Pros +
- View from Terrace and position on beach
- The hotel itself is opulent and has the appearance of a palace. The furnishings in the rooms and throughout the hotel have the appearance of late 18th century - but could definitely use some cleaning.
- Perfect location. Continental stylish hotel - American in Italy :)
Cons -
- Could not sit by the windows in the restaurant at lunchtime as set up for an evening group. Same with sun beds all piled together Asked for a sea view if possible but did not get it Asked to pay for parking when the booking included free parking.
- The rooms were very nice. Unfortunately, with the height of the ceilings the room was extremely dusty. The vents for the air conditioner were caked with dust and the curtains smelled horrible and had not been laundered in a long time. The pool is small.

The daily breakfast was incredible! Our room was on the top floor with a big outdoor balcony that overlooked the Ligurian Sea and Terrazza Mascagni. Also enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant and a stop on the city bus was very close to the hotel.
No complaints at all!
Rooms were very large and clean. Views of the sea excellent. Location - perfect!
The front desk staff had a poor attitude. They were condescending, and didn’t seem to care about answering questions or going out of their way to help. That is especially true of the night staff. Based on their performance - they behaved like people I expect to deal with at a 3 star hotel. I am going to follow up with the management of the hotel.
Lovely staff very helpful and kind! Love the decadent air of this Palace, fantastic view to the sea!
Amazing stuff, room upgraded to Jr Suite without even asking. Great breakfast buffet, great value proposition
This is a magnificent property. Everything is first class rated, including the staff, the manager, the breakfast and of course the building itself. The spa is beautiful and has a fantastic steam room and a sauna. I would highly recommend this hotel.
There was not one thing I didn’t like about this property
Would not stay here again
Food choices, no a/c, pool always closed
Location
Unkept, odd smell in the lobby, stuffy rooms, Soddy carpets, paint chipping across to roof and other fixtures. 8 out of 10 staff wasn’t very helpful at ordering something behind the scenes from a birthday.
The breakfast was great, the common areas were comfortable and well-maintained. The staff were very kind and welcoming.
While the common areas and staff were pleasant, I found that the room could use some maintenance. The window handle was not firmly fixed, and with the strong wind during my stay, the window produced noticeable vibrations and noises. The receptionist advised me not to open the window, which made it impossible to close the external shutters and block out the light. I used the curtains instead, but the cords to tie them back were missing the fixing rings, which made this somewhat inconvenient. The wooden floor showed signs of wear in a few places, and in the bathroom, there were mold stains on the shower tray, and the toilet water was continuously running.
Cool old grand building. Great breakfast. Nice big comfy room.Doorman was good chat.
Over 30 mins to check in. Staff borderline rude. Everything costs extra.
The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was very good also, with great service.
It took over a half hour to check in. The hotel was in poor condition.
Location and service.Rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast well worth the price.
The room, breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach area.
The location was amazing and the room was spacious and the hotel has history.
The room is really old and needs refurnishing, the bedding and towels need changing the AC was not working, the breakfast area was really noisy by the waiters and the buffet was very lacking and not including egg orders, also the slopes outside were very slippery and could cause accidents.
The staff are always very nice friendly and happy to help. I stay at this hotel very often
Location and staff
Loved the restaurant on top of the hotel. Also, loved the room (the colors were wonderful) and the bathtub.
The only thing that could've been better was the A/C. I called several times, but the front desk kept saying either the window was open (which is was not) or the A/C was working (which it was not).
Location, Spa, staff
Mattress, foam based was not very comfortable
From the outside it looked like a palace, from the inside, it’s too old and rooms smell like mold. It needs renovation
Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was far from enjoyable. To begin with, the property itself is in dire need of renovation. The building feels old and neglected, with a persistent musty, moldy odor that permeates the air. It’s clear that maintenance is not a priority here, as the facilities are outdated and poorly maintained, which really affects the overall atmosphere. The staff, rather than being helpful and welcoming, were downright indifferent and at times, rude. They seemed entirely uninterested in providing any kind of customer service, leaving us to fend for ourselves. There was a distinct lack of hospitality, and the few staff members we did interact with appeared as though they couldn’t be bothered to assist with even the most basic requests. To make matters worse, the location is extremely inconvenient. There is virtually nothing to do in the surrounding neighborhood. The area felt deserted, with no local amenities, dining options, or entertainment. It was difficult to even find a place to grab a bite nearby, let alone have an enjoyable evening.Additionally, there was no clear or accessible way to reach staff for assistance during the day, and at night, it felt like no one was even available to address any concerns. This made the entire stay feel isolated and frustrating. All in all, this experience was a far cry from the standard I expect from a hotel, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable or enjoyable stay. There are simply too many issues with the property, staff, and location to justify the price or the inconvenience
