Sjøstrand Rorbuer - Cozy Cabins by the Sea

Cozy fisherman cabin feeling! You had everything you needed for the stay. Perfectly located in the middle of Lofoten, kinda, short drives to most of the hikes and beaches. Loved the wooden sauna, "hyvät löylyt" as we say in Finnish!

Cute authentic fisherman cabins with everything you need. When we asked the hosts for additional cooking ware which they provided us with without a problem. 20 mmm walk from Ballstad centrum and from the hike to Nonstinden. We also used the sauna which was very nice.

It's a nice location very quiet except for a few cars passing but very rare. You can’t hear it from the inside.You a nice direct view of the fjord from your window.

It's not really that clean. It has a ‘clean as you go’ policy which is fine, but I hope if the previous user did not clean they have to make sure that it is clean for the new clients.

The location was excellent. The host was very kind and the place was clean and tidy. We had great time during our stay there and would be very happy to visit again.

We liked everything about our 2 nights stay. The position is really good, Mary Ann & Borge are great hosts, they welcomed us in a polite and nice way. The cottage was really really nice and cozy, we parked our car just outside the door. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed so good and the bathroom very clean. We took part to their fishing trip which was so funny and cool. We cooked “our” fish, it was exquisite.

If we wanted to be picky and find a flaw, perhaps we would say that the bedroom curtains were not very blackout.

Bed size/comfort

Very conveniently located - 1h30 drive from Å, which is the farthest point; everything else is closer. We went hiking and visited several beaches, all within a 40mins drive top. The cabin itself is right onto a small pier, nice and quiet.It is clean and very cosy, with a well equipped kitchen. Owners are very nice.Definitely recommended and a very good value for the price.

Sound isolation, you'll hear neighbours

The hosts are very friendly. It's not too expensive (for Norway).

I stayed in one of the "fisherman's cottages" -- which are nothing but. Those three cottages are at the back of a parking lot used by motorhomes, so in summer the view and noise must be pretty bad. There isn't any open ocean view either, even when the lot is empty. The cottages themselves are supposed to be cleaned by the guests, and there's an optional extra cleaning fee if you don't want to do it yourself. As a result the cleanliness was dubious at best. The whole cottage smelled of cold fish, as did every single cooking utensil. The shower didn't drain properly (reported to the host, who didn't do anything about it before I left). Some windows didn't open, others didn't close properly (damaged / broken fittings). There wasn't anywhere to hang the towels in the bathroom, after reporting it the host installed a hook in possibly the worst place in the entire bathroom: just behind the door, where nothing dries. I used their washing and drying service, the dryer didn't work properly and my clothes were still damp after 3h. Finally, there's nothing around. There's one tiny shop (Joker) in Ballstad itself, on the island in front, but the closest large supermarket is in Leknes. Going anywhere from that place requires driving back to Leknes, so get used to that stretch of road.

Don’t expect a five star Marriot and you will certainly like the place!We highly recommend a fishing trip with Børje! We only caught a few small salmon but still had fun. Someone on the boat caught an angler fish!

A nice rorbuer located in a small village at the center of Lofoten islands a few minutes drive from Leknes. Good location. The views from the window are beautiful.Friendly owners. Clean. Stable WIFI.Basic and fairly equipment kitchen. Good enough to make basic dinner (e.g. pasta) but not for something fancy.

Bed was too soft for me.You are required to clean before leaving.Supermarket is 5 minutes drive

When I went outside I didn’t like the smell of fish because of a nearby fish factory.

The rooms were not so clean, there were pests in one of the rooms - which the host tried to pesticide. In addition, after our stay the host requested a significant amount of money, due to his claim that we left the cabins unclean. We had no idea that the cabins should be left clean with all dishes cleaned etc. But even so, the amount of money that the host requested was not correlated to the cleaning work needed.

Simple and comfortable cabin with everything we needed to cook a meal, hang out, and enjoy the area. The loft in the cabin was cute. Host was welcoming and helpful, providing recommendations for Ballstad. A little different than a hotel room- just tidy up the cabin before departing.

Its a beautiful place by harbour. Very nice lady in the reception. Its was cozy and clean in the cabin.
