Ambassadeur Hotel - Cherbourg Port de Plaisance

Location by the old harbor is great. It is within a block of a dozen good restaurants. The old centre of town is nearby. Breakfast is excellent and so is the coffee machine. Elevator from street level to your room level.

The room was a bit small, as often happens with French hotels. That's OK with me, but others may disagree.

Modern, clean, amazing view; one of the most enjoyable rooms I've ever stayed in. Great little tea service, great shower, everything was exceptional.

This hotel is perfectly located in Cherbourg. A 12 minute walk from the train station, right beside the seafront and close to all the lovely shops and restaurants in Cherbourg. Staff are really nice and helpful. We couldn't find anything to fault the hotel for. Cherbourg is a lovely place to visit and this hotel is perfect for exploring.

A very nice comfortable property

As soon as you enter the room you find a big intimidating sign saying not to smoke in the room and that there is a fine. As responsible guests I believe it was a little too much. Makes you think about the type of guest they usually have in order place just a sign.

Comfortable (though small) single room. Comfortable bed. Decent breakfast choices. Good location- view over port de plaisance.Safe place for bicycle in locked ground floor room.

My favourite hotel in France. After a long journey to catch the Cherbourg ferry, this is my favourite stay. Friendly staff, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and perfect location.

Room was nicer than expected for the price but still nothing special (not that it's expected). Staff on check-in were lovely. Exceptional service. Staff at checkout were a bit more callous, but thats business! No complaints Was charged a deposit equal to the amount 30 minutes after i booked, no prior warning or mention of it anywhere. They then charged my card on arrival. Im travelling for medical reasons, didnt bring a load of money because I didnt need to. This charge brought me below the amount i needed to book my train the next day, and i didnt get my money back til 3 hours after checking out. Missed my train, appointment in the hospital etc and had to book another hotel for the second night.

I cannot recall a single item to complain about. Bed was comfortable. Water pressure was strong. Facilities were spotless. Staff were busy, but helpful. Unusually, pots of Tea were available, which is a delight.

Nothing really. The Toilet roll holders were cumbersome, if that's really a complaint. One dry drain trap in our room, but smell went after a short flow of water. Really nothing to complain about.

Comfortable room over-looking the old quarter. Quirky nouville chic decor. Easy lounge downstairs for a bit of work. Night staff great humour. Excellent breakfast selection.

Tricky step into the deep bath/shower; with step available on one side.

Great location just a few minutes from the port room was big clean over looking the sea friendly staff breakfast was lovely coffee tea etc all in all I'd recommend the ambassador hotel to anyone looking for a hotel in cherbourg

Very comfortable room. Tastelfully decorated. Excellent location, near the shoppong area and good choice of restaurants, and of course, 6 minutes to the car ferry!!

Well located with parking nearby

The room was not as advertised. We were in a double rom with marina view, with seating area, described as 18m2 with large bathroom, walk in shower, separate bath. Photos appeared to show modern decor with large windows. We got instead a tiny room with ancient decor and two small windows, not as in the photos, tiny bathroom, shower over bath. Room is advertised as having access to an executive lounge. There is no executive lounge. Cold breakfast buffet or cook your own eggs and bacon. We paid extra for an 18m2 room and a modern bathroom. When I enquired about this discrepancy, I was told that there were lots of rooms in the hotel and not all will look as described in the photos. Not happy. Better value elsewhere in Cherbourg.
