Pros +
- They need to upgrade the property it’s bad and pest control
- The resort offers, tennis, bike rental etc. The pool and surrounds were lovely and the grounds are well kept. The chalets, Golden Terrace, are spacious but is in urgent need of refurbishment.
- I liked the house we stayed in . The bed was comfortable and we had a great view of the vineyard.
Cons -
- The pools is not in proper working condition the play fields and paving need attention
- The furnishings need to upgraded.
- The tennis court was old and run down . We rented their bicycles and they were so old . The seat on the bicycle was wobbly , my husbands breaks did not work and out sons wheel got a flat as he was riding , would recommend getting new bicycles!!!!! As people would want to rent bikes . Also the most important thing is that the hot springs were not even working throughout our stay ! How terrible and we didn’t even get any kind of discount or some kind of sorry or perhaps we could have rented those broken bicycles for free instead of charging us!!!

Looks much better that on the pics, pool is opened until 10 o’clock
No any heating or electric blankets
The house in itself was well equiped. Had all nessecities. Loved the fact that we paid reduced rate for entry to the hot pools at Avalon Springs. The confrmation call prior to our stay was good. The fact that security was well visible throughout he night, made feel safe and secure.
The walk-in shower though as water got through to the toilet side. Can maybe extend the hours for chalet guests at the hot springs. So wanted to still enjoy it after sunset.
We stayed for three nights in one of the Golden Terrace Chalets and overall had a pleasant and relaxing experience. Plenty to do for the kids. The staff was friendly and helpful at reception. The chalet was clean and the tranquil setting added to the enjoyment of our stay.
The chalet interior could really benefit from an upgrade. The furniture, cupboards, and kitchen are outdated and in need of modernization to match the otherwise beautiful surroundings. Small touches like updated cabinetry and couches are needed. The wifi signal was also poor inside the chalet. We were also a bit disappointed that the heated pool felt colder than expected, especially considering it’s one of the main draws of the resort. A slightly warmer temperature would have made it far more enjoyable, particularly in the cooler evenings.
The warm water, facilities
On arrival the office staff was very unprofessional...instead of checking properly for our booking we were told our booking is not with them...we were sent to Avalon springs...the young lady there looked properly on her system and phoned them to say they must check properly...on returning the other lady reminded this lady to check my name and not my surname...they found it...yet I gave her both my name and surname when I walked in the first time...no apology nothing...she made as if it was Mt fault for not giving proper details...your reference no did not even help, so why do u then supply ref numbers...
The kitchen is has all the necessary items.
There were cockroaches in the house. On the 2nd night we had to call Security just after midnight because there were annoying and uncomfortable noise from the top of the house. Security deduced that some youngsters from the unit located above our unit were throwing stones or rocks on to our unit.I must commend Security for coming so quickly after we made the call.
Facility had everything you require. Enough space and the bar area, which is only for hotel guests, looked nice. Mountain view is stunning
Cleanliness. You have to book cleaning services. We missed that, and they could not make a plan. I hoped it was automatic. There was dirt behind the door. It looked like somebody swept it there and left it. I have a photo. The fact you are seen as a day visitor and may only enter one area if you pay. Bars, other areas are only for hotel guests. The weather was cold, so if the springs are not an option, there is nothing to do
Friendly staff and swimming pool was nice at the villas
The “luxury” villas are certainly not luxury. They are old and lots of broken things. The couches are revolting and dirty. The whole place needs to be renovated. The photos on the website must be decades old. It was very disappointing.
We were very disappointed in the behavior of the guests, even though security did their best to get
The guests staying next to us were loud, drunk and disorderly. Our children got really bad Impetigo (bacteria infection on the skin).
the hotwater pool
the undercover shade was broken. no lights leading to warm water pool.
I have stayed at Montagu Springs over a dozen times. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff are really friendly. Super clean, well equipped, air conditioned chalets with very comfy beds.
There really should be a shop/cafe on site. The smallish paying heated pool (we were the only ones with wrist bands, the other 20 odd people in the crowded pool hadn't paid) is extremely murky with an island of white tiles hidden under the water, consequently we are all sporting bruises. It rained a lot of the time, of the 3 units we booked, only 1 had an awning which is half shredded, so we sat outside in the carport.
Nothing at all
Despite receiving a confirmation of my booking, I was informed upon arrival that the original accommodation was not available and was offered an alternative.Unfortunately, the alternative chalet was not up to standard. The bedding and pillows were severely stained and soiled, and I had to request clean replacements. Furthermore, the bathroom taps and shower hose were broken and dirty, which added to the overall unpleasantness of my stay. Given the subpar conditions and the fact that my original booking was not honored, I believe that a full refund is justified. The experience was not worth the amount I paid, and I hope that you will take my complaint seriously and take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future.
Paid pools, child-friendly facilities, bar staff
Low quality beds, blinds in kitchen didn't work, couldn't use washing machine, attitude at cafeteria where we bought bands.
Facilities are well kept ,I think they should cater for more umbrellas near the slide as there are only 2 and once these spots are taken then no shade
The cost of food was a bit expensive
WE ENJIOYED OUR STAY, BUT THE ONLY UNPLEASANT THING WAS THE DRAINAGE.. THE WATER COULD NOT DRAIN IN THE BATHROOM. AND A PROBLEM WITH THE BASIN TAP. CHALET 117 (GOLDEN TERRACES) NEED TO BE UPGRADED.
Comfortable
Curtains in lounge area came off rails when opened them as there was no stoppers on the rails. bedrooms carpets need to be cleaned or replaced as they have a odor in them.
The Holiday was lovely, clean house and basic requirements were available... The surroundings lovely and peacefull...
The heated pool was extremely hot and with a result wasted money on a pool we could not use but after much complaints we could enjoy the last day of the pool only... seeing that you travel from so far... The DSTV package really needs an upgrade as we really couldn't watch the channels we liked...
Very nice and spacious Villa. Late check-out a welcoming bonus.
Paying R120 pp for splash pools are just ridiculous. Not worth it at all. They should be free to all guests, as the stay is already so expensive. Won't be be seeing us again.
