Pros +
- Exceptionally friendly professional hosts who went the extra mile to ensure we had a perfect stay. Delicious breakfast o
- We have stayed many times at the mimosa, the staff are excellent helpful and friendly, the rooms were quite large and well equipped, a special thanks to Bernie the manager who is always so nice
- We liked the breakfast, the room was spacious, the bathroom was far too big, the garden was very pleasant, the car park was safe.
Cons -
- The pool was full of leaves and berries and the pump was not working
- The sparse number of convenient plug sockets. The sewerage smell in the garden
- Property generally is very tired and to mask this they put us in the self catering rooms which are separate to the hotel (new build units which are very hot in summer). We were not given the room we had chosen on booking. On site manager was very helpful however and we selected a different room - only possible as the hotel has limited guests. Pool was in need of attention and seemed green which wasn’t inviting.

Location was good right in the centre of Town. Staff are very accommodating.

The garden and the dining room. Very central so easy walking to amenities.
Our room was a little dark with no balcony. However there were some brighter rooms with balcony access.
Everything. Great central location and excellent facilities All the staff were amazing and created a wonderful experience for us. My wife is disabled and they even offered to bring breakfast to her in the room to save her walking across the garden to the dining room. The evening meal was excellent and could not be faulted. All in all a memorable experience and we will definitely return. .
Nothing. Would not hesitate to return.
Great location. Restaurant was really good and staff service was excellent
Room was a bit basic and advertised fruit bowl on arrival but received two over ripe apples in a bowl. Rather just leave it out the offering
Good location and safe parking. Food was good. Our room was large and comfortable.
The swimming pool had alot of leaves in it and unusable.
The staff were fantastic and the location is so central
Bed metal frames are a bit noisy if your a light sleep
Not much
Attitude of most staff bar (except Onsite manager Bernie and Nwabisa - who honestly tried but seemed to be two stars amongst a sea of incompetency). We arrived to a extremely lack luster welcome on the 1st new day of the year 2025. We were met by an uninterested person called Leonie. Who took us to a cottage across the road from the lodge (not what we booked or what we saw on the pictures when we booked). We were told to park our car in an open, unprotected area (again, not what we were expecting). We decided to give the place a try but through the day and night; vagrants walked to the parking lot and surveyed our car; came right up to our front porch (as it's open and faced the street) and knocked on it as well as looked in; one of guests rear window which faced the open area (which anyone from the road could access) at the rear was unable to lock so she did not sleep well; the same guest had bits of mouldy wood fall from the roof as there was water damage; and all of us could barely sleep due to the noise from the bar on one side of the cottage and a restaurant on another - both very close. The next morning, we complained, and the on duty manager Bernie was very apologetic and asked the reception to change our rooms from where we were across the road to where the main lodge was. He also acknowledged the vagrant security concerns and that the cottage was undergoing renovation due to water damage. He was not sure why we were put in there by Leonie and Alma (the 2 on duty when we booked in). We had booked and paid for 3 separate rooms as we were 6 adults and 1 child, but due to availability we were shoe horned into a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment where guests that paid for a separate room had to share a bath and sleep on a sleeper couch in an open lounge!! Bear in mind we had 2 nights to go of a 3 night stay.We took this up with the lodge and also lodged a complaint on booking.com.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and clean and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely enjoyed my stay and would recommend Mimosa.
If the lodge had a hot pool it would have topped the experience luckily it is Summer so the pool was perfect for the hot days.
Staff very friendly. Accommodation very well appointed . Amazing restaurant
The property was very spacious, very clean and very comfortable
There was a gas stove, but no pots or pans or plates nothing. It would’ve been great to be able to fry a steak or something
Wonderful stop over at the Mimosa in a two bedroom apartment overlooking the mountains. Very comfortable beds and great walk-in showers. The welcome we received was lovely and the staff were charming. Our breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would recommend.
The History and location
The over quality of the rooms. Bathroom was appalling. The gardens were neglected and sad. House keeping needs attention and rooms upgrading.
Hotel made and effort to cook oats for cyclist at 06:00 -appreciated the extra effort.
The geyser in Mountain View Lodge second bathroom is not always hot.
Central location Safe parking off the street
We were moved to a studio apartment instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main building. Although this offered a lot of space, the was a lot of smell of smoke coming through the built in fireplace and braai, especially when the fan for the bathroom was on. It almost seemed the apartment was not finished furnishing, there were no curtains or blinds in the living room and the TV was not connected
I loved the beautiful mountain view from the room. I loved the food! Nice location near everything.
Mimosa lodge is a very good place for those traveling in a family as the apartments are very spacious, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful
The hump when you drive your car in, it destroyed our car
Location is great in the centre of the historic town. Dinner and breakfast were really good, service very friendly
