Hotel Carlton

Breakfast was AMAZING - such a big spread of delicious food. Nice accomodations, particularly for family and cute neighborhood.

This is bare-bones. Clean, excellent shampoo, conditioner & toiletries. The safe was not large enough for a 15" laptop, however it was fine for small valuables. There was not a desk, so I made do sitting on a bench with the laptop on the bed. The fridge was actually cold, unlike most hotels. Like other Italian hotels, the thermostat was underpowered -- could not cool the room well.

I was in the penthouse -- lots of stairs! Lots. Lacking a desk, I set up my office in the spare bedroom. The rafters are low and you will hit your head many times if you use this particular room. The safe could be larger, but my laptop was not stolen as it was left on a bed. There is a maid service, which I don't want, but they come anyway.

A two star hotel pretending to be a three star hotel.

The hotel is in an old building that apparently was renovated sometime in the past, but not very well and it has not aged well. It lacks charm and does not make up for it with a pleasant room. As an example, there was a digital pad to adjust the temperature in the room. However, it did not work. You had to press a separate button on the fan unit which blew out the hot or cold air, which I learned when I complained after many minutes of pressing the digital pad. On top of this, the fan unit was directly under the window, so when you pulled the drapes for privacy, the unit was covered and all air coming out was blocked.

Clean, modern decoration and furniture in room and lobby. Nice breakfast with good products and variety. Staff was very efficient, pleasant and helpful. Fantastic location right in the center.

We stay here all the time when we are in Ferrara for medical treatments. We like the proximity of the hotel for our needs and find that the breakfast offerings are very good. We still mourn the day when restaurants gave up making homemade cappuccino (for the machine variety which is never good -- "progress"?) so ...be forewarned.

The heat provided in the bathrooms are woefully inadequate for taking a comfortable shower.

We have stayed here many times. The last time before this we had a less than stellar experience and the room we had was priced considerably higher. When we found this room at a much lower rate we decided to give the hotel another try. On this, our most recent visit, we had a smaller room and found it to be much better. For us (we come to Ferrara for my medical treatments) the hotel is a great location and we will return here.

Room was comfortable as was the bed and bath.

Breakfast here is always very, very good. Ample selection of breakfast choices, always fresh and pretty high quality.

Many restaurants in hotels that offer breakfast have gone to coffee making machines. They are ALL terrible and this one is now exception. I wish the hotels (this one included)would go back to making homemade cappuccino and espresso.

It's my second visit at the Hotel. Comfortable, central, friendly staff, great breakfast. Warm and cosy atmosphere.

The staff was very pleasant. Hotel and the room were clean, and the temperature in september was good. The best of all was the location of the hotel whish is the main reason I would recommend it. And the breakfast is great, diverse, fresh and the best.

I have few details that should be considered for upgrade. Our room was orientated towards the street,where in the evening you can hear pleasant music from local tavernas, but afterwards during the night, cleaning service trucks etc are very noisy. There is an open concept of a cupboard in the room which I personaly do not like. You could not get an iron since they charge the ironing, and that is ok. But it is not ok to tell me that you could not provide me an iron because of the safety reasons. I could have brought mine, and then what?The floor at the shower was very slippery for both me and my colleague, we had to be extremely careful (which is the first time that happened to me). And at one corner of the room you could se that they had water leakage from the upper floor bathroom. Not that it bothered me.

First room smelled like smoke and I was able transfer. The second room was an apartment style and was great other than the location of the TV. When extending my stay I ended up in a handicap room which was small and not good.
