Pros +
- Guys who manage the structure, who take care of cleaning and breakfast. Location very strategic near the sea and restaurant/bar (which saves from an even lower score)
- Location
- - great location, close to the beach, local shops, other hotels and restaurants - spacious room with big bed - hot water - comfortable furniture - fridge in the room (although working very loudly)
Cons -
- The photos in booking did not correspond to the assigned room (our room at least). the electricity was often missing for hours so no air conditioning (but it doesn't work anyway), no light, ceiling fan, possibility to recharge, shower in the dark, no hot water, no wifi (I specify that the impression is that it is not true that it is missing because they turn it off in the whole area but it is a specific problem of theirs structure, in fact everyone around had electricity also without a generator, we have stayed in 5 different places in zanzibar, but never had such long power outages). Breakfast with insufficient seats, limited to 6 guests (it would be enough to increase tables and chairs). Poor breakfast. The room that assigned to us I believe should absolutely not be made available (I don't know if the one next to it was better), it is on the first floor in front of a sort of local restaurant and from here the nightmare of every day all day is born: literally impossible to sleep after about 5.20am when the rooster crowing (they have a chicken coop right in an area of the restaurant), the feeling is of having it in the room, continuously until 6.20, when the rooster stops and the restaurant workers arrive with the crying and screaming of the children with the women screaming over the screams of the children to calm them down (?!), this restaurant uses coal/wood to cook all day, guess where all the smoke goes? If there is no electricity (very often all afternoon/evening) and you have no air conditioning, no ceiling fan and you are suffering from the heat, you can't open the windows because of the smoke and the smell, you just have to leave the building and go for a walk even if you want to rest after a day in the beach or on an excursion. I believe that the owner of the property has no interest in improving and/or has never been to see the situation. The potential of the property is very very high, but as of today it is not competitive,
- After we arrived we asked them if the AC works, it was included in our booking. As the electricity was off when we arrived, we could not check it but the staff said yes it works. In the evening we figured out it doesnt work, so they offered another room but there the AC was also broken. The staff pretended its new to them but obviously it was not true as later they said everyone is complaining and some people leave immediately after arrival. For me the most disappointing thing was not that the AC didnt work, but that they didnt tell us the truth.
- - local people living downstairs at the hotel slam doors very loudly (even after 10 PM) - frequent no electricity periods due to no payment for the electricity in the hotel (other parts of the village have electricity at the same time) - cleaning and breakfast service could be better
