea and walk out to the islands at low tide. Very good breakfast.
Rather gloomy room. Just needed brighter bulbs.
The view from this room is unbeatable, just out overlooking the bay, and the price charged was lower than I expected for such a great spot! The staff were incredibly flexible with my arrival time being later than their opening hours and left me with good instructions to get settled in.
Loved the location! Close to pretty much everything. Staff was very accommodating on check-out day, keeping our luggage until mid afternoon.
Access to shower is a little restricted, my husband struggled a little. We were on the 3rd floor so best to request a room on the first if not so fit or with heavy or large suitcases. Mentioning for awareness only. Wasn’t an issue for us.
Excellent setting with a beautiful view out over the sea. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
No lift and stairs were a bit steep, especially the stone steps leading to the reception.
Location was perfect- Intra Muros and by the sea pool with the breakfast place directly opposite serving the most amazingly good value breakfast prepping us for a brilliant day exploring on our e-bikes. There was a room for us to lock our bikes out of site and not have to worry about them overnight. The showers were hot, the sea views incredible and the restaurant just next door served fabulous food with incredible service. The secret weapon was the owner’s rice pudding in the morning- he kindly sent us off with a small jar on our second day cycling. Divine!!! It was so clean, so comfortable and so friendly!
Nothing… other than we couldn’t delay our return to guernsey and really wanted to stay so much longer!!!!
A lovely property set at the back of the ramparts. Room was bright clean and a shower room. Access into the hotel is steps only and the breakfast room is across the road from the hotel. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Very friendly owners and you are a made to feel welcome. This is out third stay at this Hotel.
Intra Muros Access to Bon Secours beach - 1 minute from front door to arch in ramparts wall.CleanComfortable bed Courteous staffQuiet with shutters closedLuggage storage free until 6pmNoon checkout

Great location within walled city so close to all key sites and restaurants. Rooms with sea views are spectacular!
Access isn’t great for those with mobility issues as lots of stairs to reach rooms but worth the climb for the views.
Location near the beach but also good for discovering Intra Muros.Good starting point for hikes in GR34
Great little hotel in a fabulous location within the old city walls in St Malo. There was no lift, but that was made very clear when we booked. We were quite glad to have had a room on the first floor though, as the stairs were quite narrow and steep and we had substantial luggage! The room itself was actually more roomy than I expected, although there wasn’t enough space for more than one (wooden) chair, so one wouldn’t be inclined to spend much time there. The en suite was compact, but perfectly adequate, and had a good shower. The blinds on the window ensured that the room was very dark at night, and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of hangers and hanging space in the wardrobe, and there was a safe, which was a bonus.Breakfast isn’t included in the room rate, but is offered for €13 in the owners’ café bar across the street. We ate there every morning, and it was lovely and good value for money. All the staff that we met were very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Its location by the main swimming beach. The friendliness of the staff. The value for money.
I was happy with the hotel
We loved the very central and atmospheric location: within the old city walls. The hotel was very near one of the entrances to the ramparts of St Malo which is a fantastic way to explore this wonderful unique city. The hotel was also near the beach. The room was spacious and flooded with light. It was a joy to see the sunshine and THAT view every time we returned to base!We reserved spaces for the brunch on Sunday. The food was plentiful and delicious. The TV had lots of English speaking channels! There was a kettle in the room for those cups of teas when needed.
Nothing major. There was no air conditioning and no fan. Thankfully, we were not in St Malo on hot days! We opened the window, which was OK for us. The bathroom was small and had an oblong wooden bench under the sink which jutted out. So you'll have to watch your shins, knees etc whilst using the shower and sink. The two teabags and two sachets of coffee were not replaced. We ended up buying some and using those. There was also no milk provided. Reception is not manned 24 hours. Tiphanie checked us in at the time we said we would be there. We then next saw her two days later in their restaurant before our brunch when we arranged to check out. This may be a problem for some but not for us as we did not need her recommendations. As others have said here, there are some steps to climb for the rooms, but these were also not a problem for us. The advantages mentioned above way outweighed the above and is reflected in our score.
The location next to the walls of the beautiful old town, so close to the beach with a fantastic sea view is amazing! The staff were very friendly in the hotel and the bar/cafe opposite. Very peaceful too.
Excellent location inside the walls.Close to restaurants and the beach and shops.Everyone was friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to see us.Brilliant views from room.Easy to get to lots of other places.
My only gripe was the lack of headroom (Room No 3 on Floor 4) due to the roof angles.I'm about 6 ft tall and had to bend in parts of the bathroom and bedroom. As we were there for only two nights I put up with it, for a longer stay it would be annoying.
Great location, good bike storage, excellent breakfasts.
We’re fine with steps but those you are not need to make sure they get a room on the lowest floor.
