- Lovely hosts, very pet friendly, nice atmosphere:) good place for stopovers while taking the ferry from Livorno.
- Location
- The hotel is actually an old villa with wonderful architecture, big spacious rooms and nice interior decorations. They even managed to install an elevator. They a parking place in the back of the villa, but the places are a little bit tight, so your auto paint is a the mercy of the attention of others. The villa is situated just across a big naval academy complex. The hotel staff was nice and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size, but it could do with a little bit of renovating, especially the walls above the shower. The breakfast was OK - ham, cheese, yogurt and sweets. The variety was not all that great, but it was fresh and for a quick breakfast it was enough. The coffee was very good and freshly made. There is a small beach near the hotel, just at the end of the naval complex - Spiaggia del Felciaio - the beach is all pebbles, the space is tight and the entrance in the water was also very difficult because of the rocks. There were a lot of people sitting on chairs, including in the water. At the beach entrance you can find a small bar with refreshments. All in all not my kind of beach, but for some people it might work.
Cons -
- Did not meet Boking.com description or the photos of exterior of hotel & interior of hotel. Staff was OK but not great. Felt like a hostel.
- Although the villa is very nice I found to price a little to high - I payed 290 Euros a night. For the price I think you can find something with more options.I had to pay extra for parking - it was not mentioned on the site previously to making the booking and it costs about 15 Euros. As I said before, for that room price the parking should be free. There are no restaurants in a reasonable walking distance, so you need a car.
- Water did not went down in sink and we asked them to fix it but no one even respond. Very dark and untidy room. Unresponsive staff.

Very close to the beach
Cleanliness. Facilities inside. Horrible smell in the room 24. AC so bad almost as nonexistent.
Location and staff very friendly
Parking very tight
My younger daughter liked the tower and the chandelier in the room, as well as her bed.
pretty old building nice area to walk along the water front
lacking amenities - charged for parking !
Room was nice and clean, i was pleased with the parking options and breakfast was ok.
A bit far away from beaches with sand.
The architecture of the building itself, including the interior of this "Belle Epoque" villa right on the promenade, is just breath-taking and full of atmosphere . Such a beautiful place! We were able to park our car in the street right next to the hotel entrance.Hotel Gennarino is located about 3km from the centre of Livorno, which is a nice walk along the seaside - if it's not too hot - otherwise the bus-stop is right outside the hotel. Massimiliano and the rest of the family and team were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was rich and exceeded our expectations. Also, having the yummy breakfast on the patio of this beautiful building was a great start to the day! We stayed for two nights in the red room which was just fine. We were perfectly content!
The mattress on my side of the bed was a little worn out and upon our arrival the sink in the bathroom could've been cleaner.
The building itself is a nice little period gem of architecture, lots of charm, looking very fine and classy. The position is right at the bus stop which was a plus as I didn't use the car there. Shoreline is very close, though it is a 10 mins walk. The neighbourhood seems decent and safe, as the military naval academy is accross the street. The room was spatious and clean, aircondition was fully functionable.
I missed those little extras at the room to feel comfortable - a kettle, some coffe and tea perhaps... a wellcome drink or something similar to make you feel wellcomed. The staff was ok - not rude, not too polite, not too interested either, but ok.The room was ground floor but felt like semi basement - there were moist stains at the base of walls. The room didnt smell bad, it was fine.Right in front of the windows there were cars parked at the level of the window pane. It would be unconfortable if my stay was any longer than one night. But for a one night sleepover it was acceptable.Overall not deserving the star rating but not to be avoided.
Building has a nice and classic appearance. Love the actual keys instead of cards. Staff is nice and flexible. We had to wait for the ferry in the evening and it was no problem to safely keep our car behind the building and to keep using the facilities.
It is kind of a big walk to restaurants or cocktailbars because of the large military base in front of the door.
The location is beautiful, and the hotel looks nice from the outside. The breakfast was decent for the price.
The hotel had an unpleasant odor, and the room's air conditioning was ineffective. With the temperature exceeding 24 degrees, it was uncomfortably hot, making it challenging to sleep.
Great family owned hotel with nice staff and good rooms and close to the harbour
Nice historical building, own parking, good breakfast.
Cleanliness of the room needs to be improved. Rooms definitely require refreshment. A/C switch was broken and A/C didn’t work fine. Smell in the room.
This was not my first stay at Gennarino, so I knew what to expect. Location is on the seafront so is within reach of most restaurants etc. It is also well-served by a transport line towards the centre.
The property sometimes shows its age. The air-conditioning control unit was broken when I first stayed there and it's still broken (in a different room). Other wise all's OK
Beautiful building
Air conditioned doesn’t work properly. Was very difficult to fall asleep unfortunately
Traditional style hotel, maintained very well, with a number of modern features (e.g. excellent wifi, airconditioning, safe). Staff were very friendly. Nice range of continental breakfast options. Easy access to sea, baths (pools) and town by bus, with Pisa, Florence and La Spezia a further train ride away.
The seating area and TV by the lobby were used by the watchman in the evening, so sitting downstairs was not really an option. Minor issue only!
The gentleman who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us. The room was lovely.
