Pros +
- The location, the parking space and the staff are great!
- Value for money. No frills hotel and exactly what I paid for. The room was clean and good size for a short stay.
- We arrived to the island really early and staff welcomed and we were given the room, we even offered a breakfast on the day of arrival. It was because of a low number of guests they have at this time of the year, but it was very kind of them!
Cons -
- The room was not cleaned even after clearly mentioning that we would need it clean. ?
- The bed was soft and pillows were not great.
- It's a bit far away from the center of Mariehamn, but still it has a really good connection -- nice walking distance along the sea.

Nice staff, cosy, tidy
Everything worked well, small room but with all necessary amenities and well-heated (winter). Wifi worked well and the breakfast was decent. The manager of the hotel was very friendly as well! Overall, a great stay, especially considering the reasonably price!
The hotel is simple, quiet and has a home like feel to it. Fully functional kitchen and spacious rooms were really nice. There was also a really cool family run italian restaurant and gelato cafe right next to thiis hotel. The most memorable part of this stay were the two warm and hospitable staff at the reception. Conversations with them made the off season darkness in Mariehamn lot more brighter!Highly recommended
We were happy to find a room on a short notice via booking.com. In summer finding a room in Mariehamn can be very hard. That is why our expectations were not that high. Hotel Strandnäs fulfilled the task vey well. The hotel is a bit aside from town center and very basic. Nothing was fancy but everything worked and atmosphere was friendly and cosy.
Nothing. The hotel was up to our expectations.
The morning receptionist was good and friendly /helpful. My ratings would have been positive had been she the one on night duty. Breakfast was also decent.
Directions confusing as Google maps did not work as free EU roaming on European SIMs are not functional here. I reached at 1.40 a,m and it took me an hour to find the place as property was darkened and the google screenshot I had taken was incorrect as it showed a diagonal path from roundabout instead of direct path . When I finally reached at 2.45 am the night clerk was rude and wanted a printout of my booking. He did not how to operate the card machine and claimed my card is not working , though I offered 2 other cards he refused to try and told me to pay cash. I was 4 euros short in cash and he told me to go out again (it was 3 am by then) and get cash from an ATM. I told him to reboot the pos machine and swipe again but he did not listen and I waited in the lobby. Finally I told him he may get into trouble as the hotel will lose a night's revenue then he allowed me to stay and pay the next day. Obvuously the next morning the far more polite staff had no issues in swiping and taking payment however this kind of harassment is unwarranted and I am going to look at legal action. The night clerk was obviously untrained and seemed a recent immigrant and was very rude. He did not even ask me to sit or offer water though I told him I was searching for the property for an hour. Also this property has very poor bus connectivity to the town and not just in weekends as mentioned in another review which was highly misleading- there is one bus with gaps of more than an hour during school season and much less after that. Cabs are expensive here.
10 out of 10. The hotel is located perfectly in a secluded and quiet area. Hotel also has rent-a-bike which is very convenient for anyone who is interested in exploring around with a bike. There is a bus stop nearby which can take you anywhere on the island. The closest supermarket is around a kilometre far. Staff, receptionist and the breakfast was on a top level. Completely affordable with a scenic location. Would recommend for sure.
We like the room with a ”trinettkök” (stove with small ref plus kitchen sink) we have on us our 40L electric cool box with battery charge inside the room. The doublebed and the bunk bed is too much for a family of 3. Our son usually sleeps in the middle of us. Otherwise the room was clean when we entered.
-The bathroom needs to have a larger toilet sink and some wide shelfs. Shower curtains should be long and wide also.-By night when we tried to sleep, You can really hear from upstairs noise’.-The breakfast was okay, just missing scrabble eggs and bacon.
Hotel was easy to reach also by walking as parks and pedestrian ways lead the way to the hotel from the center of town. The hotel offers a good breakfast (no bacon and scrambled eggs, but eggs and porridge). The TV channel selections focuses on finnish and swedish tv channels but some others as well. I did not use but got the impression that bikes were also available. I liked that the breakfast started early and the selection of cold cuts etc was wide.
There was no fridge in the room.
Exceptional staff and breakfasts. Very convenient bus stops right outside - but very irregular service!
We had a problem with the Wi-Fi in our annex. No garden to sit out in
Hotel was clean. Same as in the picture.Staff were really nice and helpfulBreakfast was tasty.
There was no fridge or electric kettle in the room (could be an improvement)
Clean, decent location, bike room
The beds, average breakfast
Clean, quiet hotel. Easy to park in the front if you drive. Bike rental works, eur 10/12 hours or eur 15/24 hours. The breakfast is great!
Location is far from the centre if you dont drive. Best if you rent a bike at the port (eur 21/24 hours and cycle to the hotel. Roads are perfect and flatish..
Had a room in the apartment section, very good space and good bed
Good breakfast ! Quiet and Nice staff!
- The staff at the breakfast venue was really polite and helpful. - The location was lovely.- Our room was big and comfortable.
- Breakfast buffet was quite poor. - No toiletries whatsoever! You'd expect that a 150€/night room would offer at least some shampoo and body wash. - The room could be in better shape: old and weary furniture, bathroom has seen far better days, curtains/drops failed to cover all windows (during Midsummer, this can be very annoying)
The breakfast was decent. It's possible to rent a bicycle for 15 euros/24h which is a great way to move around the area. The location was nice and quiet. Friendly staff.
A nice, quiet and clean hotel with friendly staff and ok-good breakfast. Bike rent possible for 10 euro. A big parking area next to hotel.
A few kilometers from centrum. Bit too much to walk, so used car to move to the centrum. Simple decoration (no decoration) in room, a few paintings would have been nice. Room has kitchenette, but no kitchenware at all -> take along something to boil tea water.
